as far as execution and swag, kweli's short-breathed stuff sounds about as much like teddy pendergrass as a cat being hit by a car. love the tracks you mentioned but to me there is nothing smooth about kweli, i don't like his music for that reason. thought has more of the old-soul feel to his shit, just pops way harder IMO.

that we can all relate to. It's not only about the lyrical dexterity, but also about the love story we can relate to. Song cry: that's a love song. Me and my bitch - some may disagree but it is a love song. I need love was mostly about the novelty, but it was a well put together love song. We all wanted to recite that poem to chicks in high school. Common's ode to serena is heaartfelt, because it is some real shit. Lovin' I lost. And so on.
I can't compare love songs to others. They only need to be heartfelt and that's enough for me. The Roots's You got me, Silent Treatment and others listed above were all great, but they don't tower above anybody else's love songs particularly. They don't need to. It's enough to me that they are well executed. Everything doesn't have to be a battle sometimes.

I think that he and Method Man are good also. I thought that some of the other people in the good were good also. And I thought that Beneath the Surface was good. I also like listening to A Tribe Called Quest, real smooth. I also think that D' Angelo, Erykah Badu, and Maxwell are good also.
