"Recommend Only the Best Cookbooks Ever, Please"

Help me out, gimme some titles. Either your go-to, tried-and-true, most-trusted book(s), or the ones you just feel better knowing they're there on your shelf.

I've put together a pretty decent collection during my adulthood, here's a few of my favorites so far:

"Plenty" by Ottolenghi:
http://www.amazon.com/Plenty-Vibrant-Vegetable-Recipes-Ottolenghi/dp/1452101248

"Pok Pok":
http://www.amazon.com/Pok-Stories-Roadside-Restaurants-Thailand/dp/1607742888

"A Boat, A Whale & A Walrus":
http://www.amazon.com/Boat-Whale-Walrus-Menus-Stories/dp/1570619263/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1438141196&sr=1-1&keywords=a+boat+a+whale+and+a+walrus+cookbook

Two Fat Ladies, "Obsessions":
http://www.amazon.com/Two-Ladies-Obsessions-Jennifer-Paterson/dp/0609606344/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1438141299&sr=1-1&keywords=two+fat+ladies+obsessions

"The Gift of Southern Cooking"
http://www.amazon.com/Gift-Southern-Cooking-Revelations-American/dp/0375400354/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1438141414&sr=8-1&keywords=the+gift+of+southern+cooking

"White Heat"
http://www.amazon.com/White-Heat-Marco-Pierre/dp/1845334582/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1438141474&sr=1-1&keywords=white+heat+cookbook

Julia and Jacques, "Cooking at Home"

The first one is the most famous, but also a bit unconventional. The later ones are more cookbook-like, but still generally great.

It's all vegetarian food, but it's great. Their vegan chocolate cake is the only way I would make a chocolate cake at this point.

online almost immediately. Nothing is really new or exciting and the recipes are too dairy, cheese, cream heavy for my tastes and the typography (hand lettering) is maddening. This is re: the first one. Maybe the others are better.

I can't cook for shit, and I eat frozen pizza like 3 times a week. I want to up my food game but a lot of cookbooks I've tried are still a bit over my head. Any recommendations for something geared towards total beginners that still has interesting recipes?

These are required. Reliable, simple, and great places to not only start from, but continually use for years and years.

Also, "Thug Kitchen" seems like it might be more than kind to a beginner.

Ad Hoc at Home gives many good basic techniques that can be applied to many different situations as well as the recipe for many sauces that can be used with different dishes.
http://www.amazon.com/Ad-Hoc-Home-Thomas-Keller/dp/1579653774

Mexican Everyday has many, quick (less than 30 minutes), healthy dishes that once you learn are easy to remember and can be applied to different situations. He also provides many different riffs so with one recipe you can make many different dishes. THe only negative is that the binding on these are terrible as I am on my 2nd book because the first one fell apart. I've heard the same complaint from others that have the book.

i'm big on cookbooks with a lot of pictures. These have tons. There are a lot of basic recipes done better, a lot of slightly westernized asian and african food if you're looking for something new but maybe aren't keen on chasing after esotoric ingredients and a lot of comfort food. This is the one I use most often.

An ex and I used her Christmas book one year for a party and made food I still think about.

I absolutely need to get some Nigella back into my collection.

When I hit the lotto I'm gonna hire her as my personal, on call, underwear-only chef.

Superhuge fan of Minimalist Baker these days. They do not have physical copies of their 31 Days cookbook, only digital:

Why nobody rocking with Patti LaBelle tho, I have both her original and lite cuisine cookbooks. Her turkey meatloaf is EVERYTHING:

I guess I've been fucking up. This is exactly why I started this post.

I got to meet Pepin once, about 15 years ago. I was with all these idiots that didn't know who he was. What a fucking God. I adore that motherfucker.

I've been wondering about that Patti LaBelle book for awhile, and I've never heard of the Columbian one. Two more added to the wish list. Thank you.
