Now, I'm not asking where to find sounds (there's a million places to find sounds), but I just wanted to know how everybody else is working. This being okp, I'm thinking the answer is going to skew heavily towards crate-digging, but if you have a different approach, feel free to discuss.

I use Logic Pro 7....
I have Sonik Synth 2....which I bought for the synth pads & actually use the drum kits and grooves a bit...
I have a M-Audio 47 key MIDI Keyboard...and that is about it...
NI has a Free Kontakt player/sampler that I use hear and there for a few kicks and snares or maybe part of a pad...
I personally Try to mix it up..
Like I'll use a loop and just build entire beat around it with synths from logic..
Or I might just use all in Logic Sounds..
Try to vary it up. It helps keep things fresh and interesting..
I never focus on one thing, but at the same time I'm not great at any one thing because of it....I love options though..
I like tweaking presets , because presets are usually already mixed well for whatever sound they are going for, and you can just alter sounds from there while still maintaining a certain quality..
I'm not expert though, just some guy who makes beats/instrumentals/music in my basement...
