by that logic, you could say the same for MJ when he snapped on xavier mcdaniel against the knicks in the '92 playoffs.

& plus, artest is a little bitch. what nba player doesn't wanna fuck him up?

that shove was like a check in the mail anyway, it was bound to come....

i can't even call it. i know that few teams were as smart as those bulls and there is still NO PLAYER as unstoppable in the NBA as jordan was.

kids ages 7, 8, 9 can't be obsessed with basketball while growing up? it's not like we didn't spend all our time watching games and taking the train into different towns to buy basketball cards. ask me anything about those days.

stacey king made 3x the money scottie pippen made in the 90-91 season.

it was danny ainge's back pippen had the classic inbound pass off the back of.

horace grant didn't wear goggles until the second round of the 91 playoffs.

hell, i know what happens in all the championship games each and every play like scenes in a movie since i bought the 90s dvd package with all the full games

y'all don't know what your up against here....

So do the Sacramento Kings beat the '95 bulls when they were tearing up regular season records in the early 2000's????

Since when do we grade teams success to THE "GOAT" teams when it has only been 33% of the friggin season....

#3 - Pippen would totally render Rip Hamilton helpless.
#4 - Ron Harper is twice Chauncey's size and would drive him nuts.

>#1 - Dennis Rodman would drive Ben and Rasheed insane.

drive them insane? it's ben & rasheed, not karl malone. they thrive on shit talking, if anything it would bring out a beast in 'sheed. not to mention that 'sheed shoots the 3 so that would have to spread out the bulls defense and leave lots of openings. and not to mention that rodman didn't really *play* the center position, most of the time that was left to luc longly & bill wennington, which i'm pretty sure is advantage pistons

>#2 - MJ would abuse and I mean ABUSE Rip Hamilton.

just like MJ abused reggie miller? oh wait, reggie miller got a few game winning shots in on MJ, and rip is a reggie miller clone. not saying that MJ couldn't handle rip, but he wouldn't "abuse" him just because he's smaller. rip would run MJ round the court all day and in which case that would prolly effect MJ offensive game (keep in mind, indiana took chicago to 7 games in '98)

>#3 - Pippen would totally render Rip Hamilton helpless.

prolly, except he'd be up against tayshaun prince, and for the first time in pippen's life, he'd be matched up against someone with just as long a wingspan as him, which was pippen's biggest plus against most players.

yeah, rasheed who has PROVEN to be a loose cannon at times would definitely lose his fucking guord with rodman baiting him. are you serious dog, do you WATCH BASKETBALL? much respect to big ben but NOBODY EVER worked harder for a rebound then rodman.

>they

rodman did't talk nearly so much as he physically antagonized other players

jordan, harper, pippen, kukoc, rodman? quite a familiar lineup for them to use.

yes, reggie and EVERYBODY ELSE who tried to guard him.

what's your point? reggie made some shots but how often can you say he outplayed jordan?

yes, yes he would. he would post him up ALL DAY, EVERY DAY.

>rip would run MJ round
>the court all day and in which case that would prolly effect
>MJ offensive game (keep in mind, indiana took chicago to 7
>games in '98)
jordan routinely guarded the best offensive non-center of the other team and did a GREAT job of it and STILL put in his points at the other end. you forget son, he played BOTH SIDES OF THE FLOOR as well as any have in history, clearly better than anyone playing today.

pippen is more athletic than anyone tayshaun has had to guard and yes his wingspan would give him more of a challenge, but he's far from the athlete, ball handler, or passer that pip was

on this one i'll give you SOME. because chauncey is real, harper is a bit taller but chauncey is strong. this would be a tough matchup for harper, i think almost a wash.

the one X factor the pistons don't have is MJ. unfortunately for the league during the 90s, neithre did anybody else.

yes yes, MJ would post up on RIP. MJ post up on everybody during his second comeback, so that's nothing new there. i never said MJ couldn't guard rip, all i'm saying is RIP runs around the floor in a very chatoic style simmilar to reggie miller, almost better than reggie miller but you wouldn't know it because RIP doesn't use it to shoot nothing but 3's.

yes i KNOW! mofos need to stop schooling a chicago bulls biographer. yes michael shuts down his defenders, but the times he's been in trouble in the past is when he has to waste energy to chase around small quick streaky shooters (reggie miller, john starks anybody?)

nah, i'd put prince and pippen pretty much dead even. yes pippen is more talented, but prince since he entered the leauge has always had a big chip on his shoulder and has a lot of heart ('03 playoffs when tayshaun single handedly won the second round for the pistons before they were a force to be wreckin with)

are you STUPID? of course you are. i didn't say it was their STARTING LINEUP you crackfiend. i said it was a POPULAR lineup for them to USE. DID YOU WATCH THE GAMES?

everyone who watches basketball is well aware of this, and they DO know it, contrary to your unpopular beliefs.

he wasn't "in trouble" in the past during their dynasty. he had challenges, but never "in trouble." bottom line, he got the shit done, and keep in mind starks, although a streakier shooter than rip, was more explosive going to the basket; also, reggie miller had a heigh advantage over jordan, rip doesn't.

>nah, i'd put prince and pippen pretty much dead even. yes

prince is NOT as versatile as pippen. he's made great plays and has done what was asked of him, but he did not shoulder NEARLY the responsibilities that pippen did during the bulls run. pippen's greatest attribute was that more than any other player in history besides bill russell, he could put his footprint on an entire game without contributing a lot in the points column.

>and also keep in mind that the bulls always beat teams in the
>championship series that never had a *real* center position

lol i really shouldn't be upset at you, when i was ten years old (your age when you witnessed all of this) things looked a hell of a lot different from when i got older too. during the bulls championship runs, they defeated alonzo mourning, patrick ewing, brad daugherty, shaquille o'neal, kevin duckworth (who was nice with the blazers and a definite center, say about him what you will), bill laimbeer/james edwards, rik smits, greg ostertag (he's a center, despite what your subjective feelings say). they beat EVERYONE before them. was it their fault they didn't have a "great" center to face in the finals? they beat enough great ones along the way. and btw, their centers were quite pedestrian as well so it wasn't like not playing a *real* center gave them a HUGE advantage in the middle, their guys were always still the deficiency. keep in mind the pistons don't have a "real" center either, so by your own logic, the bulls would be able to handle them just fine.

really i can't argue with a ten year old's memories so i'll just stop here.

& that Jazz team was pretty good too. A lot of great teams didn't get championship because of MJ. No shame in that.

Define "drive them crazy" because I think with both Wallaces the Pistons are actually the better rebounding team. Too bad they are also the worse shooting team.

but if you didn't know, Pippen would guard point guards sometimes. Nevermind runaround-thru-screen guards like Hamilton. But now that I think about it, Pippen would probably be assigned to Billups. That was just how Pippen rolled. Jordan would probably defend Rip. And Rip isn't nearly as crafty with drawing fouls as Reggie Miller (something everyone forgets), and Jordan would be able to handle Rip. I already know what the worm would do. And he'd get position on the great Ben Wallace for boards. Prince would have to guard tall-ass Kukoc... Man, why are we debating this? The Bulls have proven their worth. Pistons have more work to do. They're a great team, but you're trying to compare them to the 72 win Bulls. Come on.

A lesser Bulls championship team treated an even greater Pistons championship team five years before the 72 win season. They keep trying to come up with this type shit to save face after they made one of the biggest punk moves in sports history the way they exited the court that day. They know they'll never have anything on us again so they try telling themselves shit like this. I'm not surprised.

Lemme briefly recap this all for you:
1) Only once was Mourning an 8th seed against the Bulls
2) In the '92 playoffs the Bulls beat Ewing and the Knicks in the 2nd round, they beat Brad Daugherty (one of the most underrated centers of the time) and the Cavs (who had the 2nd best record in the East w/ 57 wins) in the East Finals.
3) In the '93 playoffs the Bulls beat Ewing and the Knicks in the East Finals (despite the Knicks having the better record and home court advantage...infamous Charles Smith blocked 5 times in the closing seconds).
4) In the '96 playoffs the Bulls swept Shaq and the defending East champion Orlando Magic (who had the 2nd best record in the East w/ 60 wins) in the East Finals.
5) In the '97 playoffs the Bulls beat down Mourning and the Heat( who had the 2nd best record in the East w/ 61 wins) in the East Finals.

That's just a snap shot. The Bulls beat down teams better than any of these teams today on their way to the finals. Let's not forget our past.

The Knicks would have been pushing the Pistons up and down the court. Oakley would have been brutalizing them cats. Ron Harper, Greg Anthony, Anthony Mason, and John Starks would ride with their arms on these little Pistons up and down the court. And there's no way Ben Wallace could do a thing with Ewing because Patrick would take him outside and draw him away from the boards. Man, these young cats forget that even the rules were different back then. We can't tell em nothing.

And I thought about it for a min but I think considering that those Bulls would have had homefield in a 7 games series, I don't think Pistons would have taken them out.

Could they win 3 games? Maybe. But I don't think would have won the series because that team had a veteran presence, that already had a few championship rings between them, and would have figured out the Pistons by the 4th or 5th game of the series.

It would be a damn good series to watch though.

As impossible as this is to prove, that team was unstoppable. The teams back then were better and I honestly think the pistons woulda lost to the Knicks and the Jazz back then, who repeatedly lost to the Bulls when it mattered.

How old were you when the Bulls won their first championship? I gotta figure you were still rocking pull-ups and velcro shoes, by 96 you musta been in fourth grade or some shit. If Mike and them could surmount the Bad Boys, this bunch doesnt have anything new to throw at them. Jordan's Bulls were very stingy defensively and could hurt you a number of ways at the other end. If all else failed, Jordan threw the squad on his back. Think of Kobe's best nights, add about 50% and then think of them happening consistently during the playoffs.

And you will know MY JACKET IS GOLD when I lay my vengeance upon thee.

start there before you even begin to pit them against the jordan/pippen/rodman bulls. chances are, the '88-90 pistons beat this detroit team hands down.

I thought I implied that but if not, definitely a deeper, more talented offensive team whose defense terrorized the league could beat the current Pistons.

ok, but....

Ben Wallace >>> Luc Longly, Bill Wennington, Bill Carwright & any other 90s Bulls lames excuse for a center but it didn't matter because they never played teams with a good center anyway

Chauncy >>> Ron Harper, Randy Brown, John Paxton, etc.

Rasheed >>> Rodman, Jud Bushler, any other backup power forward.

but the point is, when you put chauncy, rip, tayshaun, sheed, & big ben on the floor, they aren't just the pistons, they form voltron or some shit. when was the last time you could name a starting line-up with 5 go-to players & no filler?

if ron artest hadn't cracked MJ ribs while he was working out getting in again in the summer, which caused him to not work out the rest of july-august '01, coming into trainning camp out of shape & having a domino effect on his aging knees, which pretty much fucked up his third comeback.

These Pistons are the best team in basketball at this day in age, no question

But back in the mid 90's...especially that 95-96 Bulls team...no way in hell.

Jordan would EAT EAT EAT EAT Rip and Tay-Tay
Pippen could pick up the slack

And Rodman would handle Big Ben...remember Rodman went up against guys like Malone, Shaq, etc. and got the better of them on the boards...Rodman would definitely hold his own on Wallace and Wallace.

The Pistons MAY beat them a game, so Bulls 4-1
There were other playoff teams that year that probably could've beaten the Pistons

Abdul Jabbar, Muggsy Malone you

People forget that Jordan stopped several hall of famers from getting rings. That '97 Jazz team was a beast. Kemp and Payton were monsters. Magic, Barkley, Drexler... it just goes on and on. The Pistons would have had a hard enough time trying to get past the handcheck all day Knicks. Nevermind the Bulls.

geez, it's not like they LOST the way the lakers went out in 2004.

not to mention, the pistons have given the spurs the "jon benet ramsey" treatment *twice* this season already (including on the spurs home floor)

so by that logic.....

they lost. idiot. in a seven game series. the spurs were the better team.

as far as losing to the pistons this season - THAT DOESN'T MEAN SHIT.
the spurs lost to the sonics two out of three times last year. unfortunately for the pistons, beating the spurs in the regular season doesn't give them the championship and doesn't mean they're the better team.

they were the best team in 2004.
they were the best team in 2005 (take away a pacer fight that haunted and followed them around all season, causing suspentions that prolly forced them to loose games and lose home court advantage & larry brown intewviewing with cavs/knicks during the whole playoffs)
and they will be the best team in 2006. fuck a jinx motherfucker.

the pistons are a better team.

when they are together, they become an entity greater then themselves, like they become voltron or some transformer type shit. they just all complement each other so perfectly.

they don't *need* someone to get 40 points to win because they are much more balanced. they have 4 offensive weapons on the floor. they could beat the bulls by letting michael getting 50 and shutting down everybody else. they could let pippen get his 20-25 and *shut everybody else down*. ron harper, ha! chauncy would be laughing at him all game long. luc longly would probably foul out by the 3rd quarter. toni kukoc was pretty inconsistent and had a antoine walker knack for launching up (and missing) many a 3 point attempts. the bench was pretty iffy since they never had to use more than 7 people in their lineup. the pistons would win with either rasheed or chauncy having a team high of 29 points (give or take 5).

i don't get why you guys think i'm so crazy here (i can already see this line being used in a few "reply with quote" firebacks very soon). i know how good the bulls are. i grew up with them and watched all their games (not just NBC, were talking WGN with red kerr). not only that, but i know how close they've come to fucking up and losing it all!

i think 70% of you assclowns have only sat through highlight films of MJ and think he was doing this stuff every game. not all his games were like the highlights seen on michael jordan's playground....

look what the pistons did to shaq & kobe? JON BENET RAMSEY'D those bitches! 4-1. they were 3 time champions. yes, not on the same level as the bulls, but you can see they way they handled them (in a drama free, no fighting, no larry brown taking new jobs during the second round of the playoffs bullshit).

if you don't have the bulls and the pistons going 7, but since you guys are sports nazis i'll tone it down, if you don't have these 2 teams going *atleast* 6 games against each other (hand checking or not lach), then you are a broken scale when it comes to this subject.

Ron Harper, Steve Kerr, Randy brown
Michael Jordan, Jud Buechler
Scottie Pippen, Toni Kukoc
Dennis Rodman, Dickey Simpkins, Jason Caffey
Luc Longley, Bill Wennington

Chauncey Billups, Carlos Arroyo
Rip Hamilton, Maurice Evans
Tayshaun Prince, Carlos Delfino
Rasheed Wallace, Antonio McDyess, Jason Maxiell
Ben Wallace, Darko Milicic, Dale Davis

PG - The Pistons have a clear advantage, in my opinion. Ron Harper was a really good player with his IQ, but that's not enough to top a Billups/Arroyo duo.
SG - The Bulls win this one. Rip would likely tire Jordan out more than usual but I'd bet money that Jordan would still shut him down and go for 40 points.
SF - There's no contest here. Pippen has such an advantage over Prince it's not even funny. I cannot believe how evenly they've been spoken of in this post.
PF - Easy advantage to the Bulls. Rodman would own Rasheed. I mean, you saw Rodman play. You've seen Rasheed play. Rodman obviously eats his touches.
C - Definite advantage to the Pistons. Ben Wallace would probly force Luc and Bill into retirement. Ben would likely have 4 boards for every 1 board Luc had.

Kukoc is better than anyone the Pistons have off their bench.

The Bulls have 3 players in Pippen, Rodman, and Jordan, who may very well be able to shut down almost any player in NBA history that they get thrown on. Name any player they've guarded and it's guaranteed they've shut them down b4. The Pistons certainly don't have any exceptions in Billups, Rip, and Sheed. The Pistons in return don't have anyone on their roster that could shut down Jordan (or even Pippen, in my opinion, too smart for that).

I fully expect that a series between those two teams would ride-or-die on Rip for the Pistons. If he can be a big enough offensive weapon it might force the Bulls to change their game plan. I honestly can't picture him putting up any appreciable stat lines against Jordan tho. Don't forget, Jordan is not only the best offensive player in NBA history, he's also clearly one of the best defensive players in NBA history.

This Pistons team just couldn't do it. Not to say they couldn't win a couple.

yes. the bulls were boss. they never lost.

but they came pretty f-in close a couple times (i know, i was on the edge of my seat. granted i was ages 7-13, so i must have no understood the drama as much as a 15-20 year old did, right lach? :::shakes head in disgust:::)

they've been pushed to 7 game series atleast 2 times (92 knicks, 98 pacers) and maybe a game 5 against the cavs in the earily 90s but i'm not sure about that.

all i'm saying is that the teams that came close to the bulls (yes i know, they still won), the pistons could WAX!

ben wallace
rasheed walllace
tayshaun prince
rip hamilon
chauncy billups

could easily match up with those started lineups (which off the top of the dome were something like.....)

rick smits
antonio davis
dale davis
reggie miller
mark jackson

&

patrick ewing
charles oakley
xavier mcdaniel
greg anthony
john starks.

now, let there be 30 more posts on how the pistons couldn't beat these teams because in the 90s there was "handchecking" and some other weak spinzone bullshit.....

you REALLY don't know what you're talking about. Don't get it twisted. This current Pistons team is great. But other than the Spurs and Heat, this league is REALLY young. The Pistons have good solid experienced players at every position and they hold that advantage to the majority of the teams today. But in the mid-90s, you had a whole lot of cats in their primes roaming around with very very good teams. Don't forget that.

but you're hyping them up like they're at the top of their game (as seen in #77 along with the replies underneath)?

and then dogging the pistons by saying everyone in the leauge is too young?

not buying it.

These Pistons haven't proven what Jordan and his Bulls proved. Period. But they jump out to 29-5 and suddenly they can beat one of the greatest teams in league history? lol. Do you hear how that sounds when you say it to yourself? I'm done.

mistermaxxx says:

"i agree with you.take into consideration zone defense, take into consideration the many people that went in&out on Kobe during this game.mind you His shots were contested tonight. not to mention no hand checking now. the game is more Offensive these days.it's easy to get caught up in the Past great Players&whatnot, but the styling of the game is so different these days. your Argument holds strong just on the way they dealt with the Lakers in the Finals. never went to double team Shaq.they never stopped Shaq, but they also weren't leaving there style behind. they throw so many different looks to Kobe. you can score on them, but you gonna get shut out somewhere. Smush Parker had cheap poitns tonight. Kobe had a Quiet 39 points if you will. they can do that to you. scary part about the Pistons tonight: they played a B- level game tonight&still were in cruise control. never Broke a sweat.Jordan&Pippen might score alot, but who else could beat the current Pistons??"

Them cats couldnt even make it out of the Eastern Conference Finals tonight. How are they going to beat the 95-96 Bulls? And another thing is the longer it takes them to win another NBA Title the more it's making they're 2004 Championship look like a fluke.
