and when a guy on there said America first and Bill kept screaming "and Israel" he confirmed my beliefs.
**************** TBH the fact that you're even a mod here fits squarely within Jag's narrative of OK-sanctioned aggression, bullying, and toxicity. *shrug*

but every once in a while that liberal-brand of racism creeps in and I cringe at what he says. That said, dude does consistently gives opposing viewpoints a chance to present their arguments. So, that garners my respect. I just don't look to him as some sort of idealogical authority. I can swallow it easier just looking at him as an opinionated dude with a platform for his particular brand of bullshit.

Some of my stances may overlap with his occasionally, but he's a troll who's good at trolling ultimately. I like my contrarians to at least act like they're above resorting to that behavior even if they're not (i.e. Hitch RIP).
i side with him on a lot of issues, but I don't like his "if you don't agree with me then you are a fucking idiot" attitude. He is funny sometimes though.

i think that's basically the overall vibe on this site that combined with the fact most of his ideas are in line with what's popping over here i'd assumed most ppl here would like him i don't watch jon stewart or fox news or whatever so i don't have a real comparison point, but i like him

A bit too much to have a dude with his name in the title of the show get applause breaks for speaking his opinion. I can understand if he says something funny, but to constantly applaud the guy for giving his straight opinion on something just turns me off.

i kinda get why he feels the need to shush them sometimes. these Coulter types go on there and say shit just to get an obvious rise out of the crowd, and they react predictably with goofy boos, instead of just laughing at the ridiculous shit she just said.

He does it if ANY distension in the audience is heard. I agree yelling and booing excessively can be boorish, but the people like Coulter are ACTUAL clowns with ideas that should be taunted.
Bill's not doing that. He's way too deferential o these fucking nuts. He abrely calls them out. And these aren't fringe people they've all been on Face The Nation Fox news within a few weeks of going on his show - it's not about stopping them from talking - it's about reacting appropriately - and sometimes that includes booing.
If you say crazy racist shit I think you can withstand a few boos from the audience. (They can't - that's why they always claim to be the victim.)
21. "Coulter does it because she wants to get booed" In response to Reply # 20
She's a troll who gets off on that shit. I'd say it's probably the same for most of the conservatives on that show. Laughing at her/them is far effective. He also doesn't really shush them as much as he used to
Plus i'm not sure what you want the show to be
Maher's not really as good at having a healthy debate as Jon Stewart who's approach with people he disagreed with was even less confrontational. So if every time Maher brings a conservative on the show, he just berates them and calls them stupid, there's no real conversation, they wont bother go on the show, and the show just becomes a liberal circle jerk, which is pretty boring.

white men that has a national spotlight to call out white racism whenever it rears its head
And I think his constant criticism of traditional religious dogma (mostly Christianity/Islam) has caused a lot of ppl to think critically abt the topic

I don't agree with EVERYTHING he says or how he goes about making his point at times, but I generally do agree with him on most issues. I appreciate the fact that he does have guests from across the spectrum.
