>1) He invented a style which spawned a genre within a genre >(in both hip hop and R&B). >
Pete Rock (who was Dilla's Idol),Q-tip, and Shaheed Muhammad would disagree with you.

Not in the industry. Only on Okayplayer.
>3) He switched his style at least three times throughout his >career... Admirable, but strong enough to make him the greatest in his era or the greastest of all time.

Bomb Squad? A couple of tracks, but thats it. Throw RZA in there too. Heck, throw in the late 80's and 90's based hip-hop sampling in there.
Dilla was showing how to make an hip-hop album, beat-wise, of yester-year with Donuts. There was nothing new under the sun on that album. It was refreshing in that it was great and it brought back a style of Hip-hop production that has been either long forgotten or poorly imitated.
>Dilla was the greatest while alive and even now he's still the >greatest.
Nope. Primo, RZA, Dr. Dre, Erick Sermon, DJ Quik, and Madlib beg to differ.
>Cats borrow/bite offa him all the time (i'll admit >to it), and you can hear it. In a sense he gave us Hi-Tek, 9th >Wonder, S1, Illmind, Nottz, Supa Dav West
Dilla didn't "give" us these guys:
9th Wonder? Nope.
Nottz? Nope.
Hi-Tek? Nope.
Theses gusy are great in their own right and have their own distinct style.
>and HAD an influence >on a whole bunch of other producers who may or may not >acknowledge this. >
Only the myspace cats on okayplayer.
>4) he was also the greatest producer to ever touch a mic... >that's to boot. >
RZA, Q-Tip, Redman, and Scarface disagrees with this.
