"OKFit: Favorite Workout Headphones?"

I've used some throwback Sony over-the-head headphones that they
don't even make anymore for about 5 years, and they've finally decided
to check out.

Looking at the new technology available, i feel like i'm stepping into a completely
different market of active headphones than what I remember. I generally don't
like in-ear headphones, but some of these joints look super comfortable and that
seems to be the only feasible option for sports headphones in the '15.

You have a particular pair of workout headphones that you love? Do tell.

they worked fine for about 3 months then inexplicably quit. used them mostly for lifting weights and the occasional run, so it shouldnt have been a sweat issue. would not recommend that particular model at ALL

the little things you put in your ear fall off easy. they are easy to lose. and once you don't have that, the headphones are done because it won't stay in your ear

I actually use the PMX 680 because my PMX 80s broke after 4 years of use and I bought the 680 as a replacement. But I like the 80 better because it's the same thing minus the volume controller. The little controller is useless imo, and it is an annoyance because it has to be clipped to your shirt, or else it will bounce and tug on your ears.

They go inside. The headband thing is very well-shaped so they whole thing does not move at all...not even during running or fast movement. It's a really good set.

Edit - they go inside like Apple iPhone earbuds, they don't "suction" in like the soft rubber-tipped ones.

If looped behind the head, they tend to stay better than letting it just hang. That said, the left ear sometimes pops out when jogging. I've had no problems in the gym.

jaybirds bluebuds x are the best wireless workout headphones by far but they will cost you...

After using these. I can't ever go back to wired for working out, plus the sweat proof guarantee and the sound quality makes these my suggestion if you got the dough.

yes i know that they are fairly expensive ($110-130) - but I
ain't got no kids ox, and I'm in the gym almost everyday, and am always
in a situation where I need active, high quality earbuds on the go.

to me it comes down to comfort/fit and overall audio integrity with
seamless ease-of-use. Leaning against the jaybirds only because I don't
want to have to have another device to charge, but I hear they are
the best in the game and the wireless facet to them works like a dream.

how is the fit? I've heard some people cop the jaybirds and then acquire
a conforming piece to fit to their ears.

I was kinda worried about them fitting properly and falling out of my ears during rigorous exercise but they fit very well and once they are in my ears, I have to take them out on purpose to get them out so they stay in place extremely well.

They come with 3 sizes of ear bud tips and ear cushions that help keep them in your ear. I found the medium size of each to be perfect but some people i've heard have gotten comply foam tips for them but i didn't need them.

and the sweatproof guarantee is what really sold me cause i used to cop the $30-40 sony earbuds with the volume control for the gym and run them under my shirt and they used to short out on me 3-4 times a year so after talking to a cat at the gym that my sister knows who put me on to them, I decided to take the plunge since I figured they paid for themselves considering I would drop about 160-ish bucks per year on ear buds anyway. they are the best by far and sidenote I fucking shake my head at all the beats by dre zombies that try to flaunt their big ass headphones around the gym like they're the shit. blind conformists...

the 66 audio over the ear ones seem like the best bang for your buck especially since comfort of buds seems like a bit of a deterrent for you

those jaybirds seem dope though and are also very highly rated on there

I tried them on at a local store and loved the fit (which is the most important
facet for me as I'm in and out of the gym/on planes often and need a seamless
set that I barely know is in my ears). The sound was extremely clean and all the mids are richly resonant (which is what I like). I almost copped the JayBirds and the 66 but decided
against bluetooth/wireless mainly because I've noticed my sound quality tends to take
a bit of a hit whenever i pair bluetooth devices together - and also because I didn't
want to have another device to charge.

I got a great deal on them ($89) and it's a 30-day return policy so If I don't like
I'll return and try another set. I'll let y'all know my review after i've had a chance
to use them.

Copped because of this post.

Full disclosure though, my head is monstrous (that's what she said), so while these fit, there's not much adjustment to be made and for a while I felt like they were on the verge of coming off.

I dig em for lifting or a semi slow jog, but for going all out, these ain't *quite* the move.

At my sweatiest moments, I found myself adjusting them frequently.

I think I'll try to catch the Bose joints on sale or just stick with wires.

I use the 66 mostly at work now, I'm in a high decibel environment and I throw em on and then throw my ear protection over em and listen to music on the sneak tip while I'm working

tough...

not even bc of the bluetooth range but bc the only way i could keep them in place was to be cognizant during each jump

it's the only downside i have for them though and for the price...i'm still not mad...may rig up a way to secure em during shootarounds lol

got the Indigo set.

The comfort of these buds are unbelievable - you don't even notice them in your ear yet they stay super sturdy and in place through intense exercise and running. I was sprinting and cutting corners and they remained securely lodged to my ear.

The sound is also much better than what i was expecting - super crisp - and pumps out way more wattage than i was expecting for such small buds.

They are pricey ($129.99 retail) - but if you can get them for around $89 (I found them on Amazon for $89) - definitely worth it.

I have sworn by Bose for years. I always cop from Best Buy because their $40 protection plan/return policy is excellent.

I accidentally left em in my shorts, and put my shorts in the washer and dryer. They died. I returned them to Best Buy and got a new set no questions asked.

this is the newer model just released
i didn't know at the time i bought them though lol
so i got best buy to price match and it was with the originals
so i got them for $141 instead of $179
win!

based on my research the new model has better battery life and foam tips in addition to the silicon ones.
there is one splash page but they are not on the product page for jaybird so i guess they are not officially released yet

here is the splash page: http://www.jaybirdsport.com/shop/product/X2/

and a reddit thread about them: https://www.reddit.com/r/headphones/comments/3fcqjc/jaybird_x2_wireless/

i am using the foam tips listening to d'angelo now and am extremely happy with the purchase.
i got them for biking (one bud in / one bud out) and my daily walking habit i just started (that i hope to progress to running)

so if you are in the market and haven't pulled the trigger hit up best buy and price match for the wrong model lol

the key to happiness is not being rich;
it's doing something arduous and
creating something of value and then
being able to reflect on the fruits of your labor

Under $20 and have worked perfect for me so far. I don't like anything in ear because they all fall out especially when I'm sweating.

The weight is perfect, can't really feel them at all even after an extended period of time. Sweat hasn't ruined them at all.

In response to Reply # 0

i wanted a set of bluetooth headphones since i do a lot of deadlifts and squatting, and the wires could get in the way.

first i got the yurbuds leap wireless. kind of an awkward shape to them, and because of that they were prone to falling out of my ear randomly. i dealt with it until the day that the phones inexplicably stopped working. just quite working. they'd turn on but not sync with my phone. a lot of other reviews pointed this out so i think its just a poorly designed product.

i'd heard about the jayburd bluebuds x. very expensive but i bought them anyway with a 30% off i think. anyway these things are awesome. once i put them in they fit, stay in my ears, and are unobtrusively comfortable. i can go an entire workout without noticing that i have them in (except for the music playing through them). thye've got a nice seal so that outside noise is blocked also. i HIGHLY recommend these, even though they aren't cheap.

Most useful gift ever.
Training the cord would always get in the way and limited where I could store my phone. Now I just toss my phone on the floor and keep it moving.
I used to go through about 4-5 cheapo wired head phones a year bc they would end up shorting out.

I have never bought another pair of workout headphones, because there is no need to, there is not a louder pair/ sturdy and water resistant headphone that I can think of, I'm not an audiophile but I like to have multiple headphones for different situations.

anyway, the Sony's are so damn durable, I sweat a lot, and these headphones stand up to all that, I even take them in the sauna and they work fine

The Plantronic Backbeats I was using had better controls, and a smaller footprint, but these have better battery life, and don't fall out of my ears the way the Backbeats did. Sound quality is a matter of opinion.
