Like the title says, which one(s) beats the other? It would help if whoever posts has had experience with both or all of them... I have never came across either of these because I have no idea what stores sell them, nor do I have any $$$ to buy one yet. I'm trying to compare and see which will be the best route for me. Here's the links to the MPC
http://www.akaiprompc.com/mpc-studio

and the Maschine
http://www.native-instruments.com/en/products/producer/maschine/

and I know someone else posted about the Maschine, but I don't think anyone in this post compared these specific ones.
http://board.okayplayer.com/okp.php?az=show_topic&forum=26&topic_id=48197&mesg_id=48197&page=

I know a lot of the pros (Dilla mainly) used the MPC and a lot stuck with the 60, 2000xl, 3000, and/or 4000, and I have looked at all of them, leaning slightly toward the 2kxl, but I'd like to ask which of ALL of these are the best to go with, compared with the Roland MV 8000 (RZA uses this). Would it be more difficult to work with these and would I have to invest in more equipment? Or, should I even try to get one of these giants? Since they are much, much older and aren't as "advanced" as the newest MPC's, I wonder if I should even waste my time with these?

If this helps, I have an M-Audio Keystation 49e (USB powered) and a
Yamaha PSR 540, which my dad gave to me but Have never used http://usa.yamaha.com/products/musical-instruments/keyboards/digitalkeyboards/portable_keyboards/psr540/?mode=model

And a set of really good pro speakers, I think KRK. And broken Sony MDR V6 headphones, and the new Sony MDR V55 headphones, but I don't think those are for studio use.
And a bull HP computer that really needs to die. I need a Macbook.

Along with whichever music creation hardware I chose and the MIDI and Yamaha, I pretty much have a studio, right? (minus a record player for sampling, mics, and whatever else I need but don't know yet). What can I do with the Yamaha and the M-Audio together?

I don't know if ya'll can tell, but I am a straight up Nooby NOOB when it comes to this (music production). I SINCERELY apologize for my ignorance. Haha.. thanks everyone

i havent used maschine. most users seem happy with it, except for a few limitations.

alot of convoluted things here. MPCs have a long history of performing well. RZA uses everything under the sun.
The MV's are very very powerful. When you say the older MPC's arent as advanced, what do you mean specifically?
Outside of effects, which arent so great on the newer models anyways,
they are more than capable of doing most anything you want.
Sounds like youre not sure what you want/need to do. Do your research-- try shit out. Buy used.

With alot of the workstations you mentioned, you'd have a preproduction studio without the computer.
if you like synths, youll probably want to upgrade the PSR, or use VSTs.
if you sample, yeah you should get a turntable.
you might want to look at a dj mixer to go inbetween your sampler and your turntable

dont play anyone your first beats. youll be proud of it, but it will be wack.

Thank you for yout help. And sorry for the confusion, so I'll try to clarify:

for a few reasons:

it's cheaper, and easier to get into, in a lot of ways, especially since you already have a midi controller, and it's all closed environment. I'd recommend FL Studio, cuz of the cost and the depth of the software and the free lifetime upgrades...but really at this point, it's all up to how you work.

Read up a lot, too...there's a grip of good sites out there.

check out:
futureproducers.com

gearslutz.com

In terms of hardware, I would advise against it, initially, cuz you may find you don't need it. Since you've never used an MPC before, I wouldn't hamstring myself with the pad-based interface just yet.

Thanks very much! I actually have all demo versions of FL studio, Ableton Live, and Reason... I'm liking Reason the most because of its sounds but it keeps crashing, so I can't really use it. Ableton is ok, but since its a demo I don't have that much to work with... and I'm honestly not feeling FL... but I need to have more time with it, I've only played with it a few times.

it's an insanely stable piece of software...you might need to upgrade your system or something. Try uninstalling and re-installing to see if that helps

As for FL Studio, you have to immport your own sounds to get it poppin, or really pimp the synths that are included.
