"Anyone here use a standing desk?"

I am starting to have some knee problems and am thinking about copping one.

Any thoughts/suggestions from those using one?

I think I may want to go with one of those riser gadgets that would allow me to lower to sit when I want.

They are just so freakin expensive and ugly as hell lol

who stands in a perfect position for a long amount of time?

exercising before/after work or moving around for a few minutes every few hours makes more sense IMO.

Exercise before or after work doesnt negate the hours sitting in the desk.

Moving around a few minutes every hour is a great solution but most people (self included) who sit--end up forgetting or just not getting up and get tied to their chairs.

When I stand I find myself stretching, moving more. If I need, I can always switch to sitting.

When I'm at work I drink water constantly. Not just to stay hydrated, but it forces me to get up and pee a lot, which requires me to get out of my chair. I go to the bathroom like 10 times each work day.

It easily adjusts flat so you can go from standing to sitting with a push of a button.

and bar height chair. you lose the comfy padded leather swivel desk chair option, but i personally don't actually sit enough to need a comfy desk chair.

a former coworker bought a portable cart that you could height adjust for like 50 bucks and that was a great solution.

An even more spartan version of this

a typical standing activity is packing where i'm walking over to the "desk" inputting the data to print a label then walking over to my printer, getting my label, then going to my ironing board and putting the label on the mailer, putting the dress in the mailer, then rinse and repeat til my packages are all packed. i'm on my feet all day sometimes.

My co-worker recently had back issues so he had a makeshift one using empty file boxes to jack up the monitor, mouse and such at eye level.. it's supposed to temporary but he seems to like it a lot and may even get one installed by the job..

it definitely has it's benefits

I was starting to have back and neck problems from bad posture.

I raise my monitors all about 6-9 inches so I don't have to bend down to see them and I got rid of my chair and replaced it with a yoga ball. Haven't had a problem since.

And when I'm in the office alone at night, I totally do crunches on my ball.
