"Visual Studio 2005 Team System final release and Unit Testing"

Why are my clients (faculty at a university) "skeet skeetin'"
about VS 2005 Team and Unit Testing. I am just now getting
it just before deadline for putting out spring software images
in the lab.

Who has tried the final release for VS 2005 express and
sql server expres also?

Cheers.

and by large I mean a dev team with hundreds of developers scattered in different cities or even countries. Otherwise you really won't see the benefit, it's an extremely heavy piece of software. Last time I checked I think you actually needed to be running two seperate servers to use it as it was intended.

Anyway, are you asking about unit testing seperate from VSTS?

Lastly, I'm using Visual C# Express right now as we speak. It's pretty cool. It has alot of features missing from the full version of Visual Studio but if you need a light-weight IDE to do some hacking, I highly recommend it. (I'm old school so I can get by with the bare minimum of features) As for SQL Express, we're deploying it at work. It seems to work as advertised though I haven't done anything really complex with it yet. They've released a .Net based version of Enterprise Manager and Query Analyzer for it so you don't have to fuck around with the command line. I think it's gonna give MySQL a run for it's money as a very simple, no frills, lightweight but powerful database for small websites running on IIS. So far we've been able to convert our old Sql Server 2000 databases to the new Express database formats and everything worked without problems.

that's why I was looking for a "homeboy's" perspective
on the advantage of unit testing, but I can always look it up
I was just feeling lazy today.

I'm still waiting for my MSDN account upgrade to come through to try it.

The 2005 dev tools are very nice from what I've used though. I like Sql Server 2005 waaaaaaaaay better than 2000.
