"sound proofing a room"

so... i moved into a new (much better) apartments
its an old converted building -
i'd like to soundproof my bedroom - because its right against my neighbours
and i can hear her when im trying to sleep (i need silence)

dont know what options there are
google talks about mass loaded vinyl which sounds labour intensive
and im not about that
so im wondering if anyone has ever done this and what they used
right now considering sound barrier blankets
the cost though, ugh

.

i myself would never want to be god,or even like god.Because god got all these human beings on this planet and i most certainly would not want to be responsible for them, or even have the disgrace that i made them.

And I guess a white noise machine is out of the question since you need silence.

i've been reading up on that mass loaded vinyl ish
i'd have to get someone to do it, these guys recommend:

"Fast way to get superior sound control in your apartment: and make it removable Buy imitation wall paneling from the hardware store. Carefully cut to fit your wall. (No gaps). Apply MLV to the back of the paneling with either contact cement or using the version with PSA. (Pressure Sensitive Adhesive).
Attach to your wall with a few finishing nails. Panels can be removed with a minimum of small holes when you move!"
http://www.soundproofing.org/infopages/flooring.htm

i'd do this if it cost<500

and then there's this too:

http://www.homedepot.com/p/SoftWall-Finishing-Systems-44-sq-ft-Alabaster-Fabric-Covered-Top-Kit-Wall-Panel-SW642539020/204275840?cm_mmc=shopping-_-googleads-_-pla-_-204275840&ci_sku=204275840&ci_gpa=pla&ci_src=17588969&gclid=CjwKEAiApYGyBRC-g_jIstuduV8SJABCEzhZ4i9W62H0mOUzoWCWMYFO2MYc632Im0HSnsrXdcMvoxoCLcfw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds

with either, i'd need to get a carpenter or something

It has sound attenuation properties built in. Combined with proper framing technique, it may suit your needs and be under the $500 threshold.

Framing a wall isn't too difficult. Depending on the length of the wall you need to cover, you may be able to DIY with little effort.

2x4's spaced 16" on center. Just look up wall framing techniques.

..because sound proofing a pre-existing room is more expensive (and a lot more work) than most people realize.
