... at The Newsroom in L.A. Jay-Z was there, too.
Actually, this post is called "Answers to Boondocks Questions" I've never been good at interacting with readers and stuff, but here's the deal on some of thangs y'all been asking.
1) When's the show coming on?
Despite anything you may have read, there is NO airdate for any Boondocks television show. There is NO guarentee there will even BE a Boondocks television show. If it happens, it's a year away at the earliest.
The show, if it happens, will be on cable. It was never slated for a major Network.
2) What's with the website?
I'd like to bring it back soon. But this is still a one man operation, so who knows? But I have been thinking about finding someone to get it up and running again.
3) How do we get in touch with you?
You can't, really. I can't access the email (I parted ways with my old webmaster and have since lost the passcodes) from the website - and I really don't like giving out my private email. For the record, as a rule I don't read fanmail or hatemail. I like to keep myself pretty isolated from feedback about the strip. Some people think that makes me a real jerk, which of course, I am. All the more reason why you shouldn't worry about getting in touch with me.
I do lecture at colleges - that's the best way to talk to me. Just don't be like the guy who rolled up on me at Duke in front of a crowd of people and asked if I was still suffering from depression. Yeesh ...
For the record - I was never actually diagnosed with clinical depression.
4) Will there be a Boondocks movie?
Hopefully, but its even farther from being real than the TV show.
5) When's the third book coming out?
Tough to say right now. Hopefully this year. The title is, "Public Enemy #2"
6) Are you single?
Yes. I'm also shallow. You've been warned.
7) Okay - you don't read fanmail and you don't update your website - you basically don't care about your fans, do you?
I appreciate fans. Really, I do. I just think they can be a distraction to a lot of artists. I don't read fanmail or hatemail because I do enough second-guessing of myself as is. The email address is still up there because I don't have access to the website, so I can't change it without great effort and difficulty. Which reminds me ... I really need to do that.
But if you do happen to catch me on the street or at a University you'll find I really am a nice guy.
However, if you're a fan and your felling unloved - here it is from me to you: I love you.
8) Nas or Jay-Z?
I could give a rats ass ...
9) Didn't you used to post as FreeHuey?
Yes, but I forgot my old password, so I created a new name.
10) What did you think about The Roots with Jay-Z?
I only saw the commercial and kept thinking ... "Che?!".
11) Alicia Keys or India Irie?
See question 8.
12) What's up with Rhome?
I was gonna ask you.
13) Do you really think you are the voice of young black America, as the media has sometimes referred to you?
Of course. I'm a cartoonist.
14) Are you really one of People's Most Eligible Bachelors?
Guilty!
15) Did it improve your social life even a little bit?
16) Seriously, I mean ... being on the bachelors list - you must have been swimming in honeys, right?
No! Okay! Jesus ... next question! Matter of fact, this interview is over!
United We Stand.
