"Car help: Did I buy a fucked off battery or what?"

Couple of days ago, my car wouldn't start. Lights turn on, radio works, etc., but just a click when I turn the key.

Figured the battery was bad (it's about 4 years old) so we jumped it.
Took it to Autozone and bought a new one. Plopped the new one in and it started right up. All is good in the world.

But... I go to my car today. Same shit as before. Lights on, but just a click when I try to start it.

Is there another possible problem? It's hard to believe that I got a defective battery that goes bad just after one day.

..if your lights are working, its not the battery.

might wanna check the terminal connection for the battery, but this sounds like it could be anything from your alternator to your ignition. that's a decent margin for issues, so a professional diagnostic is in order.

I'm just trying to do some logical deduction to sniff out the problem.
Battery shouldn't be the issue anymore since I just replaced it. So it's on to more expensive things.

also, where do you live and how cold is it? what kind of vehicle do you have?

it is possible to have enough power ot tun on the lights and not turn over the battery, but it's weird you would have that with two batteries. you might have a problem with the actual battery cable itself, but what you need to do is test the battery to see if it is putting out enough amps

Didn't try to jump it again yet. I'm betting it will though, since it's the exact same situation as before I replaced the battery. Lights on full blast, but no start.

It's pretty cold (about 20 degrees). I'm rolling with a Baby Boy Accord (2003).
Before I do anything, I think I'm going to act an ass at Autozone lol.
Then get them to test the battery.

if you replace it a SECOND time then yeah, it's your shit
but i've had 3-4 alternators be "bad" on me from Auto Zone
never had that problem with any part at Napa

Yeah, I'm leaning towards it to being another issue.
But they're about to get a full 2 minutes of my wrath when I go up there.

I guess one of the terminals wasn't secured as tightly as it should have been.
Jiggled the cable and tightened the nut a little bit and it started up.

Thanks for the help. Saved me from getting hoodwinked by a mechanic

same prob. the battery can drain just from that, and or it's just not getting enough power because it's only kinda making contact.

The battery is charged by the alternator when the car runs.. if the alternator is bad then the battery will not hold a charge.
