I've never had an MPC or any other sampling device, so I'm looking at it strictly from a software POV. For those who sample, which platform do you use?
1. "I've heard Kontakt is a good sampler" In response to Reply # 0
You can run Kontakt inside of a DAW. I sample in my MPC or ASR and dump into Logic 8 (mac) myself, but I have a homey that uses Fruity Loops Studio with Kontakt and it works well. I've also heard good things about Ableton.
Anything with a demo, trial version, or intro model. Learn what you like, and what makes it easiest for you to create. People are going to have strong opinions about shit, but there is no "best".
4. "I swear by Adobe Audition 3.0" In response to Reply # 0
Pretty much, 3.0 is user-friendly as hell. Granted, to be fair, its all I've known for the last decade but my bandmates use other platforms like Logic or Reason and anytime I'd watch them utilize they shit, I'd think to myself: Dat shit is WAY EASIER in Audition...
So there it is. But I'm biased 'cus I been on Audition since it was called Cool Edit Pro. I've stayed wit deez ninjaz da WHOLE TIME.

and I'm never changing. I tried the new version, but it doesn't play nice with my 32 bit plugins.
I cant EVER see a reason to change from audition 3.0.
