My neighborhood has 2 hour parking unless you have a resident permit. I let my shit lapse last month because the process is a pain in the ass and I have off-street parking (also because I forgot).
Anyway, I parked the car on the street because my in-laws are visiting and I gave them my spot. I got a ticket for expired permit, but no ticket for violating two hours. Can I beat the ticket with the argument that I was parked legally for less than two hours?

which ticket is more costly? they might've given you a pass by issuing the cheaper ticket but either way i'd go in there and talk to them to see if it can be reduced or wiped. in my city anybody with a parking ticket can just roll up in an office on the 2nd floor of the courthouse and "file a grievance" before paying it...by filing a grievance i mean you can essentially go up there, hand them your ticket and shrug and they'll knock it down 50%...then you walk down to pay. i'm guessing other cities have similar things. you don't even have to go to court for it...it's worth going in if it's in your city.
