Why is it good?

You've got a phone that if you decide to leave/give it to someone else...you can use with another provider.

If your planning on staying with a provider long term, etc. Its not really worth it. But if your planning on jumping ship(and want to keep the phone), or have a friend in a need of a cellphone from a different company, its a good deal.

It is the only way that you can use the phone. in the long run that is the only reason that makes since.
