Let me tell you something..
I stand by my statement because I have seen it as well as experienced it with my own eyes. I have been Black my whole life(well over 4 decades)and know what I am talking about..
Next, based on your emotional response, I am not sure you really want to have this conversation..But, I will play along..
Being labeled a "Black" QB does not hold equal respect than being a regular or default "white" QB. You know this, so why is it hard for you to understand that he wants to be respected for his capabilities in the same capacity as his white counterparts?
Even with all the overrated white QBs in the league, and there is quite a few of them, they do not have a stigma attached to them as being a "white" QB. They are just QBs who either get overpaid, over praised and/or given latitude for whatever ineptitude they may posses with playing that position.
I ain't going to go into the history of what Black QBs went through in the history of the NFL because I believe you already know the business. I do not believe he does not want to disassociate himself from being Black. He just want the same respect given to him for the position he plays that is given to every other non-Black QB.
Next, I was not just talking about different opinions. I am talking about a person's whole get down which includes opinions, tastes, interests, beliefs, actions, etc.
Some niggas simply look down upon certain niggas that they can not relate to. Based on that, a nigga will be labeled this or that and will be treated accordingly. Do not play me and act like every nigga practices negritude and accepts every nigga that crosses his or her path. No group of people does that and niggas ain't an exception!! So, miss me with the bullshit and keep it all the way fonkie!
>Edit: make no mistake, he is my QB. I've believed in his >talent since 2011 when I originally had a huge man crush on >him and wanted nothing more than him to be the Browns QB and >the one that finally turned it all around. But I'm not bout to >sit up here and excuse any of the cornball (possible coonish) >behavior that he has exhibited... shit even Cam got sense >enough to understand what it means to be a Black man, playing >that position, in that league, than Griffin has. Shit, even >Russell Wilson has better than him, and he's the number one >"is he black enough?" poster child > >And when I say they get it more than he does, meaning that >they at least returned Warren Moon's call...
Now, as for Russell Wilson, his "blackness" has been questioned, especially when he was married to his ex (white) wife. He somewhat redeemed himself a lil by marrying Ciara, but you can not tell me even with that he is treated and considered a "regular" brotha by universal brotha standards.
With Cam, his blackness has not been questioned per se, but his latest interview has came under scrutiny because some niggas do not understand that he has to play the public relations game.
He is not a boss!! He answers to those who pay him. No reasonable person is going to fuck up their paper(multi-millions) in order to appease some people(so called conscious niggas) who expect him to challenge the system of white supremacy w/o offering him any back up (physical, emotional and financial).
So yeah, I said what I said because I know people take issue with RG3 cohabitating with white women. That in itself puts him into the cornball brotha train. It does not even matter how he "acts" because if he came out sounding like Clarence X cubed, he would look even crazier than he does now.
I will say that he needs to grow up some more and I hope Coach Hue Jackson can help him become an elite QB. Only time will tell.
