UPDATE 9 AM: During the CW executive session, the network’s topper Mark Pedowitz gave more details about The Flash project. It will be the origin story of Barry Allen who will be introduced as a recurring character on Arrow this coming season starting in the fall. “We want to expand the DC universe of characters,” he said. As for how the project came together, Pedowitz said he late last year brought up the idea to DC Entertainment president Diane Neslon who turns out had already been discussing it with WBTV’s Peter Roth and producer Greg Berlanti. Pedowitz also confirmed that “Amazon is on pause (as) the script is not exactly what we wanted, and with an iconic character like Wonder Woman, we have to get it right.”

EXCLUSIVE 7 AM: Another DC Comics male superhero is looking to join the CW’s lineup. I’ve learned that the network is fast tracking Flash, a drama project based on the DC character from the Arrow team of co-creators Greg Berlanti and Andrew Kreisberg and director David Nutter. The CW is expected to discuss the project at today’s TCA presentation. I hear there is an idea is to introduce The Flash on Arrow next season before spinning it off into its own series. I hear Flash will be written by Berlanti, Kreisberg and DC Entertainment’s Geoff Johns who also has written for Arrow. Nutter, who helmed the Arrow pilot, will direct the potential pilot, while Berlanti and Kreisberg are expected to run the potential series. Marc Guggenheim, who developed and executive produces Arrow with Berlanti and Kreisberg, is not involved in Flash as he busy with Arrow, now heading into its second season.

Expanding DC’s footprint on the CW has been a priority for the network and DC sibling Warner Bros. TV, especially following the departure of the long-running Smallville and in light of the recent success of Arrow, one of few breakout hits last season. This past development season, the CW developed a Wonder Woman origins project, which didn’t go to pilot. The network in May commissioned a new script with a new writer which has been delivered, but I hear the network has hit the pause button on the project. Flash is certain to get a priority given its A-list auspices. Arrow is one of the CW’s top series, along with The Vampire Diaries and veteran Supernatural, all three of which are being used to spawn new series. The network used The Vampire Diaries last season to spin off The Originals, while Supernatural‘s upcoming ninth season also will feature a planted spinoff episode.

Created by writer Gardner Fox and artist Harry Lampert, The Flash is a name shared by several comic book superheroes from the DC universe. All incarnations possess “super-speed” or an ability to run and move extremely fast and use superhuman reflexes. The second Flash alter ego, Barry Allen, headlined the 1990 CBS live-action series The Flash starring John Wesley Shipp. Incarnations of The Flash character also have appeared in the Young Justice animated series. Berlanti and Johns are XWarner Bros. several years ago. In addition to Arrow, Berlanti has new CW series The Tomorrow People.

its a fun show to watch, but gets really repetitive with certain things. every show has a moment where his sister complains about the mom or how he's not opening up, a moment where the mom says the same thing, a bickering moment between diggle and "the hood guy," an awkward moment with the love triangle, etc etc.

also, diggle is a trained soldier and he's relegated to a secretary type role for the most part. wth?

anyway, some gripes aside, as i said its a fun show.

also, did anyone notice the scene in s01e22 where they basically recreate the hallway scene from The Raid?

got season 2 recorded, will start in probably next week.

it truly is. it has been from the start.

yet people didn't want to give it's respect because it's on the CW.

I'm glad people are FINALLY seeing how good Arrow is and though both shows are speaking to different audiences, Arrow is the far superior show.

A.O.S. shield has a way higher pedigree (Whedon name and Joss as the in absentia EP) and a stronger cultural zeitgeist (The Avengers)...

Arrow has *NONE* of that (cause, save for Batman, Superman, and Wonder Woman, are folk REALLY checking for The Green Arrow with the same kind of fandom they are as the Avengers and that universe? Nope) but does so much more with way LESS.

Arrow is thee shit and it's topping itself every week, which is a rare feat for a show these days...

But now the CW has opted to film a traditional stand-alone Flash pilot instead of doing a backdoor pilot as Arrow‘s Episode 20. With Episodes 8 and 9 serving as an origin story, the plan was for The Flash character to make his debut — red costume and all — in Arrow‘s Episode 20. He will now do it in the pilot. The Arrow producers are expected to discuss their ideas for the episode with the CW this coming week. On Arrow, Barry Allen (Gustin) is a Central City assistant police forensics investigator who arrives in Starling to look into a series of unexplained robberies that may have a connection to a tragedy in his past. A comic book fanboy, Barry is obsessed with the Arrow unaware that working with Oliver and Felicity to solve the crime has brought him right into the dangerous world of the vigilante.

ARROW been kicking ass

NIKKITA was QUIETLY performing well and occasionally besting or winning key demographics (and often stomped FRINGE out when they were on at the same time in certain demos)

THE VAMPIRE DIARIES and THE ORIGINALS: real good and doing well

REIGN: even if it's a period drama, folk are tuning in.

They have solid shows but because they're on the CW, no one gives them the respect due.

Which is odd because they have some of the BEST writers working on those shows (Greg Berlanti, ARROW and THE TOMORROW PEOPLE and the FLASH pilot if it goes to series, which I bet it will; JULIE PLEC: THE ORIGINALS and VAMPIRE DIARIES, with Kevin Williamson (SCREAM) too, etc.)

but Arrow is fantastic. Now that i'm working later hours it will be one of the shows I look forward to watching LIVE from here on out.

2. romance, girly shit. even though they've moved away from it a bit into sci-fi/action oriented stuff.

the action shows are hardbody though. arrow, supernatural & nikita get it in and it balances out the romance shit.

VD and The Originals look aight from what i've seen but i have to start those on netflix like Supernatural.

i almost think they need to have a brand relaunch/reboot campaign just to let people know that this aint your sister's (or teen daughter's) CW anymore.

This is my favorite show on TV. This is the comic adaptation that people have been telling me for years couldn't be done. And it is fucking awesome.

Can't believe I didn't google Cyrus's name last week. Second Dig read the poem I let out way too audible of a squeal. lol
