I will make sure I keep this post going. I've got videos I just finished editing from the live show I did sept 11, belly and all, and I am anxious to post them now, but I am going to wait at least a few more days, I think.

the only real gripe I have with this song is a production issue. The kick drum hitting on every beat really messes up the vibe of this particular song. It would sound ten times better with a drum pattern more along the lines of "Sweet Thing"... not that exact pattern, but with some "and" kicks thrown in here and there. This melody is a banger, but the relentless kick drum coupled with the tempo make it sound like cruiseboat music, and it's too good of a song for that.

I will keep the drum pattern in mind when I get the band to learn the song. I agree that will make this song pop. background vocalists adding harmonies along with a drum pattern like you described would be awesome. when I perform it live I will make sure to post the video here.
I ignored this post cause I figured it was for people to share new music they had heard or discovered. Hope you keep em coming.
The singing is just really, really good lol. I love how 'patient' you are with the rhythm. You wait for the beat on the last syllables of the words. People tend to rush the last syllables and it sticks out to me how you kinda let the beat come to you instead of anticipating it. And you don't oversing. Nothing sounds forced.
It's a well-written song too. I love how the chords bottom out at the 1:00 mark. There's a bunch of times when the chords do something a little out of the ordinary that's really cool. The ep player's got some nice jazzy phrasing. The only thing I can think for constructive criticism would be that I'd like to hear more harmonies. Like at the 1:30 mark....that's my favorite part, when you start harmonizing. Sometimes when the voice is just doubled in the same pitch I thought a harmony might be better.
Can't overstate how much I love your voice. Hoping to hear more.

I wrote this song years ago at the very beginning of what turned out to be a long term relationship. I adored him. it was around 2002 ish when I wrote it. I loved it then but never got a chance to record it because all the producers I knew had only hip hop tracks and I wanted something slow and melodic. the team I'm working with now did a good job capturing what I was feeling then and bring it forth now. when I perform it live there will be much more harmonies. thanks again for the feedback. 🙋 Music is almost everything.

When you say you wrote the song a long time ago....are you talking about the lyrics? or the melody as well? How does it work with the producer? Do you sing the melody and then they write the chords around what you already have? Or do you just have words and then find the melody after the band plays the chords?

And i know my way around a piano. I wrote the lyrics and melody without having music/instrumentation behind it and it took years to find a producer that could put music behind it. So basically i wrote it a capella and i recorded it a capella and gave it to a guy who fitted music to it..then i re recorded it to the music.
I have one or two songs that i wrote to guitar but i would never play the guitar to the final version because im not that good. I remember when i went to new york and met wyclef and his guitar player. I played my song to the guitar and his player was like, u suck at guitar. Lol.
We laughed. I know this, but it was enough for him to hear my voice and the song. I try to stay in my lane...playing instruments for real isnt my lane.
