Caught this over the weekend while going through NBA playoff withdrawal. I remember being fascinated by this when it happened
Spoilers:
I think Wells was the patsy. Probably in on it, but didn't think it would be a real bomb. If you watch the video of him sitting on the ground talking to police, you can see his demeanor change once the thing starts ticking. Up until that point, I don't think he thought it was a real bomb.
Marjorie Diehl-Armstrong and Bill Rothstein are the masterminds. Too much evidence pointing in their direction (eyewitnesses, Bill's handwriting on the back of the heist instructions, the blue van spotted at the scene of one of the scavenger hunt locations and they were both highly intelligent.)
Gotta hand it to them for the preparation. Rothstein built the bomb with home made parts (like the Unabomber). Tracing the heist instructions with pen OVER the printed ink (untraceable) was pretty damn smart and made it untraceable.
Still a lot of questions that will never be answered here.

She was using Bill's smarts to get the bomb created and to hide that body. She was playing all of them and I finally think Bill was smart enough to figure out he was trying to set her up and he pulled a double cross. He just didn't have enough time left to see it all play out.
I felt bad for the pizza man, he seemed to be on the spectrum and was bound to die at the end of that heist regardless of police intervention.
Damn good watch tho

he knew about the plan and was part of it but has no idea he would be the one wearing it.
Also Bill never intended for him to survive. If he gets caught it goes of and kills him so he cant turn the rest of them in. But I think even if he made it back with the money, Bill would have let the bomb kill him so that again he cant turn the rest of them in.

My GF was having nightmares all weekend after we binged it.
Without giving too much away (*slight spoilers ahead*), the particular combination of psychopathy, hoarding, prostitution (in the same locations with the hoarding!), and SAW-like diabolical contraptions is a doozy.
I was a pizza delivery person back in 2003 when this happened and I remember being really shaken up by it.

but they kept it short and sweet
and yep. I got a strong Kemper vibe from Bill Rothstein lol. But Marjorie was the real CRAZY in all this. She had Bill wrapped around her finger and knew it
used a self defense argument to get off with killing a man in cold blood
and she wasn't on any law enforcement radar?

basically admitted to a lot of characteristics...I'm the smartest one in the room...capable of manipulating metal in order to disintegrate the shotgun used to kill the current BF...etc...
