i have a word doc template with pre populated and auto generating information, like date and electronic payment info etc. i print that to PDF and send to whoever.
it works for me. but i'd love to have it automatically handled. i just can't seem to want to pay for the service.
there are some php solutions that i've installed on my webspace, but they never really work out as sweet as i'd like them to.
7. "this is my hangup. i'd gladly pay around $40 for an app...." In response to Reply # 5
but the thought of subscription to something like this makes me earl..... Sleekbill is the closest I've come to something ideal....but it's a $59/yearly or $99 flat "lifetime". I don't like this whole subscription model that software has moved to....
I want to simply have an app that I own on my computer and not necessarily married to the cloud.
17. "it sounds complex but when i spend -5 min on producing invoices" In response to Reply # 16

18. "FreshBooks - Can't recommend them enough" In response to Reply # 0 Mon Apr-27-15 04:35 AM by kajsidog
I've been using freshbooks for years now. It's free for three clients. Input contact info, start projects, allows me to use a timer to make keeping track of hours so much easier. My favorite feature is it sends automatic overdue notices.
Over three active clients there is a fee but it stores clients forever. So when I'm finished with a project, I'll archive them and can always un-archive them years later when they want revisions. There's been very few times I've needed the pay version but even then it was great to free up my time.
It also allows me to see my time logged each day, invoices over months (both paid and overdue) and the app works seamlessly. At tax-time it's a great one-stop summary over my invoices for the year.

i'm going to give it a shot. i am not completely happy with harvest. looking for alternatives. curious to see how the partial payment function works. wondering if it will be a good solution for deposit invoices.
