Peace. I found myslef doing the majority of the work re: Blacksmith the label, so I decided to concentrate my efforts on a label that was solely in my control, Javotti Media. Look out for albums from Cory Mo and Res... you have to ask Jean about Cake or Death, but as a huge fan I can't wait for it either. She's on twitter and instagram often..

Hamster Wheel is indeed in the same thread as Tater Tot. So is Fly Away from Attack The Block, stories of young women in the hood. Because of my daughter I connect to that subject. I may do a follow up to tater Tot. Thanks!

Black Star is a live experience but no album in the works. As far as being a whatever dude said, I don't dude, so I would be weary of people who speak on people they've never met like that. And on the off chance that I have met him, he didn't say it to my face so that sounds like a personal problem. Cheers!

Honestly, I wouldn't. I dj like how Big Tigger used to freestyle in the Basement. I have a great ear for and knowledge of music, and learned how to blend decent when I'm focused, but I would rather big up real djs like Z-Trip, which is why I did Attack The Block with him. But djing is super fun, and I will keep doing it, come see me at Beauty and Essex if you in NYC tomorrow.

My son just graduated high school and is headed to Full Sail to study music business and production. It doesn't matter what I say. He is just like me, in that he has a passion for it that cannot be quelled. I can only respect it and offer advice. My daughter is going to a high school for the arts, she can sing, and my son can spit. Better than me at that age.

Thank you for the compliment. Liberation was recorded in a basement over a week. So with that said, yes, that could easily happen again. And I would have to say Prisoner of Conscious was the most fun. It took four years, I spent months in places like Puerto Rico and Brazil with close friends recording it.

DJ Quik is a good friend and an incredible producer. Working with him was the first time I had my vocals produced, he was like a coach and I learned a lot about myself as an MC. Quik is classic and his contributions to the game are underrated. I would certainly work with him again.

Both res and I are often pidgeonholed. Idle Warship was a way for us to create music that employs all of our influences, not just what people expect from us. It started as fun, and developed into a real project. We are focused on res solo stuff for now, but there is another Idle Warship album in the works. In fact, Come Here with Miguel was actually recorded during an Idle Warship session, but I added it to Prisoner of Conscious.

I recently watched an Angela Davis lecture where she said, "music is the most political space we have in this contemporary era." I was wondering what your thoughts are on music's potential to politicize individuals and communities, as well as why music as a political space is important to society.

With all due respect to Dr Davis if music is the most political space we all have a lot of work to do. Music imo is not reaching its potential as a motivator. However I enjoy much of todays music and look forward to when the younger artists of our time realize their power for change. They will. I can hear it.

I enjoyed being on College Dropout, that was a great album to be a part of. And my favorite geust verse was on Ironside of Quincy Jones last album Soul Bossa Nostra, with Kendra Ross.

Get By is a good one, Good to You. But Hi Tek had some joints on Revolution Per Minute that yall slept on.
Invincible is an incredible white female MC. So great in fact that her being white and female actually become irrelevant, as it should be. She's doper than most MC's period.

I loved all of Attack the Block. But the beauty of a free mixtape is everyone coming together for the love. No label or sample clearances, no lawyers, managers etc. So sometimes as dope as a song is, it's easier and quicker for me to get it to the fans by just putting it out for free.
