One of the gifts of being young is that particular blend of self-confidence and self-consciousness. Jaden and Willow Smith have managed to turn this form of heady teenage introspection into expression instead of ennui. Willow, the 14-year-old musician whose debut single, “Whip My Hair,” went platinum when she was not yet a teenager, explains that the gift of life is “looking at nature and being, like, ‘Wow, I am so lucky to have a body and to breathe and to be able to look at this.’ ” To which her older brother Jaden, a 16-year-old actor and musician, adds: “And the huge, terrible thing the world would be missing by not expressing yourself.” To that end, both Jaden and Willow, the children of Jada Pinkett Smith and Will Smith, released new albums this month, including two tracks by Jaden that make their public debut here.

Jaden’s “Cool Tapes Vol. 2″ is an extension of its prequel mostly in name: “At 12, I was just talking about hanging out with girls because that’s pretty much the only thing I was into,” he says. A few years later, the new pieces are suffused with a different sort of bareness, and a self-guided education in topics such as Archimedean solids and mysticism. On a warm November morning, T sat down with Willow and Jaden on a bluff overlooking the Pacific Ocean for their first-ever joint interview to discuss prana energy, the experience of time and the meaning of art.
Q.

What have you been reading?
A.

WILLOW: Quantum physics. Osho.

JADEN: “The Ancient Secret of the Flower of Life” and ancient texts; things that can’t be pre-dated.

I’m curious about your experience of time. Do you feel like life is moving really quickly? Is your music one way to sort of turn it over and reflect on it?

WILLOW: I mean, time for me, I can make it go slow or fast, however I please, and that’s how I know it doesn’t exist.

JADEN: It’s proven that how time moves for you depends on where you are in the universe. It’s relative to beings and other places. But on the level of being here on earth, if you are aware in a moment, one second can last a year. And if you are unaware, your whole childhood, your whole life can pass by in six seconds. But it’s also such a thing that you can get lost in.

WILLOW: Because living.

JADEN: Right, because you have to live. There’s a theoretical physicist inside all of our minds, and you can talk and talk, but it’s living.

WILLOW: It’s the action of it.

What are some of the themes that recur in your work?

JADEN: The P.C.H. being one of them; the melancholiness of the ocean; the melancholiness of everything else.

WILLOW: And the feeling of being like, this is a fragment of a holographic reality that a higher consciousness made.

JADEN: As soon as me and Willow started releasing music, that’s one thing that the whole world took away is, okay, they unlocked another step of honesty. If these guys can be honest about everything, then we can be more honest.

How have you gotten better?

WILLOW: Caring less what everybody else thinks, but also caring less and less about what your own mind thinks, because what your own mind thinks, sometimes, is the thing that makes you sad.

JADEN: Exactly. Because your mind has a duality to it. So when one thought goes into your mind, it’s not just one thought, it has to bounce off both hemispheres of the brain. When you’re thinking about something happy, you’re thinking about something sad. When you think about an apple, you also think about the opposite of an apple. It’s a tool for understanding mathematics and things with two separate realities. But for creativity: That comes from a place of oneness. That’s not a duality consciousness. And you can’t listen to your mind in those times — it’ll tell you what you think and also what other people think.

WILLOW: And then you think about what you think, which is very dangerous.

Do you think of your new music as a continuation of your past work?

JADEN: I think Willow’s had a huge evolution.

WILLOW: I mean, “Whip My Hair” was a great thing. When I look back I think, “Wow, I did so much for young black girls and girls around the world. Telling them that they can be themselves and to not be afraid to be themselves.” And I’m doing that now but in a whole different way, coming from source energy and universal truths. People will be, like, “Oh, I’m not going to make a song about exactly how I feel, all the bad ways that I feel, and put it out in the world so everyone can judge me.” But for me, it’s a part of me, it’s my artistic journey.

JADEN: That’s another thing: What’s your job, what’s your career? Nah, I am. I’m going to imprint myself on everything in this world.

How do you write? What’s your process?

JADEN: She gets in the booth and just starts singing.

WILLOW: I mean, the beat is usually what moves me. Or I think of concepts. Then when I hear a beat that is, like, elaborating on that concept, I just go off.

JADEN: She freestyles and finds out what she likes. Same thing with me.

WILLOW: You piece it together. You piece together those little moments of inspiration.

What are you searching for in those pieced-together moments?

JADEN: Honestly, we’re just trying to make music that we think is cool. We don’t think a lot of the music out there is that cool. So we make our own music. We don’t have any song that we like to listen to on the P.C.H. by any other artist, you know?

WILLOW: That’s what I do with novels. There’re no novels that I like to read so I write my own novels, and then I read them again, and it’s the best thing.

JADEN: Willow’s been writing her own novels since she was 6.

But do your collaborative relationships inspire you in different directions?

JADEN: Totally.

WILLOW: Me and Jaden just figured out that our voices sound like chocolate together. As good as chocolate tastes, it sounds that good.

How does fashion relate to what you do?

JADEN: Willow just dropped a song (“Cares”), let me quote the lyrics: “I do not care what people say.” We both don’t really care. I like to wear things that I make, but I throw it on as though I was throwing on anything. It looks cool, sometimes.

WILLOW: I like to go to places with my high-fashion things where there are a lot of cameras. So I can just go there and be like, “Yep, yep, I’m looking so sick.” But in my regular life, I put on clothes that I can climb trees in.

What are the things worth having?

JADEN: Something that’s worth buying to me is like Final Cut Pro or Logic.

WILLOW: A canvas. Paint. A microphone.

JADEN: Anything that you can shock somebody with. The only way to change something is to shock it. If you want your muscles to grow, you have to shock them. If you want society to change, you have to shock them.

WILLOW: That’s what art is, shocking people. Sometimes shocking yourself.

You mentioned breathing earlier, and it’s also an idea that recurs in your songs.

WILLOW: Breathing is meditation; life is a meditation. You have to breathe in order to live, so breathing is how you get in touch with the sacred space of your heart.

JADEN: When babies are born, their soft spots bump: It has, like, a heartbeat in it. That’s because energy is coming through their body, up and down.

WILLOW: Prana energy.

JADEN: It’s prana energy because they still breathe through their stomach. They remember. Babies remember.

WILLOW: When they’re in the stomach, they’re so aware, putting all their bones together, putting all their ligaments together. But they’re shocked by this harsh world.

JADEN: By the chemicals and things, and then slowly…

WILLOW: As they grow up, they start losing.

JADEN: You know, they become just like us.

So is the hardest education the unlearning of things?

WILLOW: Yes, basically, but the crazy thing is it doesn’t have to be like that.

JADEN: Here’s the deal: School is not authentic because it ends. It’s not true, it’s not real. Our learning will never end. The school that we go to every single morning, we will continue to go to.

WILLOW: Forever, ‘til the day that we’re in our bed.

JADEN: Kids who go to normal school are so teenagery, so angsty.

WILLOW: They never want to do anything, they’re so tired.

JADEN: You never learn anything in school. Think about how many car accidents happen every day. Driver’s ed? What’s up? I still haven’t been to driver’s ed because if everybody I know has been in an accident, I can’t see how driver’s ed is really helping them out.

WILLOW: I went to school for one year. It was the best experience but the worst experience. The best experience because I was, like, “Oh, now I know why kids are so depressed.” But it was the worst experience because I was depressed.

So what’s next?

JADEN: I have a goal to be just the most craziest person of all time. And when I say craziest, I mean, like, I want to do like Olympic-level things. I want to be the most durable person on the planet.

WILLOW: I think by the time we’re 30 or 20, we’re going to be climbing as many mountains as we can possibly climb.

Willow’s “3″ is available now on iTunes. Jaden’s “Cool Tapes Vol. 2″ will be available beginning at 12 a.m. with the download of his new app called Jaden Experience.

This interview has been edited and condensed.

then I started reading the odd statements mixed matched with words and concepts that someone must of told them.

I've met smarter and more enlightened children in my hood. I wanted to be proud that our black royalty are producing the next avant grade thinkers. Instead they read like pompous, out of touch home schooled kids who are talentless.

Yet I am happy to see black children in this light. Free, unique, privileged and fearless.

the key to happiness is not being rich;
it's doing something arduous and
creating something of value and then
being able to reflect on the fruits of your labor

I also think Willow showed great raw talent with the Whip your hair song. However I think for both of them it's a case of child star talent.
Their arrogance did not allow them to keep on practicing and training for their crafts as they grew older. So now they are both these oddball tweens acting like they know it all.

yes, they do...but teenagers their age oftentimes aren't talking/tweeting/texting abt anything outside of the IG/twitter/worldstarr bubble they are exist in

Whether the Smith kids even grasp half of what they're talking and just want to sound like the pretentious (perhaps well meaning) kids their rich upbringing has molded them to be is insignificant if it leads to something more meaningful in their life experiences

If i met a teenager like this in real life, I'd be careful not to discourage them. Even knowing how misguided they are....I think teenage years are a good time for this type of idealism.

With one caveat....I'd knock em down on the self-importance part. Like the 'my song made girls all over the world feel like they could be who they want'. That stuff I'd probly temper with a little forced humility.

But all the theoretical physics stuff...yah, it's groan-inducing and laughable...but teenagers who show interest in stuff like that are usually better for it as adults later on....even when it's pure bullshit. They just need a little more humility.

Let's be real..

as an artist.. our entire existence comes with a huge level of self indulgence...

I mean we make art based on a ridiculous premise.. "This thing I made should be heard by the WORLD"

So if you are 9 and score a hit and travel the world performing it in front of thousands of girls.. how can you tell her she's wrong?

I'm guessing these two will likely never need to be all responsible and take a job on the shop floor... might as well yam up as much thinking as they can.

Yeah, they sound like idiots, but they're kids. Kids sound like idiots when they talk about anything, but I'd probably be pleased if my teenagers were trying to wrap their head around relativity rather than the latest Twilight installment.

Will and Jada sound very similar in interviews, sprinkling in words like "metaphysical" and "esoteric" at the wrong times. They're very silly.

Yall ever hear that Oprah interview where Will is saying that ppl who believe 2+2=4 are sheep, and for him 2+2 will be what he wants it to be? There are some videos on yt of Howard Stern goofing on this video that are pretty hilarious.

Every last one of us looks back on some shit we said or did like “wtf was I thinking?” but a spades a spade, and this is all kinds of extra.
I dunno why some are so uptight about noting this though.

Vapid, thinking we are deep and profound but sounding goofy.

Just add on privilege and not being indoctrinated by the public school system.

lol @ expecting them to be super refined w/ these concepts. How about
we support their exploratory growth and encourage them as they approach
these topics instead of trying to chastise them for being too cursory in
their explanation, too privileged, or too 'weird'.

These are great ideas for young kids to be contemplating.

It's just they look fullish trying to speak on things they are still learning and do not fully understand. It's the arrogance (for lack of better word) in their tone that they have it all figured out. Like a lot of people said, that's teenagers. But I'd call out non-famous teenagers for the same thing.

I can think of any young black people who will have more power and influence (maybe the Obama girls?). It would be a waste if they grow up and to continue to think that they may consider "Whip My Hair" as a form of giving back to society.

I mean you don't read this and cringe

"“Whip My Hair” was a great thing. When I look back I think, “Wow, I did so much for young black girls and girls around the world. Telling them that they can be themselves and to not be afraid to be themselves.”

Is that what Noblesse oblige has devolved too?

They’re dumb as rocks, but not due to any mental illness (that we know of) or social disadvantage. Actually, they just have an absurd disconnect with reality, and I realize that it’s because mommy and daddy are pretty fucking delusional and nurtured this level of arrogant, obnoxious stupidity.

Still, I didn’t go into all that, so I dunno where you get “going off” from.

The point is that OKP has an odd dichotomy whereby it’s something of a sport to continually make fun of things said by a person who has told us about being on various psych meds and suffers from mental illness, while these corny ass dullards are dismissed as typical teenagers.
Still, I didn’t go into it that deep. I made a simple observation that hardly qualifies as “going off”.

I laugh at the crazy shit I see when it comes through a timeline but most of the time I'm presented with some shit from these kids it like "look, at this dumb shit they said". I could see if they were on some negative shit but most of it seem innocuous. It's not like these kids are running shit or fucking with ppl. Most of the time they even come to my attention is to highlight their special brand of privilege

Don't get me wrong, I can't take overly esoteric people who drone on or just say shit for attention.

I didn't even mean to defend or excuse ppl coming at other posters here with mental wellness issues, my bad for coming off like that

We’ve got a member who kind of has some issues and posts wild shit that people can’t seem to resist clowning or even responding to, yet people will run in to defend a couple of celebrity rich kids.

It just seems to me that we should collectively exhibit that same level of concern for our own member.

Like… nobody is willing to step up to tell folks to take it easy on someone who truly isn’t all the way there, but Big Willie Philly’s seeds go on a rambling, incoherent rant that sounds like it was formulated during a weeklong shroom binge and everyone wants to be protective when their stupidity gets a moderate amount of criticism.

Folks are so focused on two kids will never even come into contact with my post- much less give half a fuck if they did- that they missed the point completely.

People don’t show this type of disgust, displeasure, or concern in EZ posts that go poastal at her expense

But let a few people show their distaste for the unnecessary ignorance of a couple of rich kids on a message board they’ll never even read, and the compassion comes pouring out.

I just can’t wrap my head around people who won’t show that level of concern toward a member of this site or, at a minimum, a willingness to simply ignore her when she’s clearly on one.

It just seems like an odd paradigm that I felt was relevant to the reactions people have to the reactions others have to the topic.

Or do you prefer baseless blanket statements that “sound” good?
The truth is you don’t really have any basis to call anyone ‘celebrity obsessed’. The topic came up, people expressed an opinion, but that hardly qualifies as “celebrity obsessed”. Where are all these celebrity-based posts made by myself or anyone else who remarked on the absurd stupidity they just read?

Everyone in the public eye gets critiqued. That extends to places like this, where we critique each other all the time. I get critiqued all the time. What makes the obnoxious offspring of one of the biggest movie stars in existence so special?

Do you probe the message boards of People or Us or Whateverthefuck Weekly to take down those who dare to comment on the ridiculous antics of the Beibers, Lohans, Miley’s of the world? No? Those places would consist of people who are actually obsessed with celebrity.

And no, they don’t sound like kids. They sound like arrogant, obnoxious morons who are badly detached from reality. I dunno about you, but I’ve never known any teenager to say anything approaching this level of dumb.

They’ll get some measure of scrutiny if/when they say something this far out of established norms. As much as people insist that this sounds like typical teenager stuff, it’s not. This is a significantly magnified version of that, thus the responses.

I don’t think anyone pays them any mind- us included- outside of an expressed opinion during that water cooler or message board conversation.

That entire thing is so scattered and annoying I didn’t read all of it. I just caught a piece here and there and that statement was just the first example that popped into mind when he mentioned reading.
At any rate I just picked out a particularly obnoxious statement to use as an example. I’m sure many will say “likely story” like I’m moving goalposts or whatever, but the rest of my statement bears this out:

“If you can’t see why that sort of thinking raises eyebrows and elicits a few disparaging remarks, I dunno what to tell you.

I don’t think anyone is hating. This stuff is so far out there though that it’s a huge turnoff for some people. Lastly, the notion that everyone would be smarter if we all stopped attending school is probably more detrimental to the black community than the someone commenting on how dumb these two sound on a message board.“
. Some people don’t see the big deal. Others see obnoxious arrogance. The whole point of the post you responded to wasn’t that they don’t read anything ever; but that the interview has plenty of statements that are far afield enough that it’s not unreasonable to have a negative view of them.

they'd say stuff that they think they know 100%, but don't really.

and they'll contradict themselves and make little sense sometimes to those that are outside their own head (read: everyone else)

and they'll have theories about life or the universe that may or may not be true

it would be hilarious.

in other words: these 2 teens are normal.

oh and they are right about school....most kids don't learn there and it is a source of depression for millions of teens.

In response to Reply # 73

There is no feasible self-directed study that will lead those kids to the heart of quantum physics, developmental biology, or personality theory of psychology. Granted their parents are loaded with money so they may be able to get more out of it than average.

And sure, im willing to acknowledge that K-12 knowledge concepts are only useful for attaining postsecondary education.

But socialization, problem solving, work ethic for its own sake, and methods of thinking are all valuable in their own rights and all honed in school.

here in the US...and by and large, they are garbage save for a handful in each state

our public school system and it's rigidity and steel tethers to the teacher's union has resulted in a depressing state of affairs for our kids.

sorry but the Smith kids are dead on about this. and Willow only had to go to school for 1 year to see it lol

i wholly disagree with that...the wealth of formal education you can get online on sites like Khan Academy and other accredited universities is astounding.

lol maybe in the schools YOU went to...but i can tell you as a parent of teens in high school, i'd categorically state that their school is FAILING to teach that to a majority of their students..or are accidentally teaching those concepts in their most perverse and damaging forms. nice idealism tho

Where did they differentiate between the type of schools they would go to and public schools that most kids go to?

Willow said she went to school for a year. Do you think she went to a public school? What would be her basis for saying anything about public schools?

^you cant talk about NOT thinking
then later say you made an opinion (by thinking)
of the music you made
if you are against thinking
and just going off of emotion
you will never have an opinion
at one instance you HAVE to think.

Yes but we can't act like people don't "think themselves out of shit often"

I mean literally risk is all about not letting the "rationale mind" get the best of you..

eg.

Thought - I am going to drop this song...

Thought 2 - But what if people don't like it? What if it's not good enough?

Thought 3 - Fuck you thought 2 I am dropping this shit..

So in a convoluted way they are explaining some basic concept really

but if my niece and nephew came to me like this this, i'd really be afraid for for them, cause this type of thought process isn't based in any rationality and the world will be alot cruler to to those without the status and money the Smith kids get to use as a springboard to do/try/think whatever...a dreamer is great, but i'd need some basis in reality too...

but again, i'm happy for the Smiths if they're happy...

WILLOW: I think by the time we’re 30 or 20, we’re going to be climbing as many mountains as we can possibly climb.

that's basically exactly what they sound like

a lot of it is cringe-worthy

most kids/teens dont get platforms like that and most don't feel the same freedom to spout their own brands of idiocy like adults (like me) do

so while i'm not really mad at it...

i am rather wtf about it

>parents letting them think they have all the answers.

it's more like their parents let them think. full stop.

that's damn near revolutionary.

they will find out, in due course, that they do NOT have all the answers. life's challenges will teach them that...and those lessons are better learned through experience than having your parents TELL YOU what you should be thinking.

people gotta look at the bigger picture here.

teens love to do exactly the opposite of what their parents tell them to. so the only thing we need to do is tell them what the likely consequences/outcomes of various actions/choices are, then let them decide...they go into it with some idea what to expect, then are completely accountable for the result.

THAT is parenting, imo.

"It's proven that how time moves for you depends on where you are in the universe. It's relative to beings and other places. But on the level of being here on earth, if you are aware in a moment, one second can last a year. And if you are unaware, your whole childhood, your whole life can pass by in six seconds. But it's also such a thing that you can get lost in."

120. "Philosophy Professor Explains the Jaden and Willow Smith Interview (swip..."
In response to Reply # 0

In the wake of the controversial interview of Will and Jada Smith's kids, we thank Vice for reaching higher to try and understand what many are grappling with.

Here's the piece from Arielle Pardes and Vice:

We Asked a Philosopher to Explain That Jaden and Willow Smith Interview. It was an interview that everybody read yet no one fully understood, kind of like a Thomas Pynchon novel. So I asked a professor of philosophy (who didn't want to have his name on the record for this subject) if he could translate the gobbledygook into plain English and if anything from the interview was rooted in actual philosophy.

VICE: Willow and Jaden talk a lot about time travel in the beginning. Willow says she can make it go "fast or slow, however I please" and Jaden says that "how time moves for you depends on where you are in the universe." What's that about?

Philosophy Professor: There are two things going on there. Jaden seems to be aware of the famous consequence of relativity theory, which is sometimes encapsulated in the "twins paradox." It's illustrated by a pair of identical twins on Earth, one of which goes in a rocket ship and travels super fast—approximating the speed of light—and the other of which stays on Earth. The theory of relativity says that if this one goes fast enough and stays away long enough, when he comes back, he will be very young but everyone him, including his other twin, will be very old. So there's a sense in which the passage of time is relative, and this is completely uncontroversial—or, at least, as uncontroversial as a scientific theory can be. So it sounds like he's well informed about this fact about physics there.

VICE: And Willow's idea of slowing down and speeding up time?

That has more to do with the phenomenology of time. Relativity theory doesn't really say anything about how time feels to us; it just makes predictions about the objective passage of time. Both of the kids, in their respective comments, seem to be making familiar observations about how the same intervals of time can seem, to the subject, to pass more or less slowly. Time flies when you're having fun; if you're in a boring class, it seems like a minute lasts an hour. That's all familiar and true enough, but it has to do with our human psychology, not the objective nature of time itself. So you can delineate the subjects—one is the physics of time, the other is the phenomenology of time.

VICE: Wow. What about when they're talking about being part of a "holographic reality"?

The holographic reality hypothesis is just the Descartes dream scenario in new garb, i.e. life in a Matrix. That's definitely something philosophers have been talking about for a long time.

VICE: Later in the interview, Jaden says, "What's your job, what's your career? Nah, I am." Is that a Cartesian thing, too—I think, therefore I am? Or is it an existential thing?

I see why you'd be tempted to draw either of those parallels, but it sounds to me more like flat-footed social commentary. I mean, at a cocktail party, the first thing you ask somebody is, "What do you do?"

That can get tedious, and I think he's just pointing out that human beings get up to a lot of stuff besides what they're paid to do nine to five, and there's something backward about a culture that forces us to define ourselves by our job.

The holographic reality hypothesis is just the Descartes dream scenario in new garb.

VICE: Oh. Yeah, that's a good point.

I think it would be a reach just on the basis of that one two-word sentence to try to draw a connection to the existentialist tradition. Though in existentialism, there are two kinds of bad faith: One kind of bad faith is not owning what you've been and what you've done, and the other kind of faith is not owning the fact that you're a free agent who has the power to do things differently in the future. So the second one sounds sort of like what he's saying, but the first one sounds sort of like what he's resisting—namely, being defined by the job that you have, what you spend your life doing. An existentialist might encourage you to own that just as much as you own the stuff that you do beyond the path that you've been pigeonholed into.

VICE: What's "Prana energy"?

Prana energy sounds like Eastern philosophy, which I don't know much about.

VICE: Fair enough. What about when Jaden talks about "double consciousness"—where does that come from? "Double consciousness" is from Du Bois.

VICE: Oh, true, but I'm not sure he's referring to that kind of double consciousness. He's says something like, "your mind has a duality to it" and "when you think about an apple, you also think about the opposite of an apple." What does that even mean?

It seems like he's going off in a bunch of different directions at once— which you would expect, given that he's a child. But one interesting epistemological idea is that you might think that if you're not capable of thinking about the opposite of something, then you're not capable of thinking about the original thing itself. For example, the idea of counterfeit currency wouldn't make any sense in a world where all currency is counterfeit. Or, a better example: I might be dreaming right now, but does it make sense to suppose that all of my experience has been a dream?

VICE: Down the rabbit hole we go...

Yep.

VICE: Can we go back to Du Bois's idea of "double consciousness" for a minute. Willow mentions her song "Whip My Hair." Are you familiar with it?

Oh, yeah. Sure.

VICE: So, she's talking about the song and something she says in reference to it is that it "did so much for young black girls and girls around the world. Telling them that they can be themselves and to not be afraid to be themselves." Does that ring true with Du Bois's ideology?

Well, when you're "being yourself" in the relevant sense, you're not being caught up on how you're being perceived by other people. You're trying to transcend the double consciousness; you're not trying to see yourself through the lens of the third person, be that white colonialist or whomever. You're just trying to see yourself through the perspective of the individual that you are. So yeah, I guess there's some sort of connection there. But I'm no expert on Du Bois.

VICE: All in all, you don't think Willow and Jaden are totally full of shit?

No, sounds like they're pretty well educated, a little New Age-y, but very intelligent.

being a rapper or actor is damn near impossible for most people so put that dream on the shelf.

when a person walks away from their dream it's soul crushing...

to hear kids who were born into this shit rant about all their ideas it gets a WTF ever because they have a shitload of money to fall back on if they fall the fuck off or never make it big once they are adults.

It's hard to hear someone's ideas on life when they have nothing to lose. If these kids needed their projects to blow because they would be on the street tomorrow I think more people would respect their ideas.

I'm rambling tho so don't mind me....

The content here, is absolutely rich if one can understand the illusion we all live within! Both of these young people are sensitive, brilliant and deeply awake! It is good to know that Jada and Will have assisted them by giving them space by which to expand their consciousness! It is paying off. The industry they have chosen or that has chosen them is filled with ghastly, disgusting, people and circumstances. They must function on higher ground! I wish them profound success in all of their endeavors...particularly, the endeavor of being deeply human! So far, so good!

"It's cool that black kids can finally break the mold by becoming as vapid and delusional as many of the worst-raised white kids do."

If a similar interview with famous and sheltered white kids were posted, would ANYONE view such freewheeling egomania as positive and likely beneficial?

I would suggest no and further posit this is because of a readily-accessible Platonic ideal of normative white development that by contrast makes embarrassing brag talk and mumbojummbo look raggedy.

What might this say about a low expectation of, at best, conformity for black youth?

Their minds have no restraints on their thinking! They're not trapped in our limited mainstream boxes! Knowledge of self! Higher planes of spiritual consciousness!

Oh, and this is how all teenagers everywhere always think.

And yes, if this were, say, Howard Stern's kid or some shit 70% of the super concerned in here would be going harder than anyone currently in the poast.

Being famous doesn't make you an expert in politics, religion, science, philosophy, etc...

you can act and you can rap... so tell us how to act and rap or stfu.

And lol@the bad attitude bullshit. FYI, nobody in here is more upset than those defending them.

Of course, you tried to bait me yesterday and failed, so you're here to try again, but you've failed. ...again.

Happy hating but I'm not indulging you today either.

Can't cop pleas for these goofball kids. When I was 13, I was working on my jump shot hoping to make the NBA on day and noticing girls, trying to get some pussy.

I damn sure wasn't making grand, sweeping statements about life like I'm Friedrich Nietzsche.

I knew enough at that age to know that I didn't really know shit, and that was cool because I'd still learn.

I am just kind of annoyed people treating it like they are profound.
