It's not as close as it appears but its not very far apart either. Elmo has the hardware advantage in Finals (3mvps) + Regular season (2mvps) + team wins + alpha dog status longer.
Never missed playoffs, team never won less than 50 games, (4) titles as alpha-dog, (3) finals mvps ... cmon!

Technically 2000 was the last year of the 90s (and millenium0 and 2001 was the first year of the 00s (and new millenium),making 2010 the 10th and last year of the new millenium, making 2011 the first year of the new decade.
But you're right -- people ignored this and had these discussions last year.
