350 years+ of slavery, then Jim Crow, then fighting for Civil Rights, still fighting for equal treatment today...

Do the math!

The #1 religion in the U.S (and parts of the world) is white supremacy, that's the only god a disproportionate number of white folks knowingly or unknowingly pray to with regularity.

"You used to be so cool, but now, you know you're so cold"

extending your premise...

if God either doesn't exist, or doesn't care about us

is it not on us to instigate whatever change needs to occur for us to win, start winning, or at least stop losing?

if we can't depend on any God, who else CAN we depend on but us?

you honestly think it's "cooning" to ask?

or

to try and solicit SOME kind of collaborative...SOMETHING...amongst ourselves to fix the think you think is an issue?

really?

all that glibness, and ha-ha-hee-hee hell

at what point do we stop crying on message boards and DO something?

....and rather than pity-party, lets talk about how we can support what IS going on to help

it ain't gonna get better otherwise

choo-choo i guess

More religious than whites sure.
Not more religious than Mexicans.
Not more religious than Latinos as a whole, I'd guess.
Not more religious than Middle easterners.

So, that could be a factor. I've always found it...interesting that black people buy into a cosmology that inherently views us as inferior. I wish we could get off Abrahamic religions all together. We don't have a place in that cosmology and it's a mind-fuck to worship god from a lens that views someone else as the "chosen" people.

That was the point. Bc the original xtians (a sector of Jews) were the niggers of their world. In that they were a conquered ppl - enslaved too, at times. The whole point was that Jesus and the promise of salvation was their way out of the hell inflicted on them by the Romans (and some of their fellow Jews). Which is why our enslaved ancestors were attracted (massa insisted but they were all about it after a while bc the lessons about freedom from bondage and shit resonated - Black Liberation Theology and all that jazz).

fuck you.

rather than reaching for a connection to their ish. I'm cool with whatever gets someone by. I just wonder what difference it would make, if so many black people weren't married to a religion, or at least an interpretation of it, that doesn't seem to be serving them. But, I'm on that live and let live bit. As long as you don't try to force it on me, have at it.

African people had their own gods and gave them up because they they got whipped to believe in White folks God. You probably will answer me saying that Christianity was practiced in Africa before white folks showed up... But was it the same god. The judeo Christian one?
I strongly believe that it was not. A god that is not your own doesn't care about your plight.

The question is who left who? Africans of today are excessively religious when it comes to Islam and Christianity, at the same time, under the table, practice their own ancestral beliefs.I guess white and Arabic religions are not enough.

There was a time that you are not aware of, when Africa thrived. At the time they worshipped their own god.Whitey won't tell you that thou.

And White Jesus protects us from them now? All I know is that we're latching to some other people's gods and those people have no love for us,as a Black man in 2015, seeing how many of us they falsely incarcerate, kill with no cause, exploit and disenfranchise, all under the loving gaze of White Jesus, it's hard to fathom that he's somehow on our side. For that, agnostic I will remain.

either for or against you. That stuff is all based in myth, ego and selective memory.

If there actually is, and damn he must be busy with the 500 million planets in this 1 galaxy that could potentially have life(which would be typical of about 300-500 BILLION galaxies that we know exist) he is a pretty horrible supreme being to pick and choose who to help and who to let suffer in agony and horror. If this is how he operates, he should be asking our forgiveness, and not us asking for his.

There's too much weight of evidence for life pretty much relying on random chance and competitive advantage to drive evolution for God to have been involved since that first spark of life... and even that might be a few billion years too late.

As if a Universal God cares about a single species that has existed for 0.2% of the life of a single planet amongst a sea of trillions with delusions of grandeur.

We're on our own. There were "rulers" of this planet before us that God ignored and it ignores us just the same. Just make the best of your chance at existence.

People still struggling to come to terms with Galileo nearly 400 years later...

but it's a Eurasian religion that was spread in large part through conquest....

I just don't feel a strong connection to it outside of my American identity, and that's strictly a cultural thing...one that becomes less important with each passing day.

Considering the history of Christianity makes it hard to accept it as something that's a net good for non-whites world wide.

Love the art, love the music, and some of the philosophy and myth...but it's not something I see as being integral to my black identity.

62. "Maybe God is trying to tell black people something "
In response to Reply # 0

Something like:

"Now's the time to start packing"

"Or Keep on moving, this is not your final destination"

I say this only because the only analog I can even compare the "black" experience to is the Israelite captivity story or myth if you prefer. The situation in Egypt was just as bad-- kids being killed by decree, a desire by the rulers to keep them as slaves indefinitely, etc.

They were never meant to stay in Egypt-- perhaps we are not meant to stay here?

knowledge or understanding about God, the Word of God, the Promise of God, and the Mission of God.

And people just eat it up. Talk all crazy and falling for the OP's trash and he doesn't even care about God. He just wan't to create a bunch of negative comments and confusion. He's not serious about honest theological dialog or an honest conversation about the Biblical truths.

I really hope that people see this and stop holing on to that banana whiles it's in the tailpipe. .

But it makes my faith stronger.
My history with religion and God is a lot different from most people here and I understand that is why my faith is stronger than a lot of people here. So I don't judge. I am glad about my past tho. I feel blessed to know what I know based on what I've experienced not what I've heard from others. It makes my faith stronger. I feel like that tree planted by the river....i may bend, but I wont be moved from my foundation.

And I know things will only get worse in the world...and I still have faith and love God. I will never disown Him.

Jews are winning. Whites are winning. Asians are winning. Arabs are winning. Latinos are winning. And the the handful of Blacks that got the memo are winning (example: Ben Carson).
