You have to already be fuked-up in the head to acquire/ appreciate my tastes in music.
Mr. Bungle- "Disco Volante" @@@@@ Phuking sick! These guys are out of their minds. Mike Patton (former lead singer of Faith No More) fronts this band, with their fusion of jazz, metal, gypsy, mediterranean, polka, techno, gothic, ambient, noise, funk, bluegrass, and a whole lot of other experimental shit. This is their 2nd album (in '95). If you're on the irritable side, DO NOT listen to this album.
Mr. Bungle- "California" @@@@ Their 3rd album, in '99, is more mellow and digestable. This gives the eclectic qualities of them, but with more sane flavors. The name of this album pretty much describes the album's style. It's sunny and bright and full of optimism, even when they're dealing with unpleasant issues. Some songs have that "surfer music" appeal. A couple of songs on here are on the "Spain"/ Mediterranean side. One song, "Bionic Vapour Boy", is a funk explosion with robotic nuances on some '70s/early 80s shit. "Retrovertigo" is a REAL song, starts out as a ballad then forms into the hard rock side (real mellow). "Vanity Fair" can only be discribed in one word....... DOO-WOP.
Def Jux presents.... Company Flow @@@@ If you're not a Company Flow (El-P, Big Jus) fan, then DON'T buy this album. I will say, however, the track "Simple" is very reminiscent of Bomb Squad production (Public Enemy). Very hard-edge, heavy bass, grinding guitars. This is only an EP release.
It's da mad face invasion!!!
