"People have no idea how hard it really is to [fill in the blank]"
Thu Apr-09-15 11:22 AM by -DJ R-Tistic-

This can probably be said about most occupations, hobbies, or activities that aren't known for being extremely difficult (becoming an Engineer, Lawyer, training for Olympics, staying married, building a house from scratch, etc etc)....but what are some things that you do, or have tried to do, that you realize are much harder than it appears to be on surface?

Of course I can say DJing...I did a family type party last month, and there was a 7 year old who was highly entertaining, but still annoying. After 20 minutes, her dad FINALLY saw that she kept bugging me, and he grabbed her away and said "leave him alone, he's working!" and she said "no he's not, he's just playing music!!!" Sure, she's seven, but I realize that even older folks see it the same way.

Aside from DJing...I would say photography is much harder than folks think. Especially for the photographers who have to edit. Doesn't matter if it's glamour shots, Wedding pics, or a magazine model...I can see that it's way harder than people realize. I notice it most when there's two photographers at one event, and they each have a completely different set of pictures.

-The Knicks’ coaching search still includes a lone frontrunner, Kurt Rambis, whose qualifications for the position include a strong relationship with Jackson and a willingness to take the job.

i work a couple of days a week and am gonna eventually bump it up to at least 4 days
and i can't wait lol
i love my son and i'm actually torn whenever i leave him to go to work (i HATE to leave him!)
but i be so much more patient with him when i get time away from him for a bit.

not for nothing though i think it would be a lot less stressful if my living situation was better.
the FOMC and i are working on easing our way back to the husband and wife life
so hopefully there will be more balance

ANYTHING now.

Like, we got HYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYPE when J.R. Rider did the East Bay Funk. Kobe did the same exact dunk three years later, and we were STILL hype off it. Then six years later, Jason Richardson did a 360 between the legs off a fucking alleyoop, and people didn't even care that much.

It's something accessible to almost anyone, so they think they could do it as well as someone who does it for a living. Being a competent trainer is similar, hey everyone can work out!

I imagine being a lawyer or doctor is even more annoying but people have a certain level of deference and respect for those professions.

they never quite understand that it takes a million other things to make the end product look like it took 5 minutes to do. i literally stopped logo design as a freelancer because of this.

9. "Ride a bike in a city"
In response to Reply # 0

Riding a bike in general isn't that difficult. Riding a bike in a city is jut madness.

- Pedestrians standing in the street to see if their buses are coming
- Potholes
- Cars making right hand turns
- Overly cautious riders
- On coming left hand turners
- Buses
- Taxis
- Any delivery trucks
- Reckless and unpredictable riders
- Weather
- Aggression
- The idea that you can stop a bike on a dime

An ideal city ride is one where traffic is really backed up, that way I can ride in a pretty solid and predictable traffic pattern with rows of giant machines "protecting" a side of me from other giant machines.

Hell, to make decent ones is hard. EVERYTHING gotta be perfect. The initial temperature, keeping it consistent, the entire grill has to be the same heat vs one spot where the fire is being too hot and the other side being too cold...it's surely levels to it.

The best comedians looks so natural and make it look like they really didn't prepare and are just hanging out on stage. Yoo, it takes alot of practice to get to the point of looking that natural and comfortable on stage.

I never realized it til I started going to comedy clubs. Watching Comic View and Eddie Murphy/Martin specials growing up made me think it was waaaaay easier. But then I saw how much goes into it...and how a star comedian can just walk on stage and say "shit it's hot" and the crowd will erupt in laughter. Or they can make a silly face. But an unknown comedian? Man.

I have homies who are comedians, and I've even helped them with sets. I actually have decent material that some of them translated into real sets, but I would never ever in life try to do it. I crack a few small jokes when I DJ shows, but I would never try to do story telling comedy even in that setting.

My friend is a comic and I use to stay in LA Comedy clubs and I saw it. I called it Comic Good Will.

When people come to see Chris Rock they came to laugh and dude can say anything and people will be dying.

On Open Mics and Ameatur nights, folks are half expecting you to fail and it's harder to get that laugh.

my stepfather was a computer programmer to the bone. he was the kind of nerd who would buy whatever the latest PC operating system was with his own money and do his own troubleshooting.
I used to get on him for sitting in front of a computer all day.
All day?
ALL DAMN DAY.

Remember the BlackPlanet/MiGente days?
I had my lil MiGente page and I decided I wanted to spruce it up by attempting to code everything myself...
MAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAN LIIIIIIIIIISSSSTEEEN!!!!!!!!!!

I sat at my desk for SEVEN hours
typing in code and tweaking.

When I was done, I promptly got up, went into their (moms and stepdad's) room and apologized for like 10 minutes straight.

here for dis.

the kids are cool.

it's the phuckin' parents that make sh*t hard.

Everyone's child isn't a star talent regardless of how many lay-ups and freethrows they make in the drive way.
