my thing is that the series should be in a place where its more like Smash brothers then SFV. Doesnt have to have the 'classic' characters per say, but the character design needs to be nuts and as nostalgia hitting as possible. If the playability is still solid people will show up even if its not their character fav's as long as they are fun and tongue in cheek.

Like if they have fun with it and maybe have a full screen sized Uatu the Watcher or an OP Squirel Girl then it could be great.

If its just palette swapping Magneto for boring ass Black Bolt, then it's gonna be a problem.

That said, Im intrigued to see if Capcom learns from its SF5 first six month mistakes.

also, look at the Marvel 3 roster

pretty much we've seen all of those characters in Marvel movies (even the non-MCU ones) and TV shows, with the exception of Assmaster and Skrull -- hell Luke Cage and Misty Knight were even in one of the endings of Marvel 3

So many cool Marvel characters I would love to play ass like Daredevil, BP, Luke Cage, Ms Marvel, etc

no X-Men does cut down significantly on the nostalgia factor though, can't lie

but it happened. no mutants is a concession worth it for a series I thought would *never* continue due to licensing.

Chris from Resident Evil has the SAME exact move list, Ultron moves alot like Iron man...; them niggas just reskinned the models and threw an ugly filter on it.

It's like they hired the B team from Netherrealms...it reminds me of Injustice but much much much uglier.

But the moves/feels is all Mahvel...we are all gonna be on that heroin this fall even though it's gonna be cut a bit by ugly baking soda.

Since the Vs. series has always recycled moves.

But I am disappointed by the character models. They just look flat and plastic.

And the colors don't pop. MvC3 in 1080p looks gorgeous, with them deep comic book ink blacks outlining all the saturated colors. MvCI should be looking at least as good.

NRS games have always been eyesores to me, but Injustice 2 is looking more colorful than the new Marvel. That shit baffles me more than Trump being president.

Lots of gameplay details have come out:

-Four attack button layout a la MVC2 again. LP, HP, LK, HK. Crouching HP is the universal launcher. The other two buttons are Switch and Infinity Stone. Both can be used whenever.

-Everybody can OTG now.

-DHC, washdashing, and Happy Birthdays are still around.

-Advancing guard reflects projectiles now!

-You can call in a character to break your opponent's combo by spending two meters.

-It looks as if games are going to be 2/3 rounds, since the damage output is so high and it's reset heavy. Once both characters die, that's the round. There are round victory icons seen in some of the footage.

It's MvC, so, I'm just pressing shit to see what happens. I kinda prefer the 3v3, but it looks like the focus is zoomed in a little. R1 is the character switch/assist, and L1 is whatever Infinity Stone you have equipped. Sometimes you go 1v2, like the Heralds on MvC3. Pretty fun, overall. I'm sure I'll buy it, just because.

GOOD:

Graphics mid game are great in motion

Gameplay is as nuts as you would expect. You don't miss the 3rd char and the gems def. add a whole other element.

Online 'seems' solid, but we will see as it goes on

Singleplayer modes are back (lol) and the story mode as silly as they have to make it, isn't atrocious...arguably better then SFV with some interesting deviations/setups in matches

BAD:
Graphics/UI design are horrible...looks like the shit you would see on a PS2 game. Its a comic book game guys, design should have been high on the list

For supposedly making it easier on casuals by ditching third character and adding a bunch of autocombo shit the core of the game feels tougher. Could be cause I don't have a Xbone stick and im using the controller but shit like launcher into air combo feels MUCH tighter then MVC3..alot of the setups after the first hit felt like you had forever (the timing was where they got you). Here it feels like you gotta commit in a split second or opportunity missed.

With re-using so many assets there's a feeling that there shouldda been more 'new'...particularly with the much lower roster.

OVERALL:
For fightin game fans only and cop on sale..which it def will be around Xmas.

From the movie ass roster, to the bland art style, to the wack ass nondescript "cinematic" themes for the Marvel characters. You would never know the Marvel characters came from comic books by playing this game.

Gripes aside, the core mechanics are my favorite in the versus series. Easily.

THAT said, I'm forever gonna be trash at this game. It's gonna be fun to watch tho.

This looks merely "okay" at best.

It rivals Powerpoints that I made in junior high. But the gameplay seems good. And the various stones make for pretty varied gameplay. The stones make me wish that SFV would add another universal mechanic such as an alternate v-trigger for each character.

my son was really hype about it so I figure lets red box it for the weekend. The characters are really lacking. They need X-Men or even just more interesting Marvel characters. It doesnt look great. Even simple shit like the character select screen. Its so boring looking. Then how are you going to have Rocket come into battle with Groot and just have Groot walk away and not be playable? It is is a good fighting engine with the UI, animation and art design from the PS2 era.

Meanwhile a company a fraction of the size was able to drop a game more polished and truer to the series they started

In this case not Capcom, but Marvel. Those following MvCI know that Capcom hasn't been able to stream the game on Capcom Fighters or directly include it in the Pro Tour for mysterious reasons. It appears Marvel pulled out right after launch.

I really don't see the big idea regarding the graphics. Are they perfect? Absolutely not, but they don't look bad for a fighting game as crazed as this that involve characters that look like Mega Man, Arthur, etc.

The more simplistic systems (i.e. 2v2, not as flashy supers, ease combos and supers, story, etc.) work to soften the blow for new or novice players into this world if they just want to play the game for the fun of it.

The character list though... I do miss the X-Men, I can't lie. But honestly, I look at this game as more a Marvel Cinematic Universe vs. Capcom than anything else. If the X-Men, Deadpool, Fantastic Four, or more Spider-Man stuff was in the game, we wouldn't get things like Ultron, Winter Soldier, Black Widow, Black Panther, Thanos, Gamora, Groot, etc., as they work within the confines of this smaller and tighter game.

It's not the best of the series, I'll give you that, and it's also not perfect by any means. Perhaps I'm simply trying to justify the purchase, but I had way more fun playing than I thought I would considering the hate this game has been getting.
