It's mostly just language he uses. Anyone who's listened to his radio show knows that he's on the level but just relays his message in a relatable way. He's not on any "enlightenment train". He's doing what he believes in and bringing his personality to it. He's a hustler. He doesn't hide that. The movement needs hustlers. Garvey was a hustler as well. It's a large part of the reason he was so successful and able to do so much despite all the attempts to bring him down.
This is news to me. I know that he used to associate with a few pimps, hustlers and gang members when he moved to L.A. Many brothas who were in the streets did the same. I know from his interview that he used to receive a lot of requests to give dating advice, hence the reason why he wrote his books. But, I never heard him state that he had women on the track.
As for him being on some enlightenment shit, well...
Seems like he grew up, evolved as a person, expanded his family and changed his focus from what he used to be to who he is now. I never had an issue with him nor what he is doing now.
I guess people like him will always have naysayers as well as supporters.
