Dude needs a gut check and make a decision whether to work things out with his girl or leave the relationship. If you are with someone who puts you in some damned if you do damned if you don't shit, then that is a clear sign that said person does not respect you. If you are with someone that doesn't respect you, then you are with the wrong person.
I agree that he is in a situation, but I believe he can fix it. Yes, he sounds like a young man, but that doesn't mean he can't figure shit out. Lastly, their situation is not all on they young dude. The young lady needs to also grow up, stop relying on gramps, respect her to be child's father and work on herself so she can provide her child with a loving and stable home and family life. Otherwise, cut their losses, move on and co-parent their child amicably.
