were to rock one would that effect you listening or watching their work?

i ask because recently tom petty said he regrets having a confederate flag on his tour project back in 85 and he doesn't want to offend black people,etc..

and while i only like about 3-4 songs by that turkey, i give him credit for at least saying that.

like that shit should not be an official state flag or regional symbol endorsed by the government, but i'm not trying to see it disappear from the face of the earth. i'll take as many ways as someone can tell me overtly they are an asshole; i'm tired of guesswork. if the song moves me, it moves me, i don't really care. hell i think "the night they drove old dixie down" is a great fucking song.

At least, not to my knowledge. However, I will continue to support any artist who rocks the RBG flag to the fullest!

I mean I'm glad it's coming down in South Carolina and in general I'd be pretty happy if it sort of disappeared moving forward but 'freebird' still rocks and the General Lee didn't stand for hate to me... Basically I'm a west coaster whos not black so the flag never had the same meaning for me that it had for a lot of people. so I'm sort of at the point where I wouldn't hold it against an artist solely because they used the flag in some context in the past. If someone decided not to support an artist based on their use of the confederate flag i would understand though - especially if that band or artist had the Skynrd vibe to them.

I can understand if folks were ignorant of what that flag stands for

as it was appropriated for southern rock, DOH, etc...

I can't completely blame them for their ignorance

Or to have a clue and simply not care. I like Tom Petty and Lynard Skynard, they may like/appreciate/love the south and it's history whereas I'm indifferent towards it so it works out.
