"In retrospect, how strange was "The Office""

Unlike say "the workaholics" which had multiple shooting locations and outlandish happenings a group of people got up every day to pretend to work in a generally mundane office.
They wore business casual clothes, went to the lunchroom, sat at desks, attended meetings, and even did interviews (scripted)

Like, it's a struggle to get most people to legit go to the office and they a whole lot of people made multiple shows about it. It feels like more surreal art rather than deadpan comedy

His character was a bit too mean-spirited and unlikable for people to get that invested in for that long.

towards the end they broke the 4th wall a few times. IIRC Pam had a thing for one of the camera men. Then the documentary actually came out and they did a Q&A about the whole thing.

withPoehler's being a Carrell like loser but the show didn't hit its stride until Amy Poehler reinvented the character for herself as an accomplished unconquerable optimist.

Like the people on the office. Sit in an office. Dress the same and have similar working spaces.

I could relate because I've worked with someone like most of those characters.

After Michael Scott left, I felt they could have done more with the secondary characters (Stanley, Phyllis, etc). But it was a good show. The finale was one of the best close-outs for a series that I've seen.

I never get tired of those. They're not too long, episodes are self contained enough to not have to watch in order, and pretty much every one is good. Also there are so many episodes that you don't really feel like you're watching the same thing over and over. Great default TV.
