Not only do they not observe it here, these MFs don't even acknowledge the day....at all. No volunteer stuff, didn't bring us lunch...nothing... and I'm gonna miss the damn Hornets game. Fuck this place.
and while i would have liked to dedicate today to a day of service i feel no less proud or grateful to be at work managing this team because i feel confident that i would not be able to do so without the sacrifices of those who came before me
It's a slow day and good for me to do some housekeeping and busy work I should have finished last week.
My company recognizes it (There's a presentation and discussion after lunch today). It's just not a reserved holiday because we work with businesses that aren't closed today. Our Education/StateLocal/Fed teams are pretty much out of office today though.

So it looks like I will be tied to this couch for a few hours, waiting and writing. It could be worse. Especially since it's an office holiday; I intend to collect this double time pay on behalf of my ancestors.
