That first one has vocals and synth by my man, Russ-L. The 2nd one is all me, sampling from only 1 song.

i like the second one a lot except for the vocal stab (sounds kinda like a scratch and if a little off-putting), but otherwise cool beat...the first one...reminds of a streets beat or something..i like the strings a lot...might be cool to hear a singer over this instead of this guy (no offense)

Cool, like I said before, everything from that track was sampled from the same song. I like the vocal thing, but I can see how it might not quite fit. I'm hoping that putting some vocals on the track will fix that. Who knows.

That's funny, because Russ went with the accent specifically because he said it reminded him of that group. I had honestly never heard of them.

Yeah, my comments mirror those above. The first joint is alright, but I wasn't really feeling the vocals.

The second track, with the energy, works well. And I dig that little vocal "woo" that's in the mix --- cool arrangement of the horns too.

I like Retro. That chain-type sound reminds me of that one Dilla track. What was it? {checking for it on The Shining} Oh yeah, it's Jungle Love. It's really just that one sound that reminded me of the Dilla thing. Anyway, I like your track.

Woah with the beat juggling. Crazy. Pretty subtle, but it works.

I guess listening to this I'm kind of wanting more. Maybe another layer. As is, the track is super bassy and low-end heavy. I think another instrument added up in the mids to highs would work well here....maybe a horn section or something.

Also, there's a breakdown right toward the end of the track I think. Where the percussion kind of can breathe for a second since its not held down by the bass. You should maybe work some of those breaks earlier, because I think helps punctuate the track.

Thanks for the feedback.

That break at the end was just the layers peeling off. Really an unfinished end to the track, rather than a purposeful break. Although, I'll take that into consideration as I go back and work with this one some more.

Also, thanks for the suggestion of another instrument in the mid/high range to balance out the bass.

1. Great. Lots of energy. I love how you sequenced those vocal samples. They are obviously samples and not actually sung in that sequence, but they still flow together to articulate a groove. And I like the breaks for the full phrase from the original track. Good stuff.

2. This one is a little too repetitive for me. Yeah, I'm sure it's intended to just be a laidback groove, but it got boring to me. Maybe with some rhymes over it, I'd like it more. But as it is, I'd rank the other 2 beats way above this one.

3. I like this one a lot. Almost feels a little bit like a Gorrilaz type groove, with that light-hearted melody (vocals and horns) put through the filter of the more sad vibe of the string part. Really great layering of different timbres.
