"Most beautiful American CITIES"

Now that I have a family of four, international travel isn't as easy as it used to be, so I see a lot more of the US than I used to, and there are some really, really beautiful cities that we take for granted.

What to you think are some of the most beautiful cities (preferably pop > 100k)

The hills, the mix of infrastructure and natural geography, it's just amazing.

I wouldn't live there; the vibe toward a Black guy can be kinda weird. It's a White people paradise. But it's definitely a place worth visiting and hanging out in.

The place is beautiful.
I'm no expert, but the few times I've been to the Hamptons and my couple times at Martha's Vineyard, I much prefer Newport!

The Doris Duke Foundation has restored and preserved dozens of city's historic homes throughout the city, which they rent out for extremely reasonable prices.

that I lived in is a very dirty city...hell, Bourbon street and the French qtr. is dirty, too, and smells like piss but its all abt the party atmosphere that allows you to overlook look that

Yes, NOLA has a rich history of music and food and those are the main attractions that ppl come from all over the world to indulge in...but dob't get it twisted, the city that gave us Jazz, unfortunately, has much to be desired...especially post Katrina

Like sure Fairmount Park is nice and you have little pockets with money or murals or funky art (The Magic Garden) but I wouldn't rank it real high. Same thing with Boston, some super scenic parts and cool old neighborhoods but a lot gray and dirty shit, too.

Even though Pittsburgh and Cincinnati are designed quite similarly, Pittsburgh is somehow exceedingly more picturesque.

I really wish Old North St. Louis had been preserved all along. It was very beautiful back in the day and I heard there's been a push to restore it. I gotta get back there soon.

we're currently building a n African grasslands exhibit larger than the one at Disney World. which is fucking LARGE. It's like 28 acres and opens next summer. I'm stoked

Henry Doorly has consistently beaten out or basically tied San Diego for the better part of a decade.

but I wouldn't even use the zoo as a major selling point (again, a zoo large enough with enough things to see that you can spend an entire day from dawn to dusk there) because I'm not a huge fan of zoos. there is a lot of legitimately interesting architecture downtown thanks to heritage laws, some truly beautiful parks (one of them is technically Council Bluffs' but I don't let them have anything nice) and a unique position in the U.S. where you get a city populated by over a million people that still feels like a small town.

Granted, I'm a native and I think ndibs is going a little overboard if she's comparing it to my favorite city in the country, Seattle, for example, but it truly is a beautiful place. It has its slums but there are some major developments wrapping up in the next three to five years that are going to make Omaha competitive with all but the Seattles, Salt Lakes and San Franciscos of the world.

Also I think it's fantastic for small children because they have so many enclosed exhibitis like the country's largest indoor rainforest and the desert dome and aquarium. It makes it ideal for little ones who can't walk a ton and are too large for strollers or to be carried.

We're celebrating our 450th birthday this year, oldest continually inhabited city in the country. I have a blog where I post a picture daily from this little city. 7 years later and I still discover new beauty every time I'm out.

See ya, JAK

But try some of the smaller joints, too.

Southlake Tahoe is GORGEOUS, Same can be said for a lot of rural places. SLO is beautiful too.

Don't be afraid to go rural.

to me, in LA, even the ugly parts still are attractive.

if DC can pass for pretty, LA definitely can.

even the bad neighborhoods in LA are attractive, which is why ppl used to think shit was sweet over there.

most of LA's attractiveness is about the trees and hills anyway.
