1. The most immediate and practical results are physical. I used to drink and eat a lot of unhealthy foods. I don't do either anymore. The way you eat effects the way you feel and think, if you want to feel like a winner, eat like one. Start treating your body as a temple to accommodate the success story. Think of eating as making an offering to your own body as opposed to something to satisfy your cravings. My dietary rules are simple:
1. No carbs after 2pm. 2. Lots of vegetables, lots of fruit. 3. Supplement with apple cider vinegar, flax seed oil, and multi vitamins. All of these give me what food can't, give me a good dose of healthy gut bacteria, and purify my kidneys and liver. 4. If I do eat meat, it's usually fish, but I eat less meat than ever before as the body tires from digesting it. Meat is heavy and dense, the reason most people feel immobile after a meal is a good sign they are over eating and over stimulating their digestive system. You should feel light, airy, and vibrant after a meal. Not like a dump truck.
5. Stop drinking alcohol and caffeine for a while, come back to your regular hormone and serotonin levels. Let your brain regulate it's own energy. If you have a good diet you will have no shortage of energy and no need for stimulants. If you must drink, do it on Friday's and Saturday's only.
When your body begins changing, you start to feel good about yourself, it opens up a lot of positive doors to your own personal well being. Noticeable changes come after 2 weeks to a month. You also feel a lot better and healthier, and have more energy.
2. Knowledge is power. Is there something you are passionate about? something you want to do? something you always wanted to do? You're in luck, the internet is filled with online courses. Start filling your mind with knowledge. Yes, you work, yes you go to school, yes you have a significant other, make time. Tell them your plan, get their help.
*Realize the past is insoluble and inaccessible. Truly realize that it is impossible to change it. If you can do that, you will realize that it is pointless and futile to even consider it. This will lift a lot of self burden off your soul. Forgive yourself in this way, open up your heart and mind to right now, and to how you want to, and will feel. Embrace the sensation and maintain it. Stand on guard for your mind and reject any self deprecating thoughts to the past. They are irrelevant and meaningless. Understand how illogical the past is with your reason. If you have trouble doing that, go back to 10 years ago and tell yourself to do something differently. If you can, win a nobel prize, if you can't, let go.
3. Sacrifice. It's fun to go out and get crazy, it's fun to go to the movies, it's fun to sit at home and marathon the vast array of fantastic shows and movies available to us. Put all of that on hold, or limit your time to it for the weekends, everyone needs some fun and rest.
4. Make a daily and weekly plan, and review your daily plan at night, and review your weekly plan on Friday. Did you go to the gym? Did you put in that 1 hour into the course? Did you eat healthy?
There will be lots of slip ups at first, a lot of difficulty breaking old patterns, but with some practice, and diligence, they will no longer be problems as your mind will be immersed and inspired from learning, eating in a healthy manner.
5. Think loving thoughts of other people. Be happy and glad for them. Love them secretly if you cannot do it out loud.
6. Reinvent yourself. You are not who you are, you are whoever you want to be. You are human, a template for love, hate, learning, ignorance, wisdom, power. You can be whatever you choose to be. Choose to be who you know you truly are.
7. Have fun. Don't take it too seriously. Be patient and realize that you have more time than your worry allows you. When we stress and feel broken, we forget about time completely and sit in one room with no clocks, beating ourselves down over things we cannot change. Realize the process of you pursuing your dreams, are your dreams, there is no destination. There is no end. You have already arrived, you simply need to allow yourself to be the person you truly are.
