"Is it possible to rip Programs off of a cable dvr box?"
I have insight cable, and they recently gave me a Dvr Capable Cable box with a usb output on it and I am thinking that it is possible To pull the programs off of the box, but i have no idea where to start. If you know where i can get some information on how to do this, please let me know... That USB port you see on the box it not for transferring video, it for sending commands to the cable box. Thus, it'll be no good for what you want to do. What you can do though is get a TV tuner card for your computer then plug that into your cable box. Then, with the right software you are turning your computer into a Tivo. I'm working on this type of project as we speak. =========================================== -Me
People have been trying to do it since Cable COmpany DVRs came out and I have not seen anyone have any success doing it. (I do think it is possible with a Tivo though)
The next best option is to create a Media Center PC like homey described. **********
