There's definitely situations where I could defend it, such as a devastating injury. But last night was ridiculous, the game ain't even decided yet and you're the best player walking around like a basketcase. How are your teammates supposed to maintain their composure when their best player and leader has lost it?

You gonna lose your composure because another player on the team is acting bitch-made? Please.

If anything, that's when true leaders step up and get shit done.

emotion gets the best of us all, i personally felt morrissons pain @ that moment

it takes a big man to lose complete control of his emotions on national tv, w/ thousands in the stands, to just lay out & sob like a lil girl whose favorite doll just got run over

he is knee deep in the best redneck gunch the state of washington has to offer

meanwhile...you are @ your job...typing

Morrison has shown he's a psycho when he smashed the ball against his head a million times in the other game. Now his team still has a very legitimate chance to win, and he breaks down instead of focusing on winning? *shakes head*

If you're injured, go ahead and cry. Shit, even after a game it's easy to get very emotional. But before the game is over? ESPECIALLY if you still have a very real chance at winning? I don't really feel that.

1. Some sort of devastating injury
2. Someone's retiring after the game (thus, the last minute or two of the game cats get choked up)
3. Death of a loved one, and you decide to play (ex: Francisco Garcia last year in Louisville, when his brother got killed)

That's it

All these cats saying that it's full of emotion, fuck the bullshit. If you're crying because you're LOSING (not lost the game, LOSING the game) suck that shit up and keep playing. That's certified bitch...there's no ATHLETE, man or woman, that justifies this, especially on the court/field whatever.

If you're still in the game, and the game isn't decided and you get emotional and cry, you're a straight up bitch. That's not being a macho dude, that's being competititive. It ain't over...suck that shit up and ball, and stop crying! ESPECIALLY if you're the leader of the team (like Morrison) and you break down...fuck that. No excuse

Soft ass Morrison...no excuse whatsoever for that

If you're LOSING (meaning the game isn't over) and you can STILL WIN...what the hell you crying for?

>men are human sometimes your emotions get the best of you
What are you getting emotional for? You ain't lose yet

>whats wrong w/ crying anyway
It depends on what you're crying about. Crying about a game that isn't over if you're supposed to lead the team is straight bitch

>crying means youre a bitch
Again, it depends on what you're crying for

That's you...crying because a movie moved you, and crying because you haven't lost yet are different

gonzaga got a shot off at the end of the game.

what if the pass had gone to morrison instead? with his emotions having already gotten the better of him, would he have been able to get off a good shot?

would he have been able to even see the basket clearly through the tears?

But I know I'm not gonna cry in a pickup game if I'm down 10-9.
If I gotta chance to win, why cry...suck it up and do your best.

If you lose and cry fine...but crying before the game is over...come on now, that's inexcusable (especially if you're the leader of the team, and everyone's looking to you)

however morrison knew there was a 99.9% chance the game was over when they lost posession w/2 seconds left. in my mind this is different than crying with 2 minutes left when you foul out or something.

can we all just agree on this:

seeing JJ Reddick cry was beautiful?

The thing is, in the NCAA tournament, there's no game that's safe until the clock runs out...so crying before you at least go for the win/tie to me is bitching...but we'll agree to disagree

>can we all just agree on this:

That was beautiful...but not as beautiful as Derek Fisher crying when the Spurs beat the Lakers that year (I think in 2003)

If you lose, then do so with some dignity. I understand watery eyes after an emotional game (win or loss) but that full-out boo-hooing is too much to me.

Rex hit scenarios that are bigger than a win or a loss.

You haven't LOST...if the game is over and you cry, I don't have a problem with that at all

If the GAME ISN'T OVER and you start crying, SUCK IT UP and ball...that's it.

This isn't after the game...this is during the game and your team is down, but not out...you gonna cry? Come on man

And that was different
Because there was NO time on the clock, and the team was down 1. He makes both, they win, he makes 1 they tie.

He missed both, they lost. He was at the line all by himself, with ZERO seconds on the clock.

He choked bad, broke down and cried...fine. I don't have a problem with that. But it's not like he had the ball, down 1 with 3 seconds left and starting crying.

And to be honest, I found it funny, because he was cocky with his all game, and even before the game, and got humbled. (It was Memphis, and they needed that game to get into the tournament)

he thought the game was over, as in he thought the clock had run out during that last scramble for the ball...he probably thought time had run out, and if you're that emotional, you can't just suck it up and not cry...its not like he didnt end up going to the key while dude from ucla shot his free throws...all that being said, its still pretty suspect, but anybody who is trying to use this as a knock against morrison's prospects as a pro is an idiot, and maybe morrison isnt going to be a 10 time all star but he will be a solid offensive player, anyone who says otherwise is just hating

but i refuse to believe that he knew there was time left on the clock...i mean, i've never seen ANY player cry during a game like that, and morrison is crazy but he's intense, and he's a player, he's trying to win the game...he prob just made a mistake, did his best to pull himself together for the last less than 2 seconds, and then he really lost it...like i said, obviously poorly played on his part, but i think a lot of people on this board just hate morrison...let them hate, he's gettin paid come draft day

i don't hate morrison, and i had no problem with him bawling after the game, but i think its more feasible to believe that he thought the game was still going on then to assume that he must have thought it was over.

Lol the first thing cats do when they take a heartbreaking 'L' is look at the scoreboard in disbelief anyway.

They didn't even go try to buck him up. Before or after the game. He's there crying in the middle of the floor, and it was Bruin dudes that came to console him. His own players just left him there to cry.

Bitches, all of them.

Personally, I don't think Morrison was crying because he gave up. It was shock because shit fell apart so fast. It was one of those "Oh no this can't be happening" things as opposed to "we just lost" tears.

that comes with the one-loss-and-you're-out side of the ncaa tournament. morrison whailing and laying out on the floor was no different than what penny hardaway did his last college game. morrison's an emotional player and that side comes with it. he exalts with joy when he wins big games and he cries when they lose.

Difference is: They had NO chance to win
Morrison HAD a chance to win, and cried...thus certifying him as a bitch

It's not crying on the court, it crying IN THAT SITUATION, thinking the GAME IS OVER when it's not. Everyone on here knows that emotions run high, but damn, you still got a chance to win and you crying...suck that shit up and ball

If they were down by 4 or more points, it changes everything. But they were in a winnable game, and he lost it...that's unacceptable.

And it's not like he hasn't BEEN in those situations before, so this isn't new to him...there was no excuse for that

So you think it's okay to lose your composure when your team still has a chance to win?

Do we even need to go through the list of games that were won with *less* time on the clock than this.

No. I don't really give a shit personally. I think the idea of damn near questioning this muhfuckas manhood because he got emotional with fucking 2 seconds left in the game is for lack of a better word....gay. but whatever you need to prove to yourself you're a man.

I mean shit, you can list all the buzzer beaters in the world. I guarantee you there are 5 times as many shots that didn't go in. That's not even taking into consideration the fact that it's the fucking NCAA tournament. Dudes act like if a muhfucka don't act walk and talk like Chuck D in every scenario, they need to be shitted on.

Whatever. If this is your crusade to make everybody gully, so be it. The fact that dudes made stipulations for the Kobe/Fisher analogy proved this is some bullshit. I'm out.

kobe cried in a blowout. even though there may have been time on the clock, the game was over for all intents and purposes.

morrison's team had a chance to win the game with a 3 point shot.

had the ball gone to morrison, their best player would not have had the composure to give it his best shot.

gonzaga got a shot off anyway. if the shot had gone in, it wouldve gone to overtime.

so why was morrison crying when his team still had a legitimate chance to win?

So you're saying you're making the rules on when a game is over and when it's not? ok.

>morrison's team had a chance to win the game with a 3 point
>shot.

again, you're going to determine when a game is "over" based on...what again?

I don't know. Just like you don't know what could have happened with time left on the clock against the spurs. We're talking about chance. The odds of hitting a clean jumper from a cross court inbound pass isn't much more or less than coming back from a big deficit with time left. But regardless, we just went from making this hard fast rule of "no crying during the game" to "oh but the game was a blowout". On top of all that, NONE of us have played any sport on the level of these atheletes and been in that situation to even pass judgement one way or the other. But hey, whatever floats ya boat, pimp.

The odd thing about this is that you like Kobe, who's won games with as much time or less on the clock.
If he cried in ANY of those situations, you'd probably think differently of him (and he had MORE of a right to break down with the rape trial but didn't)

Face it...it's a bitchmove to cry about a game you still can win

no one said anything about his pro potential based on this, they just said it was a bitch move.

and we're not nitpicking that he cried with 1.9 left instead of waiting till the buzzer sounded. plenty of players have shed tears before the buzzer - when the game was clearly out of reach.

we are saying that HIS TEAM STILL HAD A CHANCE TO WIN THE GAME WITH A SHOT, AND HE WAS UNABLE TO FUNCTION AT 100% FOR THE MOST CRUCIAL PLAY OF THE GAME BECAUSE HE WAS FUCKING CRYING.

We were down 19 with like 6 minutes left and PHIL TOOK THEM OUT OF THE GAME = conceding defeat, that shit is over. Morrison still had time left in the game, and we have seen some CRAZY shit in the NCAA's, you cant compare those two without looking at the situations, cmon now.

down 1 w/2.6 left and still a one posession game after they shoot freethrows and you cry?

that tells me he thought it was over and quit. and why was he at UCLA's baket during the last play? He didn't want the ball. he had been going crazy, talking a lot of trash all game/all tournament/all season and as soon as he faces adversity he has a nervous breakdown? that's bitch-made.

at least Redick waited until his team had no chance and the coach pulled him.

I watched the highlight for the first time. That steal was absolutely incredible... Diving for a dribbling ball and making no contact at all, with the game on the line.

Yea. Best ever.

while he loses on degree of difficulty, UCLA's steal was in a 3rd round game.

thats the same difference as between every Web Gem and willie mays' catch in the 54 series.

And people need to save the "oh, it's the college game, .... pure emotion, .... blazhay blazhay"

You telling me Morrison and Redick care more than everyone else in the tourney? Please. Maybe they are embarrassed that they both sh*t the bed in the (potentially for Morrison) last game of their college career. I don't know.

Save the crying for little league though. Sometimes you lose. It stings. Deal.

and we are talking the leader of that squad, basically giving that game up even though there are 2 second of the game left. Now I am not macho at all, and will admit to often tearing up over shit, hell I even admit it on this board, but with a game still in hand, esp considering it is March Madness, and what we have seen before.....I just cant.

I just had a pretty lengthy argument about this with my cousin, brother, and friend last night too lol.
