" Background check question...."
Just got offered a new gig that I really want. Everything is contingent on the background check. I've never had a felony or ever been in any trouble. While in college my check book was stolen and a bunch of checks were written for dumb shit like pizza delivery etc. My bank took care of me and I figured I was good. Fast forward 15 years I get offered a gig with AT&T and they find a bounced check issue on court records in NC. I call up there to find out there was 1 check left out there for $18 and the company filed a claim. So I figured $18 is not worth me traveling 6hrs to handle when I could just pay it over the phone and be done. Well I didn't know paying for it was.essentially admitting guilt. This happened roughly 7 years ago. Should I be worried?

Do you still have the paperwork from your identity theft situation because check kiting does stay with you..you may want to pay for a background check yourself just to see what may pop up.

Ive gone through the hiring process with people in their 40s only to not be able to hire them because of something small that popped up from 20 years before.
