>one & the same w/ the universe, which is eternal, which in >turn would make us eternal (in a sense, no?) but yet & still >we also experience finality in the sense of a limited mortal >lifespan which helps us to appreciate the beauty of an >everlasting universe, yes?
nicely written, and yeah, that's exactly what i was trying to convey, but to add to it, our limited mortality also allows us to appreciate the beauty of all things in the universe, not just the eternal universe, but music, or art, or just about anything that we as humans get to do and explore, discover, or create. limitations lead to limitless ingenuity, and in this sense, limits and non-limits are the same thing too as they cannot exist without one another
to me, the purpose of existence is evident in nature, and if you look into at nature, you will see every living creature or plant striving to preserve its own life or species, thus, we can assume that the preservation of life is an innate quality all living things have, you could even call it a purpose
materialists will deny that there is anything such as purpose but i bet you all of them want to have sex and reproduce, and that is something that they cannot use reason to nullify, it happens without reason or ideas, people become aroused, and that leads to reproduction, it happens entirely outside the realm of thought
if you look at the great extinction event, which is the asteroid which wiped out almost all life, the next dominant being to emerge after the dinosaurs was the human being, and what are we all interested in? leaving the planet and spreading to other parts of the galaxy/universe. why? well, a practical reason would be to ensure that life would preserve itself in case another asteroid came. i see a logic and natural progression in that, to me, it shows that the universe is learning of itself, and that we are in essence tools of its own discovery, or of our selves, all great philosophical and spiritual traditions focus on the discovery of the "true self", even jesus said "the kingdom of god is in you", and "i am".
~Experience is the currency of the soul.
