"What is you FAVORITE, and I mean FAVORITE song?"
Mon Nov-24-14 05:10 PM by JellyBean

out of all the songs ever made in life...not your favorite rap song or your favorite rock song etc...just your favorite song? That song where you stop everything you're doing to jam to it.

I feel like we had one of these post recently but I can't remember.

Mine is a toss up between Do I Do-Stevie Wonder and I Gave You Power-Nas...I forgot Man in the Mirror (I sing along where ever I am to this song.)

feel free to post links

the vocals, the playful then deep alternation of the guitar ... it's all so sexual in a way that's not forced or caricatured. the ohio players were such an incredible band.

one of the best songs ever. i think that one, glen campbell's "wichita lineman," and isaac hayes' "walk on by" are in contention for greatest record of the 20th century, according to me anyway.

"Sign Your Name" - Terence Trent D'arby

Any of those could qualify on any given day.

My favorite hip hop song is easily "Electric Relaxation" - ATCQ

My favorite R&B song "Don't worry about a thing" - Stevie Wonder

My favorite Jazz song "Round Midnight" - Coltrane version

But my favorite song of all time would have to be Otis Redding "Try A Little Tenderness".

"We don't make mistakes, we just have happy little accidents" - Bob Ross

"I'm wearing a MSU Tshirt because I went to MSU, you are wearing a UM Tshirt because you went to Walmart!" -unknown.

I also really love Castles Made of Sand.

Otis Redding's Sad Song would be way up there and I love I Found a Reason by the Velvet Underground.

Proceed is my favorite rap song, lots of great picks there, too.

Under Pressure is a great song; I can still lose myself in the emotion of it.

I love It's Not Safe by Aimee Mann, she has a lot of really great songs IMHO.

Whispering Pines by The Band and So by War are also songs that really get me, but they are both downers!

One of the best lyrics ever committed to record and several of the best recordings/performances ever.

Torn between the Simon & Garfunkel original, the Aretha Franklin gospel version and the recording Johnny Cash did for The Man Comes Around. They're all brilliant - only conclusion? It's the best song in the world.

i remember being stoned out of my head and seeing the video randomly and being blown away when I was 20.

now it represents a passing aesthetic that captures a specific time between the late 90s and early 00s.

If I could only listen to one song for the rest of my life, it would be this. The chord progressions in the chorus/vamp, Marvin’s voice...it’s a perfect song.

Definitely my favorite hip hop song. It's really hard to narrow this all down to favorite song out of all songs ever made, but this is definitely in the running.

Or maybe the first three cuts off of Jodeci’s debut or “Remind Me” by Patrice Rushen.

Dammit. This is too hard!

I was sleepy when I posted this and not thinking straight. First three cuts off Jodeci’s debut?! NOPE. Great songs, though.

Just a perfect song on a ton of different levels.

Lots of honorable mentions were already made in here, including:

Stevie - "Never Thought You'd Leave in Summer" (w/special shoutout to Comm & Lauryn's version)
BlackStar f. Common - "Respiration"

Beach Boys - "Wouldn't It Be Nice" deserves some props, too. Song always gets the job done.

Mass Appeal is perfect. like, everything about it was perfectly crafted, and all came together to make one of, if not the, best GangStarr songs ever.

James Brown's performance at the Apollo was legendary. And no matter how many absolute monster hits he's had, the live version of this performance never ceases to get me out of my seat wherever I am in whatever mood I'm in.
