A lot of people treat it like it's up there with the likes of Midnight Marauders and it isn't. It was a good album, not an all time classic. '93 Til Infinity was a better album than Bizarre from top to bottom imo.

jaw dropping beats and wordplay throughout. Every member of Hiero at their prime. Most of the little solo tracks are flawless too (Phesto D, Casual, Pep, Del).

Souls hid their cali dialect and then next thing you know it's hard R's all over the place. LOL

I was heavily into Pharcyde, Heiro, Liks, Hobo Junction...etc, but the only thing I can honestly say I STILL listen to is Del's No Need for Alarm

Listening to this now and it's a crying damn shame how bad Del's flow is now. A favorite cut from that album is Check It Out. Dude's flow just bounces all over the track.

Did ?uest compare the two? I remember ?uest giving Bizarre Ride props from a productions standpoint because he was amazed at how J-Swift used the Rhodes Piano.

Interesting, I don't know if I fully agree with the lack of humor as a reason why Lab Cab is a worse album if that was indeed one of his arguments, but interesting he'd go into that kind of depth given he's probably one of the biggest Dilla fans on earth.

Labcabin was perceived as a typical sophomore slump effort when it came out, which was probably unfair but people thought so for a reason

It's in my top 5 of all time, loved Bizarre Ride but the production by Jaydee, Diamond, and Pharcyde themselves on LabCab is absolutely timeless....there may be one song I skip on the whole album....play it every month

I'm not a huge Dilla fan, so I'm not one that appreciates the album just so I can follow to order of praying to Dilla's altar. At the same time, some props have to be given on how the subject matter on Lab Cab is different in that the group matured and was able to step away from Bizarre Ride without falling for the sophomore slump predicament. Plus an album that has Drop, Runnin, Something That Means Something, and Groupie Theory isn't trash.

The whole "Labcabin was better..." shit feels like it's coming from the same perspective as the people saying that "Stakes is high" was on the same level-or even better-than its predecessors.

Basically, a "normative" way of looking at music where it's apparently a plus the more "regular" and "common" as opposed to "special" and "unique" music is-As a true believer in the concept of genre-music and the underground/avantgarde, I can't relate to that mindset...

And yes, I know perfectly well how (supposedly) edgy and radical dilla was; doesn't matter, "Labcabin sounds PLAIN whereas "Bizarre..ö." feels *special*

And under the obvious condition that the *special* actually sounds good, it always wins and it's not even a principal/intellectual thing to me but rather purely emotional/visceral...

bizarre ride II was cool, but not in my top 10 of WC albums

3rd eye vision was just OK to me...the hiero oldies tapes are better

never was a deltron fan.

I think people forget how dope an MC Xzibit was on those first two albums. His first album is a true WC classic.
