"Poll question: How many hours do you sleep at night? "

I went to bed at 2 and got up around 8am. I had to pee. I was planning to go back to sleep cause today is my day off but then my gf started texting me about dry cleaning. By then I was awake.

Bonus question are you sleep deprived? Im sleep deprived as f**** right now and have been since the beginning of March. If I'm making good money, at this, it seems, I'm exhausted. :/

The tiredness from the week usually hits me on Thursday.

-The Knicks’ coaching search still includes a lone frontrunner, Kurt Rambis, whose qualifications for the position include a strong relationship with Jackson and a willingness to take the job.

Also, sleep is needed to purge all the random thoughts that we acquire at night.

Like I used to have a lot of trouble falling asleep but not anymore. Now my thing is getting up too early and not being able to sleep again. It's not like most square folks who get up at the same time for work every day and can't sleep in on the weekend. My schedule varies considerably and I actually NEED to sleep late sometimes so I can work late at night and then other times get to bed at a reasonable hour to get up relatively early.

And you will know MY JACKET IS GOLD when I lay my vengeance upon thee.

Same here. I'm up now bc I'm hoping to pee one last time, so I don't wake myself up at 7am needing to pee and unable to go back to sleep.

This weekend my favorite thrift shop had an anniversary sale. 830am Saturday start so I had to be up early. Then Sunday I had to stay up late to do ebay listings for Sunday night ends. It paid off. A Furstenberg dress I paid $6 dollars for sat am sold for $180 bin by the time I woke up at 8am Monday EXHAUSTED to pack my other 15 orders.

I'm really hoping I can sleep in tomorrow. I'm beat.

11. "Sunday is the money day on eBay"
In response to Reply # 9
Wed Mar-18-15 11:49 PM by ConcreteCharlie

Although once in a while I will have like a random $2000+ Wednesday and then a shitty $65 Sunday, I generally find Sunday has the heaviest traffic. Whenever I have a sale, the last day is always either that Sunday or the following one. Makes sense, I guess, more people with dick-around time and leftover money.

Have you ever thought about getting someone to do your packing/shipping for you? I did it and now I have a lot more time for my reporting job and also to do the non-nut-and-bolt parts of my eBay stuff like finding merchandise, targeting customers and running promos. My dad is retired but can't live off his social security (like not even close) so now I pay him to do all my packing, shipping and the vast majority of the photos. It's kind of a big expense to add for a small business (he works about three hours a day) but it's already paying for itself and should pay off more. I'm making more money reporting and finding way more merchandise. It sounds like that second thing is really key in your business, too, in fact our businesses sound somewhat similar. I always refer to mine as antiquing for heterosexuals.

Now I forgot what this had to do with sleep.

And you will know MY JACKET IS GOLD when I lay my vengeance upon thee.

In response to Reply # 11

Almost all my stuff is pre owned so I give it a final look over, and repair any minor flaws... Usually like reinforcing the hook eye closure on the neckline or a fallen hem that needs 3 stitches. I've increased my efficiency a couple ways in the last year, by using clear poly mailers instead of wrapping stuff in tissue paper, having my friends sell lower end stuff at their store in exchange for doing a few online sales for them each month and selling a good amount on ebay. The listings take less time and move quicker. I'm a ways from needing a shipping helper. I usually can get it done by 10am when the mailman comes for pickup, unless it was a busy weekend like the previous one.

20. "How many items do you mail a month?"
In response to Reply # 17

I probably mail out about 200, not too too many but enough to be a hassle.

I feel you on inspecting the stuff but I do that when it comes in and have trained my dad on what to look for as he is packing. Occasionally he screws something up but overall it's pretty smooth.

To me the biggest thing is being able to get your mind off the grunt work and more onto the business/creative side.

between the 2 etsy shops and ebay. A lot are multiple item orders on etsy. It could be half that though a lot of months. not really enough to hire someone who needs regular pay. id also have to move my inventory out of my apartment or give up my personal space.

I take care of a family member and that means getting up between 8 and 15 times a night to help them out, turning them on either side or taking them to the bathroom once or twice a night.

I think the worst night had me getting up 18 times. I think I might have had 30 minutes of actual sleep.

It's gonna catch up to me, but there's nothing I can really do until this is over and they're healed properly. Maybe a few more months but it's been going on for just over a year now.

I'd prolly sell my soul for 8 hrs of sleep at this point.

I somehow made myself get used to going to bed earlier in the past few weeks.

Before I was sleeping from about 11 pm to 6, and now it's 10:15 pm to 5:45 consistently. Ironically, I started doing this right around the time change. I highly recommend getting the additional sleep. It's tough to cut free time out of your life, but it's been way worth it.
