"Let's talk about....well...us. (Pass The Popcorn Appreciation Post)"

The PTP crew that is.

This board has been the center of lots and lots of great threads over the past few years, and I, for one, have been turned on to many movies, directors, writers, comics, and writers due to it. Consider this the anti-IMDB bitching thread...because I happen to think this is my favorite board on Okayplayer (no disrespect to my Sports or Artist heads), and many of you have inspired me to check out so many artworks I would have never known about before.

I'll name names later, but yeah...I love this board.

PTP turned me on to some Anime I hadn't even heard of like Monster. With most of the "Best of.." posts, there are a lot of movies that PTPers know, that I haven't heard of (like Audition), and that leads me trying to learn more about the movie and if the premise sounded good, i start NetFlixing(it's a word) that movie.

So thanks PTP, for expanding this up-and-coming movie nerds knowledge.

No joke.

Hating that show can be pretty fucking lonely in a college town, and then I happen upon this archived thread that is a reasonably well thought-out critique of the show that I personally can't watch for 5 minutes despite everyone I know constantly getting high and pressing "play all."

'Twas truly beautiful to know that I wasn't alone, other intelligent people saw it for a fraud as well, and that my reasons for hating it went beyond simply resisting the sheep mentality of college cultural consumption. (And I don't mean to reopen debate. I've accepted that some people like the show, and that me and a few other PTP'ers are not one of them.)

And otherwise, yeah, the movie discussion here is almost always pretty fruitful. Very similar to the type of shit I talk with my movie watching friends, which is a good thing.

I think there's more that love it though.

In any case, I'm most definitely in the former category. IMO it's easily one of the two funniest shows on TV right now (along with The Office).

ive been going strong here going on 4 years now, and let me say, the time has flew by, while everything outside of okayplayer/ptp/reviews has felt like an eternity. that just proves how much i love this board.

if not for ptp, i never would have known the awesomeness of so many great movies and television shows. there has been a core group of people over the years that have really stuck it out, as others have come and gone sometimes making miraculous reappearances, you all know who you are.

what do you guys say we form a okaysports type thing and establish the first ever PTP/REVIEWS hall of fame/club? it can go in our sigs. or not, no skin off my back either way. just think it would be cool.

- The Best Of posts
- What Did You Watch Last Week?
- Best Directors Worst Films
- Weekly updates on TV shows (even those that I don't watch...it's great to see good TV getting some love on here...whether it be Arrested Development, The Office, The Wire, or any other show)
- Anything vs. Batman...featuring "Prep Time"
- Updates/news on projects OKPs are working on.
- The incessant clowning on City of God posts
- Oscar Prediction Time!
- The fact my "I'm On IMDB" post got anchored.
- The appreciation posts for underrated directors/actors/writers/etc.

It's been a weird experience for me on this board, as I came into posting on here regularly in 2002 (although I'd been lurking on OKP for some time before that) as a junior college student. From then until now, I have earned enough credits to get outta JC, apply/get accepted to film school, graduated film school Cum Laude, and made numerous films. Between film school, Netflix, and this board, I've learned more about film than I ever thought I would. I still enjoy learning and studying...moreso now that I'm not in school. Posters like King Friday, Ricky Butler, Mynoriti, AFKAP, bignick, DrNO, and so many others (don't be hurt if I didn't mention you, ya'll know) have made informative posts and have taught me so much...from schooling me on classic films, to cinematography, to giving me tons of comics to read (buckshot I see you), and beyond...this board has really added to my schooling (as well as taking away from it, ironically).

And a really brief clip of La Strada.

And all I really have to say about 8 1/2 is that I love it, it's beautiful, it's not often I like surrealist cinema, and it's one of the greatest pieces about creativity and its dilemmas ever made.

As for Bergman -- I can't tell you how many times I've rented his movies determined to study them all, but then I end up just watching the romantic comedy I got with it instead. His movies are taxing, man. Start a thread, though, and maybe I'll finally get around to watching them.

Ingmar Bergman was maybe the first "foreign" filmmaker I ever paid attention to. Persona was the movie that really got me hooked on foreign film.

Before that I mostly only knew about old hollywood movies.

"The Seventh Seal" and "Cries And Whispers" are two more of his movies I took to early on.

And I especially love the so-called trilogy made up of "Through A Glass Darkly", "Winter Light", and "The Silence".

Yes indeed.

His films aren't always easy to watch, but they can be extremely rewarding.

"And that's a good thing."

when it arrives on Criterion in January. Great, great film.

There are some 35mm Bergman prints traveling the country--albeit slowly. If you haven't already missed them, keep an eye out. Bergman in 35 with an audience is a wonderful experience.

Oh, hell yeah! I'm from Illinois, so I've felt your pain. You'll be pleased with the milder temps, although I get the feeling we're going to have a rougher winter than the last couple years. It's been colder, rainier and already there's a lot of snow in the mountains. Still, it'll be a walk in the park compared to the Midwest.

Compared to the other boards I frequent, PTPers are holding hands and singing underneath a rainbow. Yes, there are disagreements, disses and debates. That's part of being critical of movies, TV shows, books, etc. But they rarely degenerate into some of the stuff that you can find on other boards.

And the huge explosion in comic book discussion is about to bring me back into the fold.

Peace,

I like this forum, and more importantly, the people here...So far, it's single handedly psyched me up about comic books again, suggested good books I hadn't heard of, gotten me thinking more about standup comedy, and provided a nice forum where people actually post thoughts and arguements without resorting to childish bullshit. And tho I probably lost points with my Joe Rogan post (fuck it, yes he's annoying on TV, but his standup is great), I still dig it here.

Thank god there's no equivalent to the Nas/Jay-Z or 50 Cent shit over here...I don't think I'd like it as much if I had to wade through tons of "SALINGER LOST" or "You hate Batman because he's rich" posts...

Bringing you unpopular posts since 2003.

F'real though, this is about the only place I can go to talk movies. I can talk sports with my friends, or even music (somewhat), but when it comes to movies I feel like Seymour from Ghost World bringing up certain films. And talking movies with film snobs I've met has been even worse. For the most part there's a really good balance in taste around here, and generally a lack of childish drama. I've learned quite a bit about film from people on this board, and have been turned on to SO many good movies I probably would have never even heard of had it not been for this place. So thanks ya'll for schooling me, cracking me the fuck up, and making work days more tolerable…

Somewhat nerdier/more artsy-fartsy, not much in the way of chicks...but it's also less of the snobs you wanna knock the F out hanging around here...

But I like waxing obsessed about my favorite characters of various media. And like the others, it's by far the only reason to peep OKP.

I'm not sure I'd still frequent this site if not for PTP. I spend at least 95% of my okp time in here. Sure, we have our drama in here, but overall, PTP by far has the friendliest, coolest people of any message board, okp or otherwise. Other TV and film discussion boards pale in comparison. I am SO appreciative of how many great films I've been put on to from hanging around here. It nice being able to talk to fellow film geeks, because none of my non-okp friends are all that into films...especially the ones I tend to like.

And I love being able to come here and discuss my most favorite TV shows without feeling completely nuts for sometimes talking about the characters like they're real people. :-)

Besides that, y'all are an entertaining bunch who never fail to make me laugh every time I'm on here.

In particular, I've learned a lot about films from King_Friday, Sight_and_Sound, rickyB, Colonel Sanders, Mynoriti, Sponge, actualfact/navajo joe, DrNO, AFKAP, BlueNote, AmishRock...and most especially -- JANEY! *muah!* :-)

I've especially enjoyed talking books with johnny_domino and mrhood75.

General shoutouts (Oh man, I just know I'm gonna overlook a bunch. :-/ ):

Making reviewing and discussing comics more fun than actually reading them! Making the world a better place one geek at a time!

Props to all the former Lessonheads... maybe we can get Longo to let us talk about country music in here for one day a month or something. OkayCountry, only at Pass the Popcorn! (Speaking of which JR you never checked back in on your country post in the Lesson!) My man Friday, I'll get that CD out to you yet...

Thanks to Janey for the coolest, most generous idea I've seen on here with the book giveaways, and always for the recommendations.

of the maybe 15-20 hours a week on average i spend on okaypley, atleast 90% of that is spent in PTP. ive learned so many things about film from so many different people. im currently taking my first film class, and when the prof asked "is anyone familiar with Akira Kurosawa?" i raised my hand with maybe 3 other people in a class of about 500. i was like, damn! thanks PTP. i know so much about films by filmakers ive never even seen based on my readings of PTP posts.

ive also learned that its not all about knowing the history of film and obscure references that make a good film enthusiast. its also about the little things like a "Home Alone Appreciation" post or a great Batman Begins post.

ive learned so much, and had fun in the process. A toast to PTP and all its awesome inhabitants. Thank you.

i went with this girl to a movie tonight. as we're waiting for the ushers to finish their cleaning and the doors to open, she comments on the posters adorning the hall of the theatre. it's a indie type movie house, so they had their grandiose Shopgirl cutouts and all, but also a nice selection of "classic" films poster, e.g. Casablanca, Breakfast at Tiffanys, Cinema Paradiso. since we're standing in front of one for Rear Window, i calmly refer to it as a great movie (not "oh, my god, Hitchcock has an uncanny ability to create a rich composition, especially praiseworthy for the use of diegetic sounds!" *drools*). then she mentions that she's only seen parts of Birds and that's it from her and Hitchcock. i proceed, again still cool and collected, to remark that Vertigo is "another good one he did." then i get the dumb idea to name off Rope. "what's that about?"

well, let's just say that my answer was less than satisfactory. oh, i very eloquently explained the concept of continuous takes and all that technical loveliness, trying to detail the ingenuity that Hitchcock utilized in filming in approximate real time and such and such, so on that end, my geek needs were taken care of. but as i find myself quickly back home at 10PM on a Wednesday night, it appears my other needs were less than satisfied.

sitting in front of a rather flaccid computer screen bordered with grays, sexually unfilled, with mise-en-scene on the brain, i once again feel a bond with the Reviews/PTP family. at least the tickets were free.

Also, thank you all for allowing me the right to show my ass here on a regular basis (figuratively speaking!)... being a PA/writer's PA/ writer's assistant/ staff writer and beyond in this industry is a blessing, but it can also be mad stressful... in the words of any favorite verbal abuser of yours, thanks for putting up with my shit and I swear I'll never do it again... thanks to all of the playas I've bonded with/(momentarily) clashed with/yelled at/swore at/flirted with/"vehemently" disagreed with/ laughed at/ laughed with/ and vigorously co-signed over the years... there's too many of you *fabulous* people to name!

Well, it don't "suck" really, but there is some lame ass ninjaz up in this piece, god.

Posts like this show how insecure and mutually mastubatory y'all are, tho, for real.

I think Frank Longo is a good moderator and not a complete prick, but 90% of y'all have the exact same movie tastes, which is why y'all suck each other's cocks up and down these threads.

Because of me, you at least feel the need to try and rationalize your love of terrible QT films(all of them except Jackie Brown), but you never do effectively.

Y'all still automatically laud the "brilliance" and "radiance" of anything asian, when 90% of those films are excellent sleeping aids, but terrible films, with the same boring cliches and redundant themes and protagonists.

Y'all still hold an unfair double standard when it comes to comedy. Y'all will tell me 'Life Aquatic' was "radiantly funny" and "hilarious", and "brilliant" while telling me that 'Barbershop' was "ghetto" and "simplistic" and "stupid."

I'm not calling any names, but some of y'all niggas(as in black people, which makes it even sadder)tried to say 'Bewitched' was hilarious, than turn around and try to say that the Boondocks episodes have been average. Fukkouttahere.

Same way 99% of y'all say George Carlin is the best comedian of all time, which is simply a laugher. He has had good stand up routines, but he's got that title because mostly because he's supposed to be "deep" and is for the "thinking man." Most of y'all don't admit you like comicis lie say...Marin Lawrence...because he's "ghetto" and there is no "depth." That truth is, I'll take some of the best BET comics over most of Carlin's routines, and I actually like Carlin.

Y'all build your comedy tastes around making yourselves sound sophisticated. Y'all don't get cocktail party props if you admit you found Martin Lawrence's "You so crazy" funny, so you don't admit it.

I got every ounce of y'all brain power, and admit I found "You so crazy" funnier than 95% of Carlin's specials.

That's because y'all are predictable: If its odd or offbeat, you automatically call it "brilliant." Sometimes odd and offbeat is just odd and offbeat. And most of the time, it sucks.

I'm still mad at y'all for making me watch 'Happiness' for god's sakes. I could have spend that time scrubbing my bathtub.

And I want to box some of y'all for recommending 'Rushmore'. I didn't laugh at a single scene in that movie. Somehow, I "didn't get it" though and am supposed to feel unintelligent. Fuckouttahere.

I like most of the comic book posts, but the "versus" posts are pretty retarded for the most part.

You know I'm right.

One of the few places I'm allowed to be an unabashed geek about comics, cartoons, books, The Wire, etc.

I've been known to get completely immersed in this board for hours to the point of getting absolutely no work done for the entire day.

Thnaks to everyone I gabbed or jibbed with. To echo the feeling above, I'm glad that the arguments rarely get too personal around here, and most are able to discuss things like rational, intelligent adults.

You suckers have also got me to spend more money I don't have and comic books, which is quite annoying on some levels. I don't even have a place to put these things anymore.

Before I started lurking and then posting I had such little knowledge about classic films. And then between the posters here and my Netflix subscription I got into so many great classic movies.
The discussions about great directors- Hawks, Hitchcock, Ford, etc, and great foreign filmmakers like Kurosawa, Godard, Felini, etc, etc opened me up to so much.
For a long time this was the only board I would go to.
And like I think Mynoriti said, the only film geeks Ive meet in real life are just stright annoying snobs.
The people here are generally cool.

I have to thank especially Mynoriti, King_Friday, and also RickyButler, because early on I learned so much from their posts.

And it sucks that there isnt as much good classic film discussion now as there used to be.

But others as well who Ive enjoyed and learned from on this board:
Kurly, Ryan M, DawgEatah, DrNo the Canadian, Frank Longo, colonelk, bignick, and a whole bunch others.

I really need to come back here more often.

peace.

When I started posting here, I guess the first people I got to know were unknownone (Sight And Sound), Mynoriti, DrNo, and m.

Sight And Sound is still the film-knowledge champion of this board. One day I hope I can find one movie he hasn't seen just so I can say that I have.

Let's see. . .

Mynoriti is from California. He works in a postcard factory.

And while it's true DrNo is from Canada, he can still do anything an able-bodied person can do. I really respect that.

Yep. First I got to know those folks and then I made lots more pals:

There was Ricky Butler who brought a fierce, Scrappy Doo-like energy to the board.

And soon Colonel Sanders would arrive with his undying enthusiasm for Anthony Mann westerns, tasty fried chicken, and historical documents.

And what would we do without Janey And Kurlyswirl? I think it's so brave that even though they were born conjoined, they chose not to be separated through surgery. I mean what an inspiration! You know?

colonelk and BlueNote know more about movies than they're ever given credit for (people should really pay attention to their recommendations).

Ryan M is on imdb. Did he mention that?

Lonesome D mostly posts in the lesson but has been invaluable in my efforts to turn this board from a film forum to an all old-time country music board. (It could happen).

Other people who deserve personalized comments but won't be getting them because I'm tired of typing and I'm starting to make myself sick:

okaycomputer
Sponge
afkap
Deebot
Mr Mech
6feetdeepinthought
actualfact
frank longo
furious freddy
mc delta t

and lots more

But I can't remember everybody right now.

That'll have to do I guess.

So there?

No no, you've taken it the wrong way. I didn't mean it as an insult.

I just always thought of Ricky as younger than us, shorter than us, and full of extreme enthusiasm.

That's also how I think of Scrappy Doo.

I seriously meant it in a good way. And Ricky did indeed improve the board in the time when he was posting very regularly on here.

I just don't like the comparison. Scrappy is an ultra-annoying, miserable little shitbag. so many times I wish they'd have found remains of his mangled carcass stuck to the tires of the mystery machine.

(and this is coming from a guy who generally likes dogs more than most people.)

Speaking of worst dogs ever. . .

I went over to my dad's house the other day. He's got this big dog over there. Last time I was there it was really friendly. This time not so much. He was chained up in the back of the house (inside the house). I walked into the kitchen, about 30 feet away from the dog and it saw me and started growling.

I said, "Hey, buddy, what's wrong?"

I took another step toward it and the damn thing took off running full speed right in my direction, broke its chain right in half and stopped behind the kitchen table to look at me as if to say: "I'm fixin' to eat you, King Friday."

That was totally not cool.

It's funny you know. . . when you go from completely 100 percent safe (dog on chain) to totally not safe at all (chain broken) in just one split second.

It's a really unique sensation.

Anyway, I just slowly backed away from it until I was close enough to the door to run through it to safety.

But THAT is the worst dog ever.

I'm putting that dog on notice.

I'm not as deep into PTP like I was in my complete addiction to Reviews, but I'm slowly climbing my way back in.

This is how this place breaks down for me:

movies: King_Friday, Mynoriti, ricky_Butler, DrNo; and janey & kurly for huge documentary recs

books: lately janey, kurlyswirl, and johnny_domino have been unknowingly teaching me great things about books...because of this site I'm finally becomming an avid reader.

tv: I don't think anyone can touch kurlyswirl here, there isn't a show she doesn't watch, and if I remember correctly she got me watching Home Movies, for which I am forever in debt. Also the whole HBO crew for forcing me to finally catch up on all of those great shows, above all the hidden gem that is The Wire.

random nostalgia and constant laughs: DawgEatah

There are plenty of other PTP/Reviewers who's knowledge I have stolen in the past and I thank them all...these are just the few that have stuck out from my first days here, the people who's advice I will take blindly...whether they realized that or not, thanks.

and finally, one day in the future when I look at myself in the mirror and notice jean overalls rolled up to my knees with no shirt and a long yellow stem of grass in my teeth I will look back and think "How did I get here? When did I become this hick?"...I'll then realize that King_Friday and lonesome_d's (with a little help from DrNo) secret country music infiltration was the reason and I will curse them all.

it's 110 years old, front porch with swing and rockers, uneven walls, a dank basement I have to stoop to walk around in, it's on a creek/pond with woods on the other side, deer, skunks, ground hogs, squirrels, chipmunk, a hawk even ate a duck outside my back door. Ripped its head clean off. It was awesome.

But it only has two bedrooms, so we had to expand. So we bought a 1960 split-level, which is definitely NOT a country music house. The screened-in side porch is the closest I have to it.

The good news is the baby likes when I play the banjo for him.

And at the new house the TV won't be in the nursery, so I might be able to get a few more movies in and check in on movie posts on here.

So... I think we all need to get 4-tracks and form the Popcorn Country Revue.

We had a screened-in porch when I was a kid. My dad built it. It was big and built with bricks and there was lots of screen of course and my dad would go out there and watch it storm.

>
>The good news is the baby likes when I play the banjo for

My grandmother likes when I play the banjo. Only she's always asking me if I know some random old song from the 20s. She says "Do you know 'Spider Went A Courtin With Old Mary Ann' or 'I Put The File In The Pie So You Could Escape In Time For The Weddin' Uncle Joe'."

They always have some kind of crazy title like that.

I say "Um, no I don't know that one."

"Well why not!" she says.

And I say "Um, Grandma, wouldn't you just rather hear Cripple Creek again? And could you please stop shouting?"

Then I usually cry a little.

i know you just *need* the antagonism - somehow it validates you; not sure why - and i decided to be charitable so you could spew your bile and begone.

a few minutes later, i decided to rescind the gift, but oh well... you already responded.

>Besides, everyone knows they clicked and read my post.
>Everyone reads all of my posts, because well...they are
>fabulous.

"fabulous" LOL

i won't deny it: i DO read your posts whenever i see them... because i'm consistently amused by the depths of self-mockery you descend to in your neverending quest for attention.

i'm done now, though... go ahead and deliver your cheap parting shot. i shan't respond, and i doubt anybody else will, either. then it's back to desperate obscurity for you.

go ahead.

No, you couldn't hold back your attempt at sounding condescending, prollem is, shit never works on me.

Now you can tell me how I'm racist for liking the O'Jays more than the Beatles, and be on your "I'm such an eclectic-oustide-the-box as nigga" way.

No, you thought about what you wanted to do, than backed out like a bitch.

Attention?

Doe the words "Black Americans fucking kill me" mean anything to you?

I barely start posts at all. You are one of the largest attention seeking whores in this piece, you and your botched vocabulary.

>You posted a reply, then deleted it the second your conscience
>kicked in.

i did have second thoughts and delete my reply... however it wasn't my conscience that prompted me but my better sense. after all, an exchange like this is precisely what you were hoping to trigger when you stepped into the post again and again to repeat the same empty bullshit that nobody cared about. and i didn't want to be the one dumb enough to indulge you. but alas, i was... such is my weakness.

however, you know i'm not one to run from an argument (which is evident from the hopelessly convoluted back-and-forths i used to have in the Lesson)

but for the most part, i have a rule of only engaging in arguments with people who demonstrate the rhetorical ability and intellectual honesty to engage in a real discourse with actual substance rather than just looking for cool openings to hurl witty insults at others to make themselves feel better about themselves

besides, since i adopted the policy of not going back and forth with you, i have observed that (like most nimrods madly in love with their own voices) if you're left prattle on by yourself long enough, you WILL eventually completely contradict any feeble point you had in the first place and do the job for me. so i'd rather just sit back and laugh at you,

you want evidence of this? (unlike you, i tend to back up my statements) with a click of the "search" tab i produce examples of how your compulsive need to be contrarian leads to contradict yourself even in the same post.

but i'm sure you don't want to see the evidence. you're not in this game to actually deal with "facts" or solid arguments of any kind. you're here to look for opportunities to insult other people to bolster your own feeble sense of self. why, i'm not sure... that's an issue for your psychologist to deal with.

for now, here's an opportunity for you to comment on how i talk and talk and talk and talk with my "botched vocabulary" (LOL) to make myself feel special and to deliver to me the devastating information that "niggas don't like me."

LOL

you stupid, thimblebrained black porch monkey. *smh*

you'd actually garner some grudging respect from me if you had the courage to admit that you misused the word "botch" (among others), learned from your mistake and we'd all move on to the next round of stupid insults. none of us is perfect, and the insbility/refusal to admit one's errors is a glaring indicator of insecurity coupled with bullheadedness to form a collosal wall of foolishness that no reason can ever hope to penetrate.

and THAT, my friend, is why people don't like YOU. not because your so-called "arguments" are impregnable... but because your dogged stupidity is.

when an alleged adult it so committed to stupidity - and so smug and satisfied in it - it's not even worth bothering.

I almost cried reading this.

I'm honestly moved.

Remember you always bring this on yourself.

You responded to me first. Do keep that in mind.

>i did have second thoughts and delete my reply... however it
>wasn't my conscience that prompted me but my better sense.
>after all, an exchange like this is precisely what you were
>hoping to trigger when you stepped into the post again and
>again to repeat the same empty bullshit that nobody cared
>about. and i didn't want to be the one dumb enough to indulge
>you. but alas, i was... such is my weakness.

Okay, so you were a vagina by deleting your post instead of standing up to your guns and approaching me like a grown man.

That was bitch made. End of story.

Its okay tho. You're a herb for other reasons.

Read on.

>however, you know i'm not one to run from an argument (which
>is evident from the hopelessly convoluted back-and-forths i
>used to have in the Lesson)

And you aren't one to make very many good arguments of any kind. From here to the lesson, your arguments are the same, as is your washed up schtick:

"I am a more eclectic, out-side-the-box negro than anyone here."

You are a strange negro, definately, but electic? No. Very bland, actually.

You love to impress white people with how "different" you are, and you typically laud mediocre white things, and chastise black things, in order to communicate this to the world.

You'll talk about how the modern music of central Cyprus has more soul than Modern American R@B, or that black people cannot lay claim to Jimi Hendrix, or some other permutation of dumb shit, that is never adequately defended.

Not only are most of your arguments utter bullshit, you don't actually believe it(perhaps I'm giving you more credit than you deserve). Its just you trying to further build your "I'm so different and eclectic" resume.

The truth is, I'm just as intelligent and cultured as you are, and find the Beatles boring as shit, yet find Lil' Wayne and Dipset exciting and dynamic young ARTISTS.

What bothers you is, most Lil' Wayne and Dipset fans are younger, and less educated than you(most of the boards, probably) so you enjoy talking down to them, and being able to impress them with how you know where they sampled some guitar from.

Prollem is, you can't quite impress, nor talk down to Orbit_Established.

I've lived in several countries. Visited many others. Lived in different states. Experienced different cultures. Tickled different pussies. Read in different languages.

Yet I understand that being "eclectic" isn't about any of the above. Some of the most "eclectic" cats I know never left the hood.

And because of that I understand what being "against the grain" is all about, and don't start beef with Afro-punkers because their culture is "non musical." I let them do what they do, because god damn it, they can do whatever the fuck they like.

Ironically, for all this talk about "Orbit_Established feels himself....he's arrogant...he's pompous..."....I'm actually the least pretentious, down to earth, fair cat around here, and its reflected in how I respect simplicity in art, and artists, and not all these over-arching efforts at depth, the type of shit all y'all laud.

>but for the most part, i have a rule of only engaging in
>arguments with people who demonstrate the rhetorical ability
>and intellectual honesty to engage in a real discourse with
>actual substance rather than just looking for cool openings to
>hurl witty insults at others to make themselves feel better
>about themselves

You could have replaced "rhetorical ability" with several different phrases and your sentence would have been the same. And what the fuck do you mean by "intellectual honesty?" How about general honesty? For god's sakes, shut the fuck up.

>besides, since i adopted the policy of not going back and
>forth with you, i have observed that (like most nimrods madly
>in love with their own voices) if you're left prattle on by
>yourself long enough, you WILL eventually completely
>contradict any feeble point you had in the first place and do
>the job for me. so i'd rather just sit back and laugh at you,

I contradict myself?

Hmmm.

Yet you responded to me, before you deleted your post like a little bitch, trying to say "no one is responding to you..." when in fact, you just responded to me, acknowledging my presence, and affirming that, in fact, people did read my post, were acknowledging me but were just too scared to reply.

So you actually *did* contradict yourself in this very thread.

>you want evidence of this? (unlike you, i tend to back up my
>statements) with a click of the "search" tab i produce
>examples of how your compulsive need to be contrarian leads to
>contradict yourself even in the same post.

I don't engage in searches of any of you any of you, because you guys are boring. I'm fucking flattered tho. Half of you niggaz have my name search bookmarked, and that is the first thing you do when you log on.

And I know you've googled me thousands of times.

>you stupid, thimblebrained black porch monkey. *smh*

But do "black american thimblebrained black porch monkeys fucking kill you?"

Lol.

>you'd actually garner some grudging respect from me if you had
>the courage to admit that you misused the word "botch" (among
>others), learned from your mistake and we'd all move on to the
>next round of stupid insults. none of us is perfect, and the
>insbility/refusal to admit one's errors is a glaring indicator
>of insecurity coupled with bullheadedness to form a collosal
>wall of foolishness that no reason can ever hope to
>penetrate.

That last sentence was one of the 3 worse sentences I've ever read, ever. You'd think the fact that you sleep with a thesaurus and dictionary might mean you know a thing or two about sentence structure.

Anger is not good for grammar. Calm down.

>and THAT, my friend, is why people don't like YOU. not because
>your so-called "arguments" are impregnable... but because your
>dogged stupidity is.

Actually, peope *DO* like *ME*.

People like *YOU* don't, but that is a compliment, because I find you to be a bizarre, strange, negro who I want nothing to do with.

>when an alleged adult it so committed to stupidity - and so
>smug and satisfied in it - it's not even worth bothering.

Yet you just wrote me a dissertation telling me why you don't like me.....because I'm not "even worth bothering" with.

Another contradiction. Well done, vagina man.

Get the fuck outta here.

spare me your life story, dude... nobody cares. do you, though

the one point i do find worthy of metion, though: you keep on bringing up this bizarre anecdote about me trying to start feuds with the Afropunkers who were minding their own business

apart from the inaccuracy of that particular story... how exactly is that different from what you did in this post (and many others)?

I'm not homophobic, tho.

I'm several standard deviations above the mean, but I generally only discuss this with Homo sapiens that have vaginas, because well, they get to see and play with it.

That's where I am when you guys are watching Samurai Sunfall XI.

Kumbayaaaaaaaa my looooooord, kumbayaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

Yeah, we pretty much rule.

Anyplace you can talk about film noir, comic books, porn stars and Denver the Last Dinosaur is okay in my book.

Not gonna list names because I might accidentally leave someone out. Some of you are damn informative, some of you are just damn funny. And a lot of you are both. But pretty much everybody here has played some part in my enjoyment of this place. Most of you hopefully know who you are. Others unfortunately might not. So if you're reading this, just assume I'm talking about you right now.

Okay, that's about all the warm fuzziness I can handle at one time.
