"Cable TV vs Torrent TV"

What advantages/disadvantages are there to getting rid of cable and watching TV via torrents?

Cable costs too damn much IMO

With cable tv, you can channel surf and find new shows to watch. Also, there are many shows on cable that can not be downloaded using bit torrent such as news, sports and so on.

Only watch tv for a small handful of POPULAR shoes, then it might be an option.

If your a channel surfer that just likes to kickback and flick around, its not an option.

If your a sports fan, its definately not an option.

I'm putting together a computer that will act like tivo by recording shows off cable. But it'll also be connected to the Internet so I figure I'll install Azureus on there and be able to torrent stuff as well. Should be tight.

I'd ditch cable over Internet. Channel surfing gets old and you can dl most shows these days anyway.

all the shows I watch I can find on the internet... The Wire, Stella, Comedians of Comedy, Curb, etc. I spend $20/month on Netflix, but that's it. I watch Antiques Roadshow and Arrested Development on regular broadcast TV.
