to also type 1 sentence on why you made the pick so for example sake: cantball doesnt just draft Chris taft #1 because he likes him and wants him to go to Mil.

3. "Milwaukee Bucks-Andrew Bogut"
In response to Reply # 0

Put it like this...in the last 10 years, the best big man the Bucks have had is Tyrone Hill.We start here, because this has been a need since I was in elementary school.

Bogut will bring exactly what the Bucks need-Size,passing,toughness and above all-an inside scoring presence.

With the return of T.J. Ford, the continued emergence of Michael Redd, the solid Desmond Mason, and Joe Smith and Dan Gadzuric at the 4,the Bucks will have enough firepower to get into the playoffs. Most of the games they lost last year were by 6 points or fewer. With Bogut, expect that to change. The kid is the real deal.I didn't even consider Marvin Williams because of another all world Small Forward coming from his Freshman year-Tim Thomas.

With Andrew Bogut,my Bucks will have a competitive team for a long time to come.

This guy is a bonafied big man, he can score around the basket with both hands, he has a great touch, and he has tremendous upside. Now, what you have to wonder about is how he will adapt to the banging and contact that take place in the NBA game as opposed to the CIAA or wherever this guy played.

He should remind people of Milwaukee of great centers such as Paul Mokeski and Brad Lohaus.

...This post has tremendous upside

I was expecting to draft Bogut with the #2 pick because I thought the Bucks were going to draft the best player in the draft, Marvin Williams.

I was so tempted to draft Marvin Williams because of his versatile on the court...he can play a 3 or 4 and play it well. He is mature, has a good jumpshot, and the potential to be an All-Star caliber player.

However, last year, we drafted 2 forwards with Josh Childress (whom has ALOT of potential, just cut the 'fro) and Josh Smith and we are in dire need of a point guard and a center.

As for Chris Paul, some sources claim that he is the best point guarg prospect since Jason Kidd. He is mature, has great court vision, potential to be a leader on and off the court and he is an intelligent basketball player. I think with Paul, Childress, and Smith, we have a strong core for the potential for a solid team. If we get a key free agent that has skills as a basketball player and a leader, I can see the Atlanta Hawks as this year's Chicago Bulls in 2 years.

Now, let's hope Marvin Williams slips to the Lakers.

Bogut = Vlade

Marvin Williams has MUCH more potential the Bogut.

He has the most "upside" in the draft. Great jumpshot. Unselfish player. Quick. Great basketball IQ. Can play point-forward like Scottie. Great rebounder. You will get 140% from Williams every night.

At 18, he is 6-9 and 230 with a National Championship. He is a raw talent that can be developed into a BEAST.

Bucks need a PF moreso than a Center...their 3-head center with Gadzuric, Pachulia, and Booth worked good enough. As for PF, they had Joe Smith...with TJ ford, Michael Redd, and then Williams...that would make them with alot of potential.

Personally, I just think Bogut gets the hype cuz he is tall and white. He was good cuz he played in a weak conference. And he uses the same move over and over and over again.

I believe that any team landed with Bogut will be disappointed in the long run.

It's no sure thing that either will be back. Since both were second round picks, I'm not sure if Milwaukee has their bird rights. Also, it has been rumored that adding someone who can have an impact immediately (ala Bogut) will help them resign Redd.

The Bucks can add a PF in free agency. For some reason, I see Antoine Walker ending up here. I don't know why.

Marvin Williams could just as easily be Corey Maggette and personally I'd take a young Vlade over that any day. If Vlade was playing in his prime today he'd be the number two center in the L, a sad state of affairs for the center spot but true anyway.

Bogut being tall has a lot to do with why he is going above Williams but otherwise that is bullshit; he is much more PROVEN than Williams. Two years of college experience and the world juniors under his belt in addition to a good deal of polish on a game/frame that still have a LOT of growing to do since he is only 20 and improved vastly between his frosh and soph years.

Also, the flawed scouting statement is because 1) almost any GM in the league would take Bogut and, more importantly, 2) because from all the hubub of late on these boards it was clear that CantBall was set on selecting him

And you will know MY JACKET IS GOLD when I lay my vengeance upon thee.

Let's get over any bullshit about them having any solid pieces in place, they are starting from near absolute scratch. they need a star and the way to get that is by taking the best player available when you select. here you are even getting SIZE and though Paul is the best or second best PG prospect this draft actually has some depth at that spot. Also, if you take Paul, play him big minutes and dont surround him with better personnel, you are setting up any rookie point guard for failure.

And you will know MY JACKET IS GOLD when I lay my vengeance upon thee.

You're the Atlanta Hawks, you've got some tremendously athletic swingmen and you need to fill some seats. So, you go out and draft an ACC player who can distribute the ball and possibly, draw a crowd to Phillips Arena.

This is a guy you can count on for 15 points, 7 assists and a few steals every night. Now, can he control his emotions and take the constant pounding that an NBA point guard takes is the question and can he run a team and get everyone else involved in the offense. This guy has all kinds of upside, we'll see if Atlanta can put some more pieces around him though.

...this post has tremedous upside!

Okay, here is a guy, Marvin Williams, who played 22 minutes a game for the National Champions and scored 11 points a game, grabbed nearly 7 rebounds a game, shot over 50% inside the line and a respectable 43% behind the college line. On top of that, he gave you a block and a steal every time out. This guy can do it all. He has got unlimitless upside.

Now, the question is what position will he play and how physical can he be with his slim body. But, we know that he has limitless talent and tons of upside!

I badly wanted to take Charlie Villanueva here to upgrade the NBA's worst offense of 2004. But Jamaal Magloire is a star on the rise, and PJ Brown is a double-double machine, so it would be unresponsible with the first round pick to do anything but upgrade a backcourt that lost the arguably most talented point guard in the league in Baron Davis. Deron Williams is a skilled, smart point guard who is truly the "extension of the head coach" that is such a necessity in organized basketball. Also he is sizeable and strong at 6'3" 210, making him the collegiate point guard easily the most mentally and physically suited to bang in the Western Conference. As much as I wanted a literally and figuratively huge offensive upgrade like Villanueva, I think I will be able to find a suitable offensive contributor with the 33rd overall pick, so I'm taking the top point guard at #4.

Deron Williams has an NBA body and a NBA game right now. He may be the guy that can come in and play faster than just about anyone in the draft. He is an unselfish player. Now, at Illinois, he gave you 12.5 points and nearly 7 assists per game. He did average nearly 3 turnovers per game, but he was always looking for his teamates and you have to like that.

He is a great defender who can gaurd the 1 or 2 position and he showed that he was not afraid to take the big shot. This guy is a little bulky, but has very quick feet and hands with a great handle.

With this guy running the point, J.R. Smith coming into his own and and other young studs like Jamaal Magloire, Lee Nailon and Dan Dickau, this could be a team much like the Chicago Bulls that will show tremendous improvement next year.

With the Current depth Chart, its obvious to most that the Bobcats desperately need a big time scorer, athleticism, and size. Gerald Greeen provides all three. At 6'8" Green is big enough to play the 2 and the 3 positions. Although Green is young and will need time to develop this is the ideal situation to do so. Under the leadership of Bernie Bickerstaff and Emeka Okafor. Green, if he lives up to the hype can give the Bobcats something to smile about alongside Okafor, an ever improving Brezec, and the #13 pick later in the draft.

Projected Starting five:
Brevin Knight
Keith Bogans
Gerald Green
Emeka Okafor
Primoz Brezec
----------------------------
Key Role Players:
Gerald Wallace
Jason Hart
Melvin Ely
Bernard Robinson
#13 Pick in the Draft
Kareem Rush

i dont see him starting at the start of the season, but he will end up a starter.

watch out tho...i heard he grew up with a silver spoon in his mouth and he only works "when he wants to."

Okafor can be the leader. Green just needs to work on his understanding of the game. And, honestly, there aren't many star high school players who don't have the knock "Doesn't work hard in every game". I mean, it's got to be hard to be intense all the time when you are playing every week against guys you know you can destroy.

Honestly, high school games aren't even the proving ground anymore. AAU is.

This is a great pick for Charlotte, Green can flat out score. If you are Bernie Bickerstaff and you have a nucleus of Emeka Okafor, Primoz Brezec, Gerald Wallace and Green, you have an athletic and solid nucleus to build around, PLUS, you have a product that the people of Charlotte are excited to see.

With Green, you get a guy with great NBA size at 6'8" who can get his own shot off. You have to love what the Bobcats are doing and how they are building this team. Now, they need to get a solid veteran point guard to go along with Brevin Knight and some more bodies to go along the front line and they will compete next year.

This Charlotte franchise has a large amount of upside.

60. "#6 Utah Jazz - Raymond Felton PG UNC"
In response to Reply # 0

I thought at first this would be a tough choice, but then I looked over Utah's roster again and realized their best point guards are Keith McLeod and Raul Lopez. Needless to say, that probably won't do it for the Jazz, who actually do have some pieces but need a quality ball distributor. Enter Felton, who is IMO the 2nd best pg in the draft and could end up being better than Paul in 5 years. He's an excellent athlete, a great ball distributor, and helmed the point for the national champions. Not such a tough choice anymore.

So now Utah looks like:

C - Okur/Collins/Borchardt
PF - Boozer/Humphries
SF - Ivan Drago/Thomas
SG - Harpring/Snyder/Bell/Giricek
PG - Felton/Lopez/McLeod

^^^ Potential surprise playoff team ^^^

Felton will end up being the best pg out of this draft when it's all said and done. He's strong, explosive, and can play defensive. Dunleavy Sr. said he's as fast tony parker and AI. You do the math. Cat's are on deron's nuts. He's going to be a solid pro player. But Felton has the upside to be great. Watch.

However, he's a low lottery pick. He is simply not top 5 material, and I don't see how his stock ever got higher than Felton's.

In response to Reply # 60

6 Picks, 3 point guards taken.

This is a need pick for Utah who is set at just about every other position except maybe the 2. If you are the Utah Jazz and last year, you had to watch Lopez and McCleod every night, you are welcoming this pick. Now, we know that Felton can break his man down off the dribble and penetrate, but will he be able to knock down the open shots that he will assuredly get as guys play off of him.

Felton is super quick but he will have to cut down a very high 3.6 turnovers per game last year. Control is the key word for this guy, but we know that Coach Sloan will have him on a very tight leash. You now have a core of guys including AK-47, Boozer, Okur and Harpering along with Felton. This is a great group and they are still relatively young. Utah should challenge for a playoff spot next year if Felton can develop and run an NBA team this season as expected and will definitely contend in 2 years if they keep this team together.

...this post has tremedous upside!

With none of the top 6 falling through the cracks.

The raps need alot of everything, so history states go for the best available player. To make up for the errors of last year, first on the list was a serviceable big man, with the ability to take the low post pressure off Bosh and be able to clear the boards on the weak side, something the raptors haven't had since Antonio Davis.
In the East, at 6' 11 240 Villanueva is talented enough to play positions 3 - 5 and gives the raps a young athletic frontline for the future.

Possible Staring 5

pg - rafer
sg - peterson
sf - rose
pf - villanueva
c - bosh

Plus, i dont think he would be a good fit for us. Him and Bosh have alot of similarities and basically play the same style of game at the same position. If he were to drop to 16, i'd grab him, but at #7, he is a reach.

i was workin on the possibly of felton or green dropping to 7.
but he didn't...

so in regards to big men

charlie >>> taft/frye

plus i think charlie can play the 5.
his game is similar to bosh's, but i think charlie can run the floor better and play weak side. in the east, charlie can get away playing the 5 most games.

save for unproven europeans he's the most versatile big man available.

i dont envy babcock and crew come draft day...
looking at salaries and what not.
we put ourselves in a really fucked up position.

versatility is the name of the game.. now they have 3 quality bigs in bosh, araujo (TBD), and charlie... and can move some of the vets and rebuild. ie Donyell Marshall, Jalen Rose

Araujo was a terrible pick and does not look like quality. Charlie hasn't shown he can play in the L. Until Villenueva shows something, Donyell Marshall is the second best big man on the Raptors.

This might happen on draft day, and if it does we must grab one of the two.

>so in regards to big men
>
>charlie >>> taft/frye

This is true. But if Charlie is our choice i think that we should trade down and get whatever more we can. I actually wouldnt mind Charlie on our team but at the number 7 pick, its just a reach. I might go with Granger or Wright and try and get a big man with the 16th pick.

>plus i think charlie can play the 5.
>his game is similar to bosh's, but i think charlie can run the

Maybe, but that could be reaching. With Charlie and Bosh on the frontline, that might be the softest frontcourt in the league, sure they would be very talented but we would get bodied and rebounding would still be one of our major concerns.

>save for unproven europeans he's the most versatile big man
>available.

I dont like going towards Europeans either, but im more open to it now then i was before. If Splitter stays in the draft, we must give him a serious look. Hes the type of player that were more looking for in a 4/5 then in Charlie.

>i dont envy babcock and crew come draft day...
>looking at salaries and what not.
>we put ourselves in a really fucked up position.

All we had to do was draft Igoudala last year and with this years draft we would be a very good young team in the future.

Im not feeling Babcock either at all too. All we have to go by is last year, and he certainly didnt gain any fans up here in Toronto. I still support him throughout every shady move, and i am willing to be patient. BUT, he must come through in this draft someway or somehow. Weve got 2 first rounders and 2 second rounders so hopefully were in a position to acquire good to above average talent whether it be by drafting or by trading.

Taking someone that might force you to move your franchise player out of position (Bosh is best suited for the 4) is questionable IMO. Charlie's got the talent but not the right attitude.

Still the Celtics applaud the pick because it just helps the odds of someone slipping all the way to 18.

people sleep on Charlie but he as much potential as Marvin Williams and is 2 more inches taller.... I predict that in the REAL draft he will go higher than expected. The lottery is more about upside and although Charlie played somewhat subpar earlier on he was a double double machine mid to late in the season.

In response to Reply # 79

If you are the Toronto Raptors and you have a glaring need for a 2 and also you need some stability, I not sure why they took Villanueva. Maybe they took him for someone else in a trade possibility. This guy is a tremendous athlete but grossly underachived at the college level. If Toronto is keeping this pick, they are betting on him being able to produce consistently which he never did at UConn.

Now, having said that, with this guy you get a versatile 6'11" guy who has range on his jumper, can block shots and is fearless around the basket. You just have to hope that the switch gets turned on with this guy and that is stays on. Coming out of high school this guy had all kinds of upside and was compared to Amare Stoudamire, we'll see if he can produce on the NBA level like Amare.

...this post has tremedous upside!

In response to Reply # 79

I think Bosh is a four in the long run, they will draft a guard IMO, Felton if he is there past Utah. I think Utah needs a PG BADLY but I am unsure if it will be Williams or Felton because Atlanta and NO are two teams that REALLY need everything so it's tough to tell who they will select (and consequently who will be available, though I think Paul will DEFINITELY be off of the board by 7 and likely Williams as well)

And you will know MY JACKET IS GOLD when I lay my vengeance upon thee.

Isiah's on the phone trying to see if he can deal the pick for Duncan or Garnett.

I really think there's something in the water in NYC. I mean, Layden was the king of dumb offers, and now Isiah is offering Penny for Gasol?

In response to Reply # 0

I dont like this pick not one bit. If I had my druthers, Id blow this team up. This team is going nowhere with Marbury at the helm. This draft is loaded with talent, and I think were forced to miss out on the fun. But shit, Im just handling the draft, so Im operating under the assumption that weve got to make the best with what weve got. And that sucks.

That said, grabbing a big man was the only option. Were loaded (in salary and men not talent) at guard and forward, so grabbing a true PF/C was the only option. That meant passing on glorified small forwards who I think have bright futures ahead of them but are too soft: like Fran Vasquez, and Martynas Andriuskevicius.

In the end, we were left with two legitimate options: Chris Taft, and Channing Frye.

I was tempted to take Frye, whos not as soft as hes made out to be. But Taft has two things going for him that Frye doesnt: rebounding, and big-game success (statistically, at least). Oh, and another thing I hate: potential. So the Knicks pick another unacheiving heartless bastard, Chris Taft, by the process of elimination.

Seriously, look at the Knicks roster. The Knicks need an inside presence. Channing Frye is not going to cut in. They can either trade down (though they have hardly anything worth trading), or they can draft Taft.

Need we be reminded that is was mere months ago that he was projected to be the #1 overall pick?

Taft is lazy during a 40 game seaso,n how is he going to do over 82? I'd love Taft with the 29th pick but not at 8. Frye's stock is rising, and he appears to be ok handling the media. I don't care if Frye needs to add some more muscle. I'd rather have an improvinmg talented tweener at center, than a bum ass player like Taft.

To be honest, I called it a month or so ago that Bynum would be this year's Robert Swift, but I don't think he'll end up in Golden St. I think they'll probably go after either someone who can play both the 4 and 5 or a SF (since Mullin isn't high on Dunleavy and Pietrus IMO is a better backup).

At this point, this probably looks like a big reach by some. But this cat averaged 20 and 10 getting doubled. He's been giving dudes the business during workouts (I see you Chris Taft and Wayne Simien) and put up better numbers head to head against channing frye in college.

His only knock is his size. He's 6'8 barefoot with a 7'4" wingspan. He averaged 2 blocks a game. I'm not mad.

Now, before you front on this pick, ask yourself the following question:

If Elton Brand was in this draft, would you take him at 10? If you say hell yes, then you shouldn't have anything negative to say about this pick.

We need post presence and a point guard. I wanted felton but I knew there was no way he'd fall this far.

I like Jarrett Jack. But not at 10 and definitely not before Ike.

Fran Vasquez is aiight. Nice finisher with a nice midrange. His rebounding is a little inconsistent and I'm not sold on his defense.

tiago splitter defensively is a beast. But he apparantly has lost whatever offensive game he once had. Not at 10. he's still somewhat of a project.

Johan Petro is euro clay. The lakers don't have the time for that shit.

Fuck Sean May
Fuck Channing Frye (Who I think Phil actually wants *vomits*)
and fuck another small forward right about now.

I'm done.

what if he goes back to school.

Arizona State star undecided between school, NBA
By MEL REISNER, AP Sports Writer
June 7, 2005

TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) -- Torn between education and the big money of the NBA, Ike Diogu plans to use every possible minute before choosing.

The Arizona State star, last season's Pac-10 player of the year, said Tuesday he wouldn't announce his decision until June 21. That is the deadline for college players who have declared for the June 28 draft to withdraw if they haven't hired an agent.

``I'm just gathering up all the information that I can,'' Diogu said at a news conference. ``Coach (Rob) Evans is doing his part, and he tells me what he hears, and we'll just go from there.''

Evans said Diogu, a heavily recruited prep player in his native Texas, was following the same thoughtful process that he used in selecting the Sun Devils.

``I'm going to give him information,'' Evans said. ``He'll decipher the information, and he'll tell me and you guys what he's going to do at the proper time. I think the big thing is he's got a process -- as he's always had -- of making decisions, and he'll follow through on that process.

``He doesn't make snap decisions. Never has.''

Diogu said his feelings are split evenly between beginning his professional career and staying for his senior year at a school, and with teammates, he likes.

The deciding factor could be knowing for sure that he'd go high in the first round. But Diogu said he has heard his name is all over various draft boards.

A 6-foot-8 forward with an 88-inch arm spread, Diogu has worked out for Denver, Houston, Seattle and Golden State. He will attend one of the last NBA draft camps starting Friday in Chicago and interview with teams, but not work out. After that, he plans separate auditions with New Jersey, Indianapolis, Phoenix and Toronto.

``I'm not really concerned with the team. I guess it would have to be (draft) placement,'' he said.

Edward Diogu, the athlete's father, told a Phoenix-area newspaper on Monday that his son had made up his mind to play in the NBA this year.

Diogu said he spoke with his father later Monday night and cleared up the misunderstanding.

``We got everything out in the open, and we're on the same page,'' he said.

Diogu's parents are educators, and throughout the news conference he showed signs of his reluctance to leave college without a degree. He also said he would like to help improve the Sun Devils, whose 18-13 record only got them an NIT bid.

``I definitely feel that we're going to be a tournament team next year,'' he said.

Diogu, who announced on March 28 that he was making himself available to the draft, led the Pac-10 in scoring (22.6) and rebounding (9.8) last season, earning second-team All-America honors.

He had 15 double-doubles and six 30-point games last season and has scored in double figures in all 91 of his college games. He set the Pac-10 record for free throws made in 2003-04 with 243 and then elevated the record with 248 last season.

his workouts have been too good. Not only is his dad saying it, but he has a workout scheduled the day after the deadline. He's just trying to put that out there.

But what's fucked up is, the lakers probably will take Channing Frye's punk ass.

He's apparently the most NBA-ready prospect, and throwing him in at the 4 in order to bump LO down to the 3 would give you guys the ability to create frontcourt matchup problems all day.

But I can't front, Ike's a beast and I really like the guy. I was hoping that by some act of God he'd slip to 27, but... oh well.

He can move Odom to the 3, and if the Lakers bring in Chandler (I really think the Bulls will have to agree to a S&T because IMO he's going to sign a one year deal with Chi-town and head back home as an UFA next season), they'll have a nice foursome of Kobe, Odom, Ike, and T.Y. Draft a PG next year or bring one in (sign Earl Watson with the MLE?) and they are ok.

I was reading on his performance in the Euro championships and he's been ok. But nothing outstanding. He's basically a very good offensively player who can finish and run the floor. I haven't heard much about his post game. Nothing as a matter of fact. Everything is face up. Which is cool. But Ike has post game, face up game, can play defense, AND can get to the line with like 90% ft avg.

So for me it's like Elton Brand/Boozer vs. Fran Vasquez.

Diagu is one guy I've seen play an awful lot over the last couple of years him being in the Pac 10....Dude can really be a beast at times....Going to the Lakes would be great for him because he'd have an opportunity to come in and contribute right away with boards and D, and interior play...

His wingspan makes up for his lack of sheer height, duke has nice touch on the interior, will trouble cats with his arms....would move LO down to the 3. I am now looking at 2 cats for the next pick, you prob already know who they are.

(sorry was at a funeral all day)

With Francis at the point the Magic are going nowhere. Howard is a blooming stud at the 4. Nelson should also be able to take over the PG duties.

Next season Christie, Turkoglu and Cato come off the books so there will be relief, but the most immediate needs are for a center, a shooter and a ton of defense.

There's a lot of way this pick could go especially with the way the top 10 teams went here but Wright gives them a ton of athleticism, a solid defensive option and size.

Grant Hill's not going to play forever and Wright could also compliment Nelson very well in the backcourt

--not sure the Howard-Frye frontcourt would be the most effective style. Thought about Andriuskevicius who would give a nice inside-out game and Vazquez who could grind it out with Howard in the paint.

In the end, Came down to Vazquez, Granger, Wright and Webster.

While Granger is on the rise through all his workoouts and Webster has the HS glitz, I think Wright is the most solid prospect immediately.

(Ideally, I'd like to see the Magic trade Francis and retool around Howard. Getting a shooting guard like Wright could rationalize such a move)

The clips have no glaring holes as is, and it was between Webster and Granger for me. Considering that Simmons hasnt been locked up and potentially may get a fat contract, I had to go with a SF who could possible replace him. Danny improved his 3 pt stroke to nearly 44% last year, very athletic, can play defense VERY well and can possible gaurd anyone from a 1 to a 4, nice rebounder as well. He could fill in for Bobby if they dont resign, but if not, provides depth at the sf and sg spots while also providing a potential (theres that word!) sweet 3 point shooter. I know cats have said it before but if duke wasnt going to New Mexico, he could have been much higher imo.

the clips arent really looking for a starter in this draft, unless they can get one of the big name free agents this offseason, the starting lineup is pretty much set, this draft is going to be used to build a deeper bench...i hope they dont do anything crazy in this draft, like get rid of Maggette, i just have this feeling that they're gonna shop Maggette and pay Simmons so they can save some money, i hope not, if thats the case, i'd rather see Bobby walk.

ESPN has him going 7th right now and his stock is still rising. Check out Chad Ford's blog re: a Granger and Warrick workout:

It was the most anticipated workout of the week in Chicago and it lived up to the billing...

From ESPN:
"After watching Martynas Andriuskevicius workout, I hopped in a cab and made my way over to the best workout of the week, a head-to-head matchup between New Mexico's Danny Granger and Syracuse's Hakim Warrick run by the Charlotte Bobcats.
Both Granger and Warrick looked fantastic in one of the hardest-fought workouts I've seen in a while.
Granger shot the lights out in the skill drills showing great NBA 3-point range. He also showed that he had the athleticism and ball-handling skills to be a great NBA three.
Warrick also showed off that impressive mid-range jumper with great accuracy out to 18 feet. He also showed again that he's one of the quickest and most athletic big guys in the draft. Warrick struggled in the ball-handling drills, but that's not a huge surprise. It's one area of the game he still is working on.
The real fun began when the two played one on one. Granger had clearly read the scouting report on Warrick and laid off him defensively giving him the open jumper. Warrick rose up and hit his first four jumpers forcing Granger to reevaluate his strategy. Once Granger crowded Warrick, he struggled a little. Warrick can cover a lot of ground with his first step, but his ball-handling limitations kept him from getting to the rim. Granger was so quick and physical that Warrick rarely got by him. Instead he was forced to launch fade-away jumpers. Several of them went in, but it was a little disappointing that he couldn't get inside more where his length and jumping ability would've given him a better advantage over Granger.
Granger was great offensively. He did a great job of getting separation and then elevating on his jumper. Warrick had a real quandary in guarding Granger. When he got too close, Granger put it on the floor and drove hard to the basket. When he took a step back, Granger rained down jumpers with great accuracy. Warrick did a good job defensively using his length to bother Granger around the basket, but it was clear he was uncomfortable guarding man to man (Syracuse used zones exclusively).
Things got much more physical in the two-on-two games. Warrick dropped Granger to the floor twice. Granger knocked Warrick over several times going for the steal. At the end of the workout, Warrick tried to jump over Granger for a spectacular jam and ended up flattened on his back.
Overall, both guys really helped themselves in the workout.
Warrick showed his emerging perimeter game, heart and excellent conditioning (contrary to reports in the New York media).
Granger showed the total package. Athleticism, a great shot and superior, physical defense. The only knock on Granger before the workout was that he isn't always aggressive enough. He totally dispelled those fears on Thursday.
We've had Granger ranked in the top 10 for five months. Don't be surprised if he gets serious consideration by Charlotte at No. 5 if Chris Paul and Deron Williams are off the board."

I am not super high on him but if he is available at 12 the Clips should gun for him and what you said is also true. I would not be surprised to see them just take the best player available, they dont really NEED anything but they could use another player in the rotation ASAP so just gun for the best talent available; honestly a player at any of the five positions would deepen them because they have a pretty solid starting five but not a whole lot behind it.

And you will know MY JACKET IS GOLD when I lay my vengeance upon thee.

I know, I know this is too high for gomes but this guy was a projected lottery selection last year but decided to stay an extra year and is getting overlooked imo. The kid has flat out balled ever since he put on a friars jersey. I was torn between Antoine Wright, Danny Granger, Joey Graham, Hakim Warrick and Ryan Gomes. Wright and Granger are off the boards now and I just felt that Gomes had quicker foot speed and a better overall touch from the outside than Joey Graham and Hakim Warrick. It was a very tough decision going with Gomes over Warrick I will tell you that though....I think Gomes has the ability to be a Caron Butler/Carmello Anthony Blend....

Gomes stats in the Big EaST Conference over the last for years where he has played the likes of Carmello Anthony, Emeka Okafor, Hakim Warrick, Taft, and etc... are very telling that the kid is a player.

http://sports.espn.go.com/ncb/player/profile?playerId=5087

Bobcats could eventually have a starting five of

Brevin Knight/Jason Hart/ or FA
Gerald Green
Ryan Gomes
Emeka Okafor
Primoz Brezec

i dont know who they have on their draft board but they should be able to trade down and still get the guy unless he's one of the euro's

one thing that strikes me about gomes is that if you can play in big games in college you can play!!! Josh howard, gordon and I think Chris paul are gamers... they just know how to play... there is no mystery... They might not be stars but they arent bums... they can help out...

This was a VERY difficult decision between Martell Webster, Joey Graham, and Vasquez. We're a mystery right now. Spree or Wally or both may likely be gone, Cassell or Hudson or both could be gone, and we don't have a coach yet.

I thought about filling the swingman role with either Graham or Webster. Both had plusses and minuses, and I thought if I was lucky Webster might fall to me. And now that he did, I feel bad passing on someone who could potentially be a great NBA swingman.

I never thought of drafting a big man, because I thought Channing Frye would be the best available. But Vasquez looks too good to pass up. An NBA ready (this is key), athletic 6'9" forward (who I imagine would enter the season at 230-235 range), good defender/shot blocker. From what they are saying, his offense could use some work, but this guy could potentially be another AK-47. Even if Spree and Wally both leave, we would still have a need down low. Our non-KG big men (some of whom might not be around next year) are Ervin Johnson (who's old), Mark Madsen (who's Mark Madsen), Eddie Griffin (wildly inconsistent), Ndubi Ebi (who's played 2 games in 2 seasons), and the Kandi man (you're kidding, right?).

In the end, he was too good to pass up.

>he lacks the foot speed and the shot... not saying he cant
>develop it but right of college those are two things he needs
>to work on... Joey Graham is going to be GOOD nba player
>imo....
>
>and he will fall to a good team and be like their instant 6th
>man... the kid webster I havent seen play so I cant comment on
>but Graham is a beast !!!

I like Graham, too, he sounds like Trenton Hassell with a jump shot. I was going to go with Webster because he could replace the missing offense better than Graham (never saw him play, either, going on scout reports). But it was a real tough decision between those two. Graham was my pick a few days ago, only because I didn't think Webster and Vasquez would be available.

>oh Fran Vasquez and KG might have similar games... when is Ebi
>going to play lol

Ndubi Ebi
Will Avery
Wally

Those are our last 3 first round picks! If he goes at this rate he will have played a full 48 minutes . . . in an entire season.

If you look at Vasquez, I don't think he even scored 20 points in any game for his Euro team. If he could average 10-15, that would be fine, but what I really liked is his defenive game.

169. "#15- New Jersey Hakim Warrick, PF Syracuse"
In response to Reply # 0

Well, let's see, the Nets have Kidd at the 1 with Planinic backing him up, Vince Carter/Travis Best at the 2, RJ/Vince at the 3, and Nenad Kristic emerged at the center spot. Kidd obviously misses having an athletic 4 in the lineup, and Hakim can run. I was torn between Warrick, May and Simien, and both of the others have more prototypical power forward bodies, but Warrick's raw athleticism is worth more to me. Watching him at the Dome this year, I noticed his explosiveness on the baseline and ability to pull up when necessary. He's not as consistent of a shot blocker as his highlights may suggest, but he does play solid help defense, which is going to help out Kristic and Jefferson in the frontcourt. And again, if Kidd wants to run, Hak can run.

Did I say really want?

They feel that Warrick can replace Kenyon Martin with his athleticism and wingspan and is a perfect fit for the Jason Kidd led offense...

A freakish starting 5 with
Kidd
Carter
Jefferson
Warrick/Collins
Kristic

Come on. Warrick is nowhere near K-Mart or Jamison. He has no outside shot, no real post moves. He will benefit playing with Kidd but let's not pretend that he's anthing more than a role player. He was one of the guys I was hoping would go early so someone could fall to the Celtics. I was hoping for Webster but it looks like he just went.

in the halfcourt sets he worked incredibly well with his back to the basket. He's got the leaping ability to be an incredible rebounder, and could become one of the best above the rim players in the L. With that team especially, he's going to be the best 4th option in the NBA.

EDIT: And yes, I know he's skinny for a PF, but he's been working on bulking up. If he adds mass and maintains quickness, he'll be unstoppable.

21.4 PPG
8.6 RPG
1.5 APG
.548 FG%
about a steal and block per game.

Not bad at all for a 6'8" PF who's "too skinny"

Compare to
Simien: 20 PPG and 11 RPG, .552 shooting
Frye: 15.8 PPG and 7.6 RPG, .554 shooting
May: 17.5 PPG and 10.7 RPG, .576 shooting

hes gonna be a good player in the NBA.

hes put on good weight since his freshman year...and hes a 4 yr player, who learned how to lead his team this year.

He had a couple of 30 point games going down the stretch that were Huge.

His jumpshot isnt good yet.

BUT

if anyone watched cuse games instead of reading old Nbadraft.net previews that still say hes the next darius miles,

theyd see that the shot has developed quite nicely and he can knock down the 15-20 footer, especially if u leave him.

Im not saying his shot is as good as Vince's, but the way it developed this past season reminds me of how Vince's J really started to pick up his last season at UNC. Not identical, but reminds me...

Plus his athleticism is gonna put asses in the seats in NJ and especially BK..or wherever he ends up going
That is all

Say Warrick goes to Jersey. He has to be - at most (and not likely, considering Kristic develops further) - the 4th option, and fill the lane on the fast break while providing a bit of shotblocking and rebounding. He could contribute there.

Those impressive numbers were the senior stats of fellow Syracuse 'tweener John Wallace.

Warrick doesn't have Wallace's crap attitude, which is why I think he has a shot at becoming a role player in the league. Expecting more than that is a mistake IMO

but I dont know about either as pros, I was high on Warrick for a minute but he hasnt added bulk or any perimeter skills, he will take a while to find his fit if he does. Turiaf needs to put it together in terms of consistency, I almost feel like he could use another year in school or one in Europe but he will go first round so no sense fucking with that, he will have to learn on the fly.

After the versatile big man, a shooting guard was neccesary.

It was either Webster, Granager Graham in this spot.
Grnager is gone. While i love (no homo) what i've seen of Graham, he isn't a true 2, more a 3 u can slide down to 2 on occasion.
Webster looks like a pure scorer, he's long and muscular 6-10 wingspan, 8-4 reach, he can be a Tayshaun - like player with a better 3.
A couple practices with Mitchell and his D will improve.

Come draft day Webster probably won't fall this low.

I played against/with him a couple times the past few years. He's sick. I just wish he would've stuck around & helped out the Huskies 4 a year or 2 but cant blame a brotha 4 gettin that dough. Word around here in Seattle is that Orlando is takin him if he's still on the board when they pick @ 11.

I can't remember who it was, but a pretty big name in scouting/high school hoops said that he was a better pick than Gerald Green. He basically has NBA level shooting skills so he can at least contribute from day one as an outside threat.

It looks like Webster's going to be a top 10 pick in real life. I think he's the sleeper in this draft. I would picked him at 6 and used this pick to grab a big man who can rebound.

I don't think you should be using a #6 to pick up a role player, especially one that would move Bosh to centre (it'd be destructive putting him there, he's not a banger, he's too thin to go up against big guys every night, it'll just wear him out).

so here's the deal. . .

We'll do the second round. We just need like 3 more reps. I was projecting only doing one based on how the OKP NFL draft ran, and how we've only gotten 10 picks into the second round there. So sure, let's go for it; the demand seems high enough, and the draft's progressing pretty well.

It was a value pick more than anything. No one is projecting him to fall out of the lottery, but also a *need* pick. He's SEVEN FEET. He also runs the floor well and seems fundamentally sound.

We need help in the front court and depth. Dales play was miraculous but I doubt well have a repeat. JO is soft, we all know that now, so less minutes for him will be good. David Harrison is a big ? still.

I fear he might be a Loren Wood, but while they have the same frame Channing seems like a superior talent. We ( Me & Larry Bird aka Knife) also were thinking Euro at this point, but its so hard to draft sight unseen. So at the end I had to clutch my WWDWD necklace and pray for guidance....... Donnie came through

but watching both Woods and Frye, I think Frye plays much more physical than Woods. i think he has a tougher mentality than Woods has, at least comparing their college careers. I think Frye has more offensive ability as well. If he can score, that helps us tremendously.

211. "#18 Utah Jazz - Joey Graham SF OKST"
In response to Reply # 0

Hells. yes.

If there's one player in this draft Jerry Sloan would love, it's Graham, who is about as hard-nosed a basketball player as you will see these days. He plays good defense, has good athleticism, and is definitely an able finisher. He'll give Utah quality depth at the 3, something that they sorely miss and was made painfully obvious last year when AK47 went down. I love Graham and should this actually happen he'd have a great chance of developing into Utah's 6th man of the future.

Updated lineup:

C - Okur/Collins/Borchardt
PF - Boozer/Humphries
SF - AK47/Graham
SG - Harpring/Bell/Snyder/Giricek
PG - Felton/Lopez/McLeod

I felt we needed someone to replace Bonzie Wells, after the playoff debacle. He should be a nice back-up to Mike Miller and James Posey. His size was a question, but I'm willing to take a risk. I think he can be very sucessful player for the team, and am confident in my pick. I felt we needed a pg more but, all the guys I was looking at were taken. I feel enough confidence in our frontline even to not take May. Hopefully Gasol will man up this upcoming year and play like he did in the Olympics.

In response to Reply # 0

Right in under the time limit...

I have heard a lot of talk lately about how much of a risk this pick could be if someone took him with a lottery pick. To me, I think this pick might be one of the steals in the draft.

It's no mystery that the major problem the Nuggets had all year long (and was exposed greatly in the playoffs) was that they lacked a deadly perimeter shooter. Not only does McCants (when healthy and without off-the-court problems) have the ability to shoot the rock from at least 18 ft. out, but he is also very explosive, and will be able to take it to the rack with authority. I think that this kid (if not this year, then next for sure) will be able to be the 2-guard and/or shooter that the Nuggets so desperately needed over the home-stretch of the season.

As far as stats go, there was nothing too impressive. The only two of note would be 16 PPG and a .423 3PT%. Still, I think this kid is one of the most talented kids in the draft, and with the right coaching, will be able to be a good player for a few seasons.

I can see it happening, too. McCants will just give us another offensive dimension, and will be nice off the bench. The only huge drawback I see here at this point for the Nuggets is that we already have an undersized backcourt, and McCants will not work at the point.

I'm telling you guys though - Lenard and Demarr (who I wasn't sold on at first, but now think is gonna really put it together) will be good enough at the 2.

i don't see what's so special about mccants. just because he was the most one-shining-momentednessed player in ncaa history. at this point i'd rather the nuggs take diogu, simien, or that frenchie petro or some high schooler. hell, even make a reach for stoudamire here -- he'll be a much better pro than mccants.

Stoudamire is a better 3-point shooter, that's given. But that's all that man established during his college career. Hell, he might even slip late enough into the second round for the Nuggets to have a shot at drafting him.

McCants will be a more explosive player, and should be able to penetrate at will. Not only that, but he should be able to shoot well enough to hold his own, especially on the wings.

Stoudamire, more than likely, will be asked to play point (as may McCants). But I think that McCants holds a large athletic edge on Salim, and if asked, will have a better chance of playing the 1, and playing it effectively.

i don't think mccants is that athletic/explosive. he's a good penetrator, scorer, shooter, but doesn't do any one thing exceptionally well. to find a bench player at the end of the 1st or 2nd round it doesn't matter if they have weaknesses in their game, they just have to have at least one area they're exceptional at. stoudamire obviously can bomb like no one else, while mccants is just good all around, which won't cut it at the next level. i'd take hodge or head before mccants too because they both have way more heart.

In response to Reply # 0

Once again, the help in the backcourt is needed. This pick is a personal pick for me: I really don't like Andre Miller's style of playing the point, so I think bringing in a young Jack to contest him will either force him to step up his play in transition, or Denver will find the point guard they are truly looking for to run their offense. Now, on the downside, Jack is an extremely streaky player. There are nights where he looked like J-Kidd, and others where he looked like a freshman college player. Again, I think the right teaching and coaching will help this kid to progress into the PG of the future for the Nuggets.

The temptation to take Simian was there, yet I think we are pretty sloid in the front court, as long as every one stays healthy. I think the backcourt needed to be addressed first, and Denver might look for a marginal big man to pick up in the seecond round.

not liking Andre Miller's style doesn't change the fact that he is a pretty good baller. You already have 3 skilled guards, Miller, Anthony, Boykins. I think you could have done better to get a forward, or a center to back up Camby who is always getting hurt.

first, melo is not a guard -- the nuggs definitely need some backcourt help.

2nd, we already have camby, kmart and nene in a solid 3 man rotation for 2 spots. najera and elson are solid role players but oftentimes don't even play cause the frontcourt's stacked.

finally, drafting for need is stupid anyway. bpa, always.

Well, even if Anthony did play at a guard position, he isn't fast enough to keep up with the Steve Nash's or the Tony Parker's in this league. I think Jack not only has the size and strength, but the speed as well, to at least disrupt a few points guards in the West.

Trust me, I do think the Nuggets need another big man. I think they need both a good backup 4 and a 5. For reasons mentioned by someone else, the health of not only Camby but Nene and Martin will always be a question going into any season. And in my personal opinion, I don't think Nene will ever develop into any type of scoring threat.

no way in hell kiki does this, but it's a good one. dre can't shoot past 15 feet and earl needs camby in with him to make up for his defensive problems. we desperately need someone who can guard pg's and make outside shots. jack would work well.

in reality, we're probably going to trade one pick for a future 1 and use the other on some euro we can stash away for another year. we'll go after marko jaric in free agency to shore up the backcourt but mostly stick with last year's rotation. i pray someone signs buckner away from us cause george had way too much faith in him for some reason and that hurt us at times.

I am working the finals for ABC and they have been terrific!
If you love defense and lackluster shooting, these finals have enourmous upside for you as a fan!

About the draft,

You have to love the upside of these guys. While there are no guys that can step right in to superstar roles, there are guys in this draft that can come right in and contribute in this league.

If you are an NBA GM, you have to LOVE what some of these guys can do, especially the ones that spent some time in college, because they are ready to be coached and have tremendous upside.

I'll be commenting on past picks and will catch up with the current picks.

...This post has tremendous upside.

This may be the first selection forfeit.

We've been pretty loose with the clock, but if he doesn't post his pick in two hours, then Sacto gets skipped.

Sorry I'm late folks...been in SoCal all weekend and had training all day yesterday...add on the crazy family troubles (that's another post)...and here I am exactly 200am pst..

Well on to my fav subject...da Kings...what can you say...we just ain't the same squad that came all so close back in the early 00's...our nuke is still upper ech with bmiller, peja, and bibs...our bench is depleted, but bjack hopefully can get back to form...we got a gang of pfs (kthomas, bskinner, big nasty)...some promising swings in kmartin and maurice - if he decides to sign back...and of course, the loveable scrub double 0 will be back - he's sure not to give up guarauntee'd money (yee haw!)...the cat looks to be opting out and songaila is a 50/50 prop...

You gotta go with best player available regardless of need at 23 - so W. Simeon or J. Hodge would be a good pick, but I ain't gonna eff up the mock draft due to my tardiness. W. Simeon sounds like another Mo Taylor to me and J. Hodge is Hassell like with more dribbs...

So, with any mock...i go with value...this kid Maahhhtin...sounds like a young clone of big Z (hopefully with better feet)...he is in the making, but shoot...if dude can do a learn a little from BMiller he can be a productive big man.

Johan Petro sounds interesting too, so does Andre Blatche...but don't know if I want a Nene or a Stephen Hunter on the Kangs!

In the days leading up to the draft with players on our shortlist getting taken left and right, one remained on the board.

We even threw out a false bone of wanting Turiaf, with this pick.

Basically when it comes down to it if it werent for injuries,
this cat would be lottery or at least top 15.

We shuddered a bit when we saw he only measured in at 6'7",
but were very thrilled by his weight (255 lbs).

We are drafting him to play pf. Right now he can play behind Juwan,
but eventually we'd like to see him start.

The main reason he was taken over Turiaf is
his ability to hit the midrange to 20 foot J.
With Yao in the post, we dont need another
strictly post guy to hog up space.

His athleticism will also help on fastbreaks
Rockets were one of the worst fastbreak team
in the Nba last season.

We think he can rebound as well as Turiaf,
he played in tougher competition, and played
in big games throughout his college career.
Houston also isnt that far from Kansas

and he is solid defensively.
We think he may be able to come in
and spell Tmac at the 3 sometimes.
or be part of a big lineup with Tmac at 2
Simien at 3, Howard at 4, yao at 5

We just pray he stays healthy

In response to Reply # 0

The Celtics get a young talented prospect late in the first, although we might let him stay overseas for a year or two rather than sign him immediately. Korolev will hopefully be the SF of the future for this team and fill the future frontline with Big Al and Kendrick.

Ronny Turiaf was considered however I'd rather sign a veteran power forward to back up/tutor Big Al Jefferson. And with the Jazz's second round pick just a few slots away, the C's will look to add another young prospect. Johan Petro sounds too much like Jerome Moiso for my liking, and neither Blatche nor Randolph Morris impressed me enough to add another project center.

The kid's a super-talent who hasn't played against top competition yet. He's the type of person that I believe Ainge is looking for because he has stated that he is leaning towards someone who he can keep overseas for a year or two rather than someone who'll come in right away.

How was the trade bad? Joey Graham, Francisco Garcia, Rashad McCants, Sean May, Jarret Jack, Martynas Andriuskevicius, Wayne Simian, Julius Hodge, Marko Thomas. Which of those guys wasn't worth moving up 16 picks to the beginning of the second round?

Joey Graham
Francisco Garcia
Sean May
Martynas Andriuskevicius
Wayne Simien
Julius Hodge

Graham or Simien would've been a perfect pick I think at 18, and if you want to leave someone overseas see 7'3 Eastern european.

I don't think it's that significant in this draft. Sean May and Wayne Simian would be backups for the Celtics. Ronny Turiaf or Johan Petro could fall to the second round pick, and I really don't see them being significantly worse than either May or Simian. I didn't think Martynas Andriuskevicius was still in the draft so he wasn't a consideration. From what I've heard about him, he sounds like the second coming of Pavel Podkolzine. Garcia is a headcase and won't be as effective in the pro's IMO. Hodge was a consideration; he'd be a solid complement to Delonte West in the backcourt. I was hoping he'd fall but it's not all that big of a deal that he didn't. I've never been all that impressed with Graham.

As long as the Cs put Delonte in at PG, I could care less if they started 4 Rasho Nesterovic's.

Once Martell Webster's fall ended before 18, I wanted to trade the pick and move up in the second round. Hell, if we could have traded players, people really would have been pissed at what I would have done. I've been wanting to get rid of Pierce for over a year now. If you think the Celtics are a player or two away from contending for the Championship, then you won't like my moves.

There are just 5 more picks until the second pick I traded for. The C's will be getting a good player there.

In response to Reply # 305

Guess what? Taking the best big name college player isn't always the right move. If anyone should know that by now, it's the Boston Celtics. The Celtics have been mediocre or worse for just under two decades now because they take the big name, the meat and potatoes as you say, and never roll the dice. Mercer over McGrady, dumping youngsters Billups and Joe Johnson for steady veterans like Kenny Anderson and Rodney Rogers, Forte over Parker. "We don't need any more young players," Rick Pitino on trading the C's pick (which was used for 'Dre Miller but Pitino said he would've taken Marion) for Vitaly Potapenko. The list goes on and on.

Meat and potatoes isn't going to get this team out of mediocrity. Meat and potatoes means adding more guys like Eric Montross in the draft. Meat and potatoes gets you Ryan Gomes in the lottery.

Spurs need some more perimeter shooting and a guy who can eventually come off the bench.. Barry isn't getting any younger.. also can penetrate and good height at around 6'6.

In response to Reply # 0

I did research and no where could I find that he dropped out of the draft.

Wow...I am surprised he slipped this far. He can go as early as #6 or undrafted. This guy is the next Pau Gasol and ATL has made the made mistake of letting one international superstar go...so, here is a chance to redeem ourselves.

Atlanta Hawks need a PF and a Center BAD. I believe that the centers in this draft are weak. So, I think it's important to develop a strong core. After draft Chril Paul as PG in the 1st round and with the selections of Josh Childress and Josh Smith last year and now, Splitter...we have the potential to be the Memphis Grizzles or even the Suns of the East.

As for Splitter, he is 6-10, 240, and very raw, thus meaning he can be developed into a Pau/Dirk type of Power Forward. His defense is ahead of his offense right now, which is what ATL needs badly. ESPN states that he's an excellent rebounder and shot blocker. He does have a nice handle and a good, but not great, jumper. He's very long and runs the floor well. He's a good, but not great, athlete. He's fearless and doesn't mind contact in the paint. Apparently, scouts claim that his athleticism and coordination are also improving. He's fearless and doesn't mind contact in the paint. Despite his youth, scouts claim that Splitter plays like a 25-year-old.

However, he needs to improve his inside scoring and he is a little slow, but isnt Dirk?

In response to Reply # 0

okay. this is my 2nd crack at this.

ATL needs a CENTER/PF badly. i didnt realize that Splitter was taken.

I am in a rush, so imma just post nbadraft.net:

NBA Comparison: Steven Hunter

Strengths: Long and athletic prospect with good potential... Plays well facing the basket and can put the ball on the floor as he has a great handle for someone his size. Has shown a good outside shot but needs to work on his consistency... Gets off the floor quickly and blocks or alters shots... Runs the floor well and gets rebounds do to his length and leaping ability.

Weaknesses: Needs to play with more effort and consistency. Dominates some games and is non-existent in others... While he has range on his outside shot he needs to work on being a consistent shooter... Like many of the Kevin Garnett clones these days, Blatche is infatuated with the perimeter. Floats around on the outside at times when he should be down low posting up... Decent speed, but isnt quick enough to get by defenders at the next level... At almost seven feet tall, Blatche has all the physical tools to make it big in the NBA one day, it just wont be anytime soon... Will be a project for whichever team decides to select him.

Notes: Has made it clear he intends to bypass college and go straight to the league. Will need to show solid progress to be a first round selection.
