"I'm having trouble adding more files to a CD-RW........."
Mon May-02-16 06:32 PM by user00197

Hi? I just have a question?

It's a question about CD-RW's. I got one file written to it, but there is still more disc space left. I tried to add another file to it from a computer desktop more than once and my computer didn't want to add it to the disc. My computer screen keeps saying ""Windows does not support this CD-RW format. To use the disc, choose the task "Erase this CD-RW", which will format the disc so that Windows can use it.""

Can anyone help me with this? Thanks?

Thanks for the responses......

?

I am using Windows to put files into the CD-RW disc? I did sort of skim through Google search results but didn't find anything that could really help? I did find that someone asked a similar question: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_xp-hardware/windows-does-not-support-this-cd-rw-format/54aa9314-aeb3-4f3c-8f53-5f6a99ef90c7?auth=1

But the person that posted that question said it was more about a DVD+RW type of disc, so I don't know?

Am I not doing something correctly or what do I have to do?

when you wrote the first file you probably chose the option to close the disk to further writing.

Hmm......for some reason I didn't see an option like that? Is there something I have to check for first before I write more files to the disc?

why don't you copy the file to your computer, format the disc and then copy all files to it and look out for that option to close the disc for further formatting. Wouldn't that work?

I probably haven't burned a CD in 10 years. You can probably get a FREE thumb drive that holds more space than a CD.

Micro Center has a deal on a 100 pack for $25. Your copy of Windows XP is old so you may need to update it. Type service pack two into the excite search engine and see if it points you to the right direction.

It may take a while to download it over dial-up so may make sure you keep your phone on the hook.
