Anybody cop it? I've only played it for about an hour and I'm loving the new running game so far. Passing still feels too easy without slider adjustments..

and NBA 2K is annual. Usually I'd buy Madden as an appetizer but I can't justify it right now with my MLB addiction (I don't even care about / know most of these players' names) and ongoing play of The Witcher 3 and other story games.
I'm kinda bummed about it too because it sounds like this might be the best Madden since Madden 07.

traded 16 for 17 an hour and a half ago and then came home to an update requirement, i'm at 21% and it has been over an hour. COME ON.
thought i would be able to resist madden this year but i am always powerless to it. looking forward to immediately doing a fantasy draft in franchise mode which i hope they improved.

I haven't played Madden since 2002, but I'm looking for a game my ol' man and I can get into. Is it possible to handle the GM (draft, free agent signings, etc) and Coach responsibilities (play calling, roster management) without actually playing the game?

super broken though. i'm in my 9th season of franchise mode and every game invariably has at least one invisible player because madden 16 can't manage to render some number of auto-generated players. if i sub enough early in the game i can have multiple invisible players in the second half
passing is overpowered. you can run drags all day and be successful. the TE corner is probably glitched because it succeeds 90% of the time with a fast enough TE (≥85 SPD)
running is fun and responsive. defense is a mystery as always. i usually just pick a play and then play something on my phone while the CPU handles the defensive players

Drags have been the bizness to counter blitzathon players for YEARS. I've been Alex Smithing it with better QBs like that on Madden to try to get people to fall back. As soon as they do, I put the run on them. And then, the one on one coverage bomb to a fast slot guy. John Brown was damn near the best WR on the game last year for that reason alone. It was crazy.
I ALWAYS say 'eh, I'll get to Madden when I get to it' only to end up with it within 2 weeks of it coming out. Hell, I might go get it today.

I may cop this year though

13. "why would the devs put effort into it when people buy it anyway?" In response to Reply # 10
i can't wait until people wise up and stop buying madden (i realize the slight irony of saying this after buying 16 last year but that was the first madden i'd purchased in ~10 years) so EA will be forced into a subscription and/or F2P model like world or warcraft or dota 2. the updates and gameplay changes that the madden team rolls out yearly (and charges FULL PRICE for) are the kind of updates that are implemented every few months by games like dota 2 and league of legends at no cost to the user
21. "the animation transitions are ROUGH" In response to Reply # 10
it's the biggest thing holding these sports games back from really looking consistently realistic. NBA2K suffers from the same shit. the way they just snap between walking cycles irks the fuck out of me.
that and the inability to properly sync mouth animations with audio is just lazy at this point.
15. ""play the moments" is the only redeeming quality this year" In response to Reply # 0
the gameplay is virtually identical to last year, but finally I can watch the CPU play each other, or knock out a lot of games consecutively without playing for 10 hours.
All-Madden is still frustrating to the point where I want to snap the disc multiple times per session, and Owner Mode is hilariously broken. I spent the first two nights with a Chargers franchise, moved them to Portland (Snowhawks) and I was -80 million after two seasons just for resigning all my players. apparently everyone online talks about how Owner Mode is broken and the only way to play is to never resign your star players and sign Free Agents in the 70s yearly. why the fuck would anyone want to play like that.
its a better game than last year, only because of play the moments feature.
19. "its meant to just make games go by faster" In response to Reply # 16
you can choose "fast", where it sims each play really fast and then you take over either on 3rd down or in the endzone, the "standard" speed is a bit slower than fast, and the "slow" mode is where you watch the CPU play each other. I have found that when you sim on fast mode, your team is guaranteed to 3 and out and never score. it is hilarious actually i made an effort to actually study it and yeah, its garbage.
17. "I've gotten through a few years of franchise like this." In response to Reply # 15
I made a RB, so I play my lil few downs and speed through the rest. I'm having problems with it dropping from EA servers in the middle of a game and fucking up progress.
Magnificent! I planned on waiting for a sale, but I didn't expect to get one this fast. Bought and expecting it Saturday. Now I can be horrible for a few weeks before I find my way all over again...like every year.

I love how they have the update patches for commentary. It is easily listenable and borderline good. It is so much better than dealing with that old ass repetitive Phil Simms stuff.
And the presentation has finally taken the jump to the point where I'm STARTING to forget 2k5 and see Madden as a real thing instead of a 'I guess I don't have another choice'.
I don't love the computer's magical abilities in the open field on offense. AKA I've been getting shaken the hell up.
I'm learning that I can't just bumrush the computer anymore and being in position at all times is a bigger deal than just taking a decent angle and hitsticking. And perhaps one day I'll be able to do similarly magical jukes at just the right time even though the whole process of accessing some of the moves doesn't 'feel' right to me and it looks like you have to do them or you ain't getting the open field tackle breaking. As it stands, I'm better off when I don't do ANY moves ever with any player in the open field.
