i have no idea where the whole eating black-eyed peas came from but we do it every year. and my ex-inlaws had this thing where the first person to cross the threshold and enter the house in the new year had to be a male. some years i actually left the house and came back in just so this would happen.
and do you expect to hear gunshots at midnight or is that not a thing where you from?

I had a friend who use to break up with whoever she was seeing before new year cause she believed who you enter the year dating you were going to be with them that whole year
I just hug and kiss whoever is near me at midnight

I can't tell if the traditions I had growing up are Filipino specific, or if my family had weird shit going on. But my parents would hang grapes over entranceways into the house and leave em up all year. Also, wearing polka dots and throwing money in the air at midnight.

This year....not sure if I'm dropping Coco, No Type, Hot Nigga, or something else.
