"What age is too old to use the opposite sex bathroom"
My daughter is four, so of course, I take her into public restrooms. Our gym has a policy that says children over the age of four must use appropriate sex locker room. I get that, and I understand that locker rooms and bathrooms are two different things. I will probably have to stop taking her into the locker room (when we go swimming) very soon, but I don't think I'd be comfortable sending her into a public restroom alone before second or third grade.

chances of her getting sexually molested in the womens bathroom are pretty damn slim. talk to her about appropriate inappropriate touch, stranger danger, and if she's not out in x number of minutes you send a store employee in.
how does this work anyway? i mean does she come into the stall with you when you pee or do you leave her out with weirdo men using the urinals?

I go into the stall with her to make sure the seat is cleaned and covered, and because she just turned four and isn't the best wiper. I guess if I had to go, it would be right there, in the same stall.

chances of her seeing someone's junk is slim but niggas be weird. women can be weird too but junks out in a community setting feels like a recipe for disaster i'm a woman tho and i'm just weirded out by the whole concept of standing next to folks with your junk out in general.
my little brother went to the women's room with my mom until he was like 6 i don't recall ever going to the men's room with my dad growing up by the time i was like 6 or so if i was with just my dad my older sister was usually there so we'd go to the bathroom together.

my son is 5 and I know my wife still takes him into the women's restroom when she is out with him. It will probably happen for another year. When I was younger we used to go to the restroom alone at like 5. But it was me and my brother. That whole strength in numbers thing. We looked out for each other. My son is an only child and because of that we are a bit more cautious.

i am not a parent so i am not completely keyed in on their availability but this post has me thinking that there needs to be a push to make those more standard

We use them 'cause my wife can't stand or walk, so I have to help her in the restroom wherever we go. This severely limits where we can go or how long we can be out because most places simply don't have a family restroom.

One (where we used to be members) is the JCC, which does have a family locker room. It has TERRIBLE hours. They observe the sabbath. They close for like 36 Jewish holidays you've never heard of. It's impossible to park there, they nickle and dime the shit out of you, and you MUST sign an unbreakable annual contract.
The third is our gym, which doesn't have a family locker room

Walmart a while back using the urinal and after finish turning around and zipping my pants at the same time a dude was standing there with his daughter and she had to be at least 7 or 8

she's six and I still do it. the only times I let her go to the bathroom by herself is when we are at places like her dance school - which is in a large office building - and I stand outside the door. I always ask her if anyone else is in the bathroom too. and put paper on the damn seats and/or squat!

attendant in the ladies locker room while she changes? It shouldn't take too much of any female staff members time to walk in there with her, stick close by as she changes and then meet you at the door with your daughter in tow.

When she's too old to go to a public restroom with you would you let another woman - of your choosing of course - take her into the ladies restroom?? Or is it just as risky?
cause at some point - if your daughter was old enough to "notice things" I'd think you wouldn't want her in the men's restroom at all....
If I had a boy and it was the other way around there would be NO scenario where I'd want my wife to ask another dude to take him into the men's bathroom....
but for a daughter it would seem a woman I didn't know would be 1. more willing and 2. less risky

but I also have had women ask me to hold their babies for whatever reasons ..
I think it's easier for women to navigate this cause womens bathrooms have separate stalls. I've seen 10 year old boys chillin waiting on their moms in the bathroom

Probably from the time I was 4. I can't remember before that but I do recall anytime we went out, even to restaurants, he'd first check the male's rooms. if it was empty, he'd bring me in and when ppl came in he'd say there's a little girl in here. never an issue. if it were a man in there, he'd either make me wait or he'd tell me to go to the woman's room and he'd call in every other min to make sure I was fine.
